Umm...more like 2 years dag. Remember the whole thing with RVD?

dagget Feb 27, 2008 12:06 PM

Ok let me rephrase, one that's not as a result of disciplinary action.

SuperSonic Feb 27, 2008 04:01 PM

I'm guessing the last one was where Sycho Sid beat Bret Hart after that Final Four PPV?

No, maybe it was when Stone Cold beat Kane for it after King of the Ring 98.

Wait, no I take that back. I remember when Mankind did it against the Rock after threatening to totally destroy Shane McMahon in the ring and Vince approved of it out of desperation. Mankind then won it later that night on Raw.

Slash Feb 27, 2008 05:02 PM

Well..the last time the title was won on Raw was in 2001 when Austin won it

And in 2003 Lesnar won it/retained or whatever on Smackdown

wow..never thought those two would go together...WWE title and Smackdown

mortis Feb 27, 2008 05:58 PM

A shame for Hornswaggle because ultimately he and we ALL know that once this is done he'll be gone in six months.

Actually, the last (world) title change on Raw was July of 06 when Edge won a triple Threat against RVD and Cena. But I know what you are getting at...

I think we already covered that one, mortis. XD Also, once Hornswoggle goes it'll be a damn shame because he is a very liked character in the WWE. So was Cryme Time, damn it.

mortis Feb 27, 2008 06:15 PM

Whoops. Once again, I am defeated by not seeing that there is a new page. Blast you...page 97 of this thread!

lightgem Mar 1, 2008 02:47 AM

Today at lunch, one thing just crossed my mind. I really hope Chris Benoit will be inducted for Hall of Fame this year. Even though the last hour of his life is a dark tragedy, it can't be traded of for his whole life being a dependable person and a superb wrestler.

Slash Mar 1, 2008 02:49 AM

The one thing I can say this lightgem is he won't.

If WWE essentially made Benoit go poof right after that double murder suicide...theres no way he'll be inducted into the WWE hall of fame.

mortis Mar 1, 2008 03:24 AM

It is a shame that Benoit's legacy has been heavily tainted due to his actions during that one weekend. It's actually STILL something even I have trouble dealing with.

That being said, I can't see Benoit being in the HOF this year. The WWE received a LOT of backlash just because of the tribute show when they didn't know at that point in time what had happened. At least then they had something to defend themselves. If they put Benoit in the HOF then they will get blasted big time by the media-something they do NOT want for this coming Mania.

I don't see Benoit ever making it into the HoF. Yes, he DID contribute a lot and give a lot of memories, but he also took away even more, and for those memories we have, they are forever dainted by what we know he would eventually do...

Cryme Tyme was canned because of innappropriate behavior. They "improvised" and used their finisher on a Ref at a house show, when it wasn't in the script nor the ref had prior knowledge and knew how to take the move.

Dd anyone else notce that during Burchill's last match, everyone started chanting "You're a Pirate!"? I lol'd.

Slash Mar 2, 2008 05:48 PM

I thought Cryme Tyme just "knocked" the ref out and jacked his belt?

And in other news, apparently Nick Dinsmore (a.k.a. Eugene) is back in OVW...

mortis Mar 2, 2008 07:14 PM

I have heard both stories. The funny thing was I heard the ref counted them out as some sort of rib (?) or something. Either way, what they did to the ref was not planned beforehand and hence their releases.

Eugene is back? That surprises me but given the Wellness Policy may be falling into another black hole, I guess it's safe for him to return.

Winter Storm Mar 2, 2008 07:57 PM

Chris and the HoF is never gonna happen. The last time Vince spoke of the situation, he looked incredibly pissed the hell off. The situation drew about a huge bullseye to Vince and he was excused of all sorts of shit. Topped off of what happened in their home well..

Forget that.

And..

I must say the angle with Hornswoggle was unexpected and well done. Although the two do share some physical similarity(talking about face and hairstyle) it never occured to me that the whole thing would lead up to him being the real dad gig.

I thought WWE cut all ties with OVW.

mortis Mar 3, 2008 10:16 PM

Good point Manny. Nevermind about Eugene returning then...

SuperSonic Mar 3, 2008 10:36 PM

Okay, it's clear that this Mayweather fellow cannot talk worth shit. Donald Trump put on a better show last year than this guy.

Mike Adamle needs more air time, but that would require the WWE to be smart.

Slash Mar 3, 2008 10:43 PM

Mayweather is scared as fuck and we ALL can see that.

But I do have to say, I like Finlays new theme.

dagget Mar 3, 2008 11:38 PM

You hear Vince slip up and call him Fit Finlay? :tpg:

Mayweather is too busy trying to keep up the "thug" image to do any kind of "serious acting". He has no concept of the WWE way things are done and plays it off as it's a joke. (well, it is becoming a joke, but you know what I mean).

That's what bugs the shit out of me when they get a celebrity or someone like that involved in a storyline. They're too busy trying to play their image than try to take this "serious" and by serious I mean the professional standards that Vince would hope they would have upon hiring them. That much was proven when they had the replay of the Big Show tossing that MMA guy around, they muted Mayweather's bullshit sprouting. (Also when they said MMA fight, I soooo expected to hear Shamrock's or even Lesnar's theme) He's being very unprofessional and I just can't stand that shit.

Also John Cena does not need to be near color commentary. Why? HE SOUNDS LIKE A FUCKING ROBOT. augh.

Adamle has been blowing his lines a lot so far. He needs to get back in the groove.

mortis Mar 4, 2008 12:16 AM

Actually, Cena is pretty decent at commentary. I happened to watch a UPW DVD where he did commentary for one match and was surprised. Now, he is surely behind J.R. Solie, King, Tenay, Schivonie (SP?), perhaps Lance Russell (before my time but from what I read he was excellent) and a few others, but there has also been a LOT worse.

Slash Mar 4, 2008 12:32 AM

Another interesting thought from RAW

Spoiler:

I thought it was interesting the crowd was booing Hardy after the twist of fate on Jericho

mortis Mar 4, 2008 12:35 AM

Well...

Spoiler:

I think that's the WWE's tried-and-true way of finding out who is more popular. They did it with Undertaker/Austin/HBK a decade ago, finding HBK was the least popular and hence the one to turn heel.

I dunno if they are going to turn Hardy heel...actually, they did try that severla years back and it was a joke. In truth, I think it was simple build-up for the MITB match.

It also should be noted this happened in one city...who knows what might happen if this happened in other places.....

It's because his new theme music sucks, he should've kept the old one.

Yeah, I was expecting that to happen too but I couldn't imagine Shamrock losing to the Big Show.

What was Mayweather getting again to be at Wrestlemania? 20 million? That's just overkill.

Spoiler:
That would have required them to pay ESPN more royalties for using it, since the theme Jeff used forever is originally ESPN property, IIRC
