This is the one I use. Kinda pricey, but it came with my phone bundle.

Inhert Nov 19, 2006 05:32 PM

I didn't try it but I'll probably use the ps2 headset that I bought a while ago (to play Lifeline XD)

it will probably work well, but it's wired but the cable is long enough to not bother me that much XD

Double Post:
anyone know when the ps2 memory card adapter will be release? because it's fun to play ps2 on the ps3 but I don't want to star over >.> or is there some other way to transfer ps2 save game on the ps3?

It's not, not by a mile and a half.

The last few launchs for ANYTHING has had at least one game when the system came out that convinced me to keep it, but Resistance is so ordinary that I coudln't care less even if I tried.

Alas, it's a dilemma.

SouthJag Nov 19, 2006 10:00 PM

Personally, I'm having a ton of fun with Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom. Granted, it's standard hack n' slash material, but hey it looks good.

Genji's pretty damn fun too, and would be so much more fun if it weren't for some questionable camera angles. Still, all in all it's pretty cool.

Well, as I mentioned before, I don't play many FPS games, and I certainly haven't tried out Gears of War or Halo. I find Resistence perfectly acceptable for a launch game, but I can understand if FPS players might not find much new to it. That said, it's also a bit premature to judge a system's future purely by its launch lineup. Did the PS2 even have any notable launch games?

Pietak Nov 19, 2006 10:23 PM

Well, there was Timesplitters... That was very close to launch, but I don't think it was a launch title. Other than that, the PS2 launch titles were quite abysmal.

really? then I'm sold I'll ask this for Christmas, it seem pretty fun from the video ^^

Gengi is like a mix of Onimusha 3 and dynasty warriors to me XD seem fun, but the gameplay seem a little too slow (why I tend to go for untold legend which seem to be fast with some crazy move XD)

I don't remember seeing any good game on launch, maybe tekken but at that time I din't like any fighting game. I remember ending up with Orphen: scion of sorcery which at that time I had a good time on it, but now the game is so not good XD I keep it just for nostalgy, because it was my first ps2 game XD

SouthJag Nov 19, 2006 10:32 PM

I forget when Zone of the Enders came out, but I think it was still inside the PS2's launch "window." It was a pretty good game all things considered.

I, too, had Orphen: Scion of Sorcery. I got rid of it though. :/ Almost wish I still had it.

Inhert Nov 19, 2006 10:40 PM

zone of the enders came out about 6 mouth after the launch, wish I had bought this game at that time, I only rented it and now that I own the second one I would really like to play the first again ; ;

It only had two of the greatest launch games ever, one of them was completely ignored despite glowing reviews. ;_;

Which one!

Inhert Nov 19, 2006 10:53 PM

oh yeah! SSX wow that was fun XD I didn't own th game but it made me buy SSX3 (on gamecube though XD)

and I remember having quite some fun with sky odyssey too, but it was only a rental.

Soldier Nov 19, 2006 10:55 PM

Well the next few months are ports of excellent games (FEAR, Half Life 2, Ninja Gaiden, Oblivion). This might not satisfy people who played them already, but good news for me; I've never played any. I'm looking forward to all of them.

Inhert Nov 19, 2006 10:58 PM

roh ninja gaiden! I forgot about it, I'll be sure to check that out (when will it be release?. Unfortunately I already own Half-life 2 and FEAR on PC and Oblivion didn't impress me much, I might rent it to see if I'll enjoy it more on a console than on the PC...

Soldier Nov 19, 2006 11:06 PM

They said spring for Ninja Gaiden, Oblivion is in December I think along with FEAR, and I think they said first quarter of 2007 for Half-Life 2. I think I'm most interested in Oblivion at the moment due to its sheer length.

Cobalt Katze Nov 20, 2006 12:23 AM

Wheee... Had an awesome team deathmatch bout tonight. I got on a massive killing spree as chimera just rushing people in rage mode. Got the Assassin medal for 20 consecutive kills, woo :D Unranked games though. I aught to try a ranked one sometime.

Apparently you level up too, and can get new stuff to equip your human model with... Though I haven't progressed much on that at all yet.

Soldier Nov 20, 2006 12:49 AM

Yeah, I'm not sure what leveling up does either. I know you can unlock new skins, but not entirely sure what they are or how to unlock them. I saw someone using a black guy but that's about it. :/

Also Katze I outranked you in our last match (4th place baby). ;)

Cobalt Katze Nov 20, 2006 01:18 AM

Psh, you left before I got my killing spree on ;)

Inhert Nov 20, 2006 01:32 AM

omg I just watch this new ps3 commercial and just found out that Sixaxis is a palindrome XD

for me I really like those ps3 commercial, I think they really go "beyond" what we are use to with simple game commercial ^^

Lacerta Nov 20, 2006 02:26 AM

So, this (close up version here) just happened to a friend, and it looks like he'll probably have to take it up with Sony or something, since there are no more PS3s around here to replace it with.

Soldier Nov 20, 2006 02:59 AM

Damn that's nasty. I was starting to think most of the systems would be working just fine given the lack of complaints. That just makes me appreciate my own console more.

just don't decide to quit on me, okay.

Any updates on upcoming game releases? Will we be getting any of the aforementioned ports this year?

Gears is third person, not first, but I don't blame you for not knowing that. Mo0 didn't either until he opened the game up.

I guess saying Resistance is fine as a launch title makes sense I guess, since most launch FPSes (including the recent Perfect Dark Zero, and possibly Red Steel [haven't had a chance to try it but I hear it's not any good]) are pretty crappy. But right now it's the best game of the launch, and it's still purely mediocre. Hell, I'm deriving more enjoyment out of the extremely simple ExciteTrucks than I am out of this.

As for the PS2 launch...if you promise not to laugh, I got some good milage out of Smuggler's Run back in the day.

SouthJag Nov 20, 2006 12:54 PM

Smuggler's Run was the shit, no questions. SSX was fantastic too -- a buddy of mine and I stayed up all night and played it just trying to beat teh hi-score.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Nov 20, 2006 01:02 PM

Yeah, but it holds up about as well as Battle Arena Toshinden. In retrospect, it really WASN'T that good, but was pretty entertaining at the time for reasons that are pretty hard to understand now.

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Nov 20, 2006 01:04 PM

Fantavision liek whut

To be honest, I happened to get a kick out of Evergrace. The little launch title that could (for me and like three other guys).

People are slightly exaggerating because of the letdown behind it, but no, it's not any good. Call of Duty 3 is plenty good with the control scheme from what I've heard, but that might not count because of its non-exclusivity.

I did know that, but I made the comparison based on the feel and setting (soldiers shooting up aliens...well, alien in appearance and feel anyway).

I won't, since in a couple of years we may look back and say "what, you thought Resistence was fun? ROFLMAO!"

Anyway, looks like Linux and some other OS is available to install to the PS3. Downloads and instructions can be found here.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=129437

It sounds simple enough to install, but I'm wondering what I'll get out of doing that right now. Aside from future homebrew emulators, I don't exactly know what Linux can do for my PS3.
