Well...I think getting hit by a flying Charizard (which im guessing is where he flys straight up with a lot of speed) would hurt anyone

I'm curious to see the individual throws for the pokemon

Chaotic Jan 16, 2008 02:44 AM

I'd agree with Sacred on that... But add Falco, Marth, Jigglypuff and Luigi to the list. They're still missing out of this. :(

Sacred X Jan 16, 2008 02:47 AM

I completely forgot about Jigglypuff. That character should make a return as well. I want to say Luigi, but there are many rumors against them. I wouldn't like the idea of any of the original 12 being excluded from Brawl.

Slash Jan 16, 2008 02:48 AM

I agree..you would think that the original 12 would be...the Smash Bros core roster.

So lets see..that means we need JigJig, Luigi, Falcon and Ness?

I want to say this, If those 4 get put into the game, I will gladly forgive Nintendo for yet another delay

Cheezeman3000 Jan 16, 2008 02:50 AM

Anyone else notice that Diddy Kong's moveset is missing? Even more interesting is that in the post where Sakurai describes the special moves, he "forgets" to mention the down special.
I think there's another kong character coming into play, and you use that down special to switch with her (I'm looking at you, Dixie).

Chaotic Jan 16, 2008 02:51 AM

In an interview, someone blabbed him saying that original characters were returning to the brawl. Amongst Mario, Bowser, and Peach, he mentioned Luigi... If someone could find this video, I'd appreciate it.

I think we're just about to hit the limit of newcomers though. There were 13 new characters in Melee (including the clones). At this moment, we're at 12, so we could either look forward to one or two more new characters and then maybe get the announcements of several veterans returning to the game. I'm sure that everything would be revealed before the Japanese launch though.

Also, Diddy's move set is up now. The Down special is a banana peel.

Yes, a banana peel.

Zeta26 Jan 16, 2008 02:51 AM

Well, I dunno about Jigglypuff. Because I also read up on this on Future's N.P magazine, and they pretty much had some bad comments about the Pokemon and also Marth and Roy, calling them obsolete.

What Site are you reading?

Spoiler:

Diddy Kong's Special Moves
Standard Special Move Peanut Popgun
Side Special Move Monkey Flip
Up Special Move Rocketbarrel Boost
Down Special Move Banana Peel
Final Smash Rocketbarrel Barrage

Sacred X Jan 16, 2008 02:53 AM

Interesting how the main characters not being mentioned are the secret characters from the first game. Just coinsidence? I would think (hope) not.

Chaotic Jan 16, 2008 02:56 AM

And I just thought of something that would be cool regarding Smashville that would be a nice touch to the game.

If you have Gamecube memory of Animal Crossing on your memory card while you're playing Brawl, the villagers that load up in the background could be the villagers in your town. Even though that would leave some inconsistencies to the actual setting, seeing the people you had (or thought you had, since odds are, you haven't played Animal Crossing on the GC in months) walking around the background.

Slash Jan 16, 2008 02:57 AM

I think online that would cause quite the calamity

They called them obsolete. Doesn't mean they actually are obsolete.

And as far as that idea goes, it only works in regular multiplayer mode. Since you're not actually hooked up to other people, you only have one (or two, if you have two memory cards with data) load at a time.

^ I thought the same thing when I saw the pic.

I would understand Roy being cut out, even though he's my favorite of the duo, but I do see a possibility in Marth's return. He and Roy seemed to stand out the most compared to the other Smash Bros when I first unlocked them.

I wouldn't imagine Jigglypuff being let go. Jiggly seems very popular from what I've noticed, even though her skills are often risky. Perhaps it's just the people I know that noticed Jigglypuff, but I still wouldn't think Jigglypuff would be cut out.

Well, in regards to Marth, he IS returning for a Fire Emblem remake for the DS... Roy was in SSBM for promotional reasons. Chances are Marth may come back, with Ike replacing Roy as the "heavier" and more powerful Fire Embem character.

Now that Sheik's been revealed, all I care about now is the return of the Falcon. And Ganondorf. Please, Sakurai?

Interesting, what we all assumed before has been confirmed, ZZS's final smash gets you back into her Power Suit.

Chaotic Jan 16, 2008 03:17 AM

Also, if you guys haven't checked them out yet, some of the new commercials for Brawl in Japan.

First Video
Some of the Final Smashes look awesome in execution. And ooh, some Zelda's Lullaby music in there. :3:

And DK's final smash... For a strong guy like him... I was expecting more than just bongos.

Second Video
I can't tell who's rocking out as an assist trophy. :(

Third Video

Nothing much here... Just some taunts.

Still hoping that the Masked Boy has a chance at being in the roster. Wishful thinking though. -_-

(So, Ike has Counter too? Alright, definitely thinking about using Ike now. >=D)

Also, awesome commercials.

chato Jan 16, 2008 04:04 AM

Looks like those 2 Oendan characters' an assist trophy (see 4:09th minute mark on first vid! ). Other than the rest of awesome stuff. Im interested to see what song they'll dance to.

Now that Sheik's arrived, that leaked list may be true afterall...

scotty Jan 16, 2008 04:05 AM

Captain Falcon jumble hopped into smash bros from Infernal's journal, but ended up being forcefully removed by Sakurai.

Sheik doesn’t appear in The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, but we based her model on a design that was drafted up during the development of that game.
I'm more interested in the fact that they were originally going to have Sheik in Twilight Princess than her confirmation (I believe she was confirmed months ago in an interview along with Ganondorf actually?). Guess it's another thing that got cut in the rush to complete TP in time to meet the Wii launch date.

That's the main character from Daigassou Band Brothers for DS, I believe.

That interview was conducted with Eiji Aonuma with Game Informer back around Phantom Hourglass' release. May have been the Japanese release, though. He said that the Zelda team (EAD Group #3) submitted updated character designs for Sheik and Ganondorf. Also, yeah, that's Barbara the Bat from Daigasso! Band Brothers on the DS.

The first video Chaotic posted has a ton of great footage in there, including a brief look at the Stage Builder utility. It's worth watching.
