I joined awhile ago, and was about to post my first post in the politics thread. It was pretty long, and had a few links in it to back up what I was saying. However, I couldn't post because it said I needed more posts before I could post links...Hm.

How many posts?

Due to a certain unfortunate incident, new posters aren't allowed to post urls in posts. It's one of several restrictions that I think expire after 10 posts.

you can always just manipulate your urls, like changing http:// to hxxp:// or something.

Sorry to hear about your PP post, Spiderweb but like Styphon says, it's a pretty useful feature and it doesn't really take that long to find 10 or so meaningful things to say. ^_^

Hopefully spam advertisers will get it through their head that it's a waste of time to spend ten minutes signing up and validating yourself only to post one message and leave on their own/get banned.

Hah, I understand what the feature is for. Still annoying, especially since I've got 11 posts and am still having trouble with it.

How many posts do I need to post images here?

The same amount that you need to obtain url posting privileges. (it's more than 10, actually)

Does anybody know how many posts it takes?!

Bigblah knows but he's gonna keep it a secret. If it was common knowledge, people who wanted to circumvent the rule would simply drop the minimum number of spam posts and then start with the adverts.

It's enough to discourage the sort of people we don't want and few enough for you to pass it just after you've gotten a feel for how the board works.

Is it possible to change the skin of these forums? This shade of blue is kind of disorientating.

I like message boards with a light gray or white color.

EDIT: Also, how do you know your post count? Is it the Level thing under your avatar?

Look under forum skin. Light set may or may not be what you're looking for.

But the GFF blue is the default skin and what most of us use and what we base transparancy or background color when making sigpics. Using any other color skin will make these sigpics look a bit off. Just a heads up for you.

Personally, I find the colors to be pleasing on the eye.

Light set is blue as well.

Why do you need to know your post-count?

You're damn skippy! Does it just make it so you have no avatars, sigs, and pictures or something? I remember the old light set would make it just black text and white background with names and no avatars, sigs, or images. It was interesting.

Not quite. I've been using Allwords for some time now. It's pretty reliable, in my opinion.

Not sure if it's the best dictionary ever but it is good.

I have one question to ask, though. Why is it that when I post a message, you say it is "inane spam" but when other people post nothing except for flame messages or just seven lines of FOREST and TREES (I know what point he was trying to prove, but still) you seem to ignore those and fail to reprimand them?

Not to be blunt, but if I were you I'd rather just stop posting for a while, and lurk around the site instead. You're new here so I wouldn't expect you to know how GFF works.

As much as I hate to admit it, "disorientating" is a real word. To say it aloud makes me feel retarded, but nonetheless, it's for real. I know it's hard to look past that terrible avatar, but alchemyguything wasn't actually spamming.
