I've already resigned myself to the fact that I'm going to be spoiled for a ton of hidden stuff, and it doesn't really bother me. After all, I knew about all the hidden characters in Melee before I ever got it. Then again, I didn't get it until several years after it came out...

We're simply too busy. My brother-in-law works a full-time job, I attend classes Monday and Wednesday and work Friday/Saturday/Sunday, and on top of that he's got a kid who'll be turning 1 around the same time as I hit 21. This was going to be the only chance we really got to play together, and now that's gone thanks to this delay. :(

Sin Ansem Jan 15, 2008 06:31 AM

I'm pissed because this pushes it further into the semester. Sure It's still before my spring break, but that makes me WAIST FUCKING DEEP IN SIX PROJECTS, so less time for me!

NovaX Jan 15, 2008 06:44 AM

The PAL release date just probably got pushed back a year.

Dekoa Jan 15, 2008 06:45 AM

What really pisses me off is that they pushed it back further for us and not so much for them. It looks like to me they've already got it mostly done. Just need to work on the book and send it over here for translation. Why couldn't they be smart and send over a new copy of the game each and every time they got to a certain point so the translation team could release it here sooner.

AFTER A CERTAIN POINT THE NEW FEATURES FEEL TACKY SAKURAI. You've made us fucking wet with all this new stuff but in the end you are just like Duke Nukem Forever.

The game went gold in Japan, it hasn't in the US so that would suggest that the Japanese version was a lot further along.

Omnislash124 Jan 15, 2008 07:16 AM

You know, this doesn't bother me nearly as much. A delay doesn't, anyway, but March 9th date kind of sucks.

The Good? I have more time to play some of the games that I've wanted to play along with games I haven't finished yet. It'll also give me a chance to buy February release games like Apollo Justice.

The Bad? March 9th happens to be my first day of classes after spring break. That is my only issue.

But in the end, I'm not too disappointed. There's definitely more Wii games out there than this one. I haven't even finished Super Mario Galaxy yet.

UltimaIchijouji Jan 15, 2008 07:41 AM

FUCK DELAYS.

I really just want to buy this game so that I don't have to worry about spending the money allocated for it. It's not even about wanting to play the game anymore.

At least I have more time to acquire Wavebirds.

Buizel Jan 15, 2008 09:14 AM

A 1 week delay in Japan must mean they want moar copies to go around. As for the month delay in US/North America, I guess they're still working on localization, printing and maybe Wi-Fi tweaking.

It does suck for that month delay but I don't mind it. I have other games to play/finish. XD

SuperSonic Jan 15, 2008 09:37 AM

I don't get it...so it gets delayed a week in Japan but we don't get a week. No, we get a big fuck you and it's pushed back a month?! I was looking forward to playing this game with my college buddies during this last semester but that's starting to look like it won't happen if they keep pushing it.

Where the hell is our apology update, because that Pikmin stage just isn't going to cut it for me. I hope they finish the game early and bump the release date back up.

Honestly, I was expecting a Captain Falcon update along with the delay announcement. That would've been cool.

Either way, I could care less right now. I've got the pre-order and 60$ stored away for the purchase, now all I have to do is wait for the day it's released, and until then, I'll play through some awesome SNES RPGs to pass the time: EarthBound, FF4-6, Chrono Trigger, Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma. If you've got any other awesome RPG suggestions (Or awesome SNES games in general), I'd love to hear them. =P

Kanzaki Jan 15, 2008 10:46 AM

It should have been a worldwide release , I mean Japan got a week delay and we get a month delay,as long as we are not spoiled .

And just as Sin said , pushing it further into the semester is wrong, very very wrong :(

Oh, and the Pikmin stage looks nice.

wvlfpvp Jan 15, 2008 12:05 PM

So, who keeps dissing the update posts? Seriously? Yes, there's not usually "original content," but sweet copypasta can be nice sometimes.

Right here. Incase you haven't seen it yet.

I deeply apologize to the people who have looked forward to playing the game for so long and ask that you hold on just a little longer. Thank you for your patience.

I think he meant an amazing update to make the pain of the delay seem less significant. But I could be wrong.

I also do find it odd that our delay is 4x as long as the Japan delay. I wonder what the rational reasoning for that is.
Either way, the time gap in which the games were released were already wide enough, but this just kills it. Unless you manage to avoid the internet and friends, which you probably won't, you're going to get spoilers one way or another. Whether it be someone forgets to use a spoiler, your curiousity ends up killing you, you hear people talking about it in school, you google something and Brawl pops up with new info for some reason, et cetera. I know there's no way I can last over a month without getting spoilers.

Kanzaki Jan 15, 2008 12:57 PM

I don't think it has to do with translation, Japanese Melee had an option to change to engleish, right? So I guess it will be the same with Brawl. Maybe more copies?

And yeah, curiosity will probably spoil everything, but I will try to be away from Brawl after Japan gets it (lol, almost impossible).

Monkey King Jan 15, 2008 01:29 PM

Does Nintendo manufacture all their packing materials in house? If not, it could be delays in printing manuals or boxes or something like that.

Still, boo-urns to delays. It was so close, too. ;_;

No, you're right. The last time they had a delay, they announced Sonic would be in Brawl. At that point, I was alright with the delay and I didn't mind waiting until February...plus it was good because if they had released it on December 3rd I don't think I would've done so well on finals week.

I'm just wondering what could possibly take another month here that only takes another week in Japan? I don't care about spoilers anymore, I just want to be able to play the game. Too bad they couldn't release a demo of it to keep us tied over until March 9th.

value tart Jan 15, 2008 01:53 PM

It's entirely possible they just pushed both release dates back to be able to make more copies of the game, nothing more, nothing less. Since when does the Dojo owe you anything for the game being delayed?

Dark Nation Jan 15, 2008 01:54 PM

Given that Sakurai announced the delay last night, TONIGHT is the night to see if someone spectacular is shown... then again, probably not =\

value tart Jan 15, 2008 01:57 PM

I just thought of something: the logical reasoning behind this could be:

Push back Japan's release date one week to make more copies.
Push back America's release date four weeks so they can spend 2 weeks making Japanese copies, then get a 2 week head start on America's copies, then start cranking them out for both countries simultaneously.

trackjacket Jan 15, 2008 03:49 PM

I think Mo0's correct about this merely being a manufacturing-related issue as the primary cause for the delay. You can't do anything development-wise a week before release (in Japan), and the game is definitely finished.

I don't really care too much, there are a lot of games coming out between now and March 9th.

shadowlink56 Jan 15, 2008 06:05 PM

My biggest worry with the delay now is that everyone expects it to be absolutely perfect. That's how everyone here and on the rest of the 'tubes is justifying the delay. If there's something to complain about this time (like a problem with wi-fi or bugs), shit's REALLY gonna hit the fan.

Lukage Jan 15, 2008 08:06 PM

Mods, change the thread again to call the game Duke Nukem Forever, please.
