Yeah, it costs nearly 700 GP, and I don't think the Horde has that much to spare offhand.

Also it requires the body which I have pointedly removed for reasons of let-somebody-else-play-it's-nothing-personal. :(

Araes Mar 2, 2009 07:57 PM

That does bring up a good point. What is the policy on raising dead within this game? As at some point, it would become trivial for parties to go back and raise all of their members, which implies that unless there is a TPK, there will be no rotation. Which is fine, others should just plan on that if its the case.

Also, from the Player's Handbook:

Quote:

The subject returns with a death penalty: –1 to all attack rolls, skill checks, saving throws, and ability checks. This death penalty fades after the subject reaches three milestones.

Sarag Mar 2, 2009 08:00 PM

well if he's not going to let me be raised, then why should he let you?

And to be fair, it's certainly not like I was hogging my turn! I'm just pissed that I didn't realize how dire my straights were until it was too late. :(

As a general rule I won't allow it, since it prevents rotation as you point out. Yeah, I could get around it with TPKs but I would prefer to avoid TPKs if at all possible since it would take all the work I've done on a given adventure and toss it in the bin.

Which is not to say that Raise Dead is entirely without function; it just won't work on adventurers.

I did do what little I could to try to save Brigid (since having the newest player be the first to die is kind of lame and there would be ample opportunities for the spiders to murder someone else) but nobody had ever gone to such low HP before and it took me by surprise as much as anyone else.

FatsDomino Mar 2, 2009 08:15 PM

Yeah, it's better this way. If we were all together in some dank basement rolling d20s it might be a different story. I once had to drag a heavy ass dwarf who fell 200 feet to his death after a floating chicken brain ran into our lowering platform (failed his reflex check something fierce) after getting critical'd by a thri-kreen with shield-bashing. It cost some good money to get him fixed up proper.

Araes Mar 2, 2009 08:18 PM

Not trying to imply that he would allow us to be raised, or that you were hogging your turn. On the first I just thought it would be useful to have it set out, as its a natural question. On the second, I've found reading the turns of people amusing, no matter who's playing, which is the real interest. So no-one can really hog a turn, as the point's just to have fun and the sharks enjoy being in the water as much as diving into the game.

Edit: Think my worst was being the plane shifting mage and being the one to die when the party was in the upper levels of the Abyss. Felt bad just seeing them all go, "aww hell, now what?" We're always light on clerics, because even though they were all kinds of awesome in 3.5, nobody still wanted to play one.

Sarag Mar 2, 2009 08:41 PM

Yeah, I figured you were surprised Pang with your post a page back. To be honest I thought you were talking about how, if knk healed me, I'd just keel back over into a KO again. :(

My next character is going to have beastly HP.

Bradylama Mar 3, 2009 02:33 AM

biggest frowny face ever :(

Skexis Mar 3, 2009 02:44 AM

This has been like The Empire Strikes Back of campaigns. =o

Does this mean the next one has ewok party and Hayden Christensen?

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Mar 3, 2009 05:50 AM

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Do we all get angered by her death to the extent we go super-saiyan and get huge combat bonuses now?

Although given that he's still poisoned and prone next to a swarm of spiders, I think Bob's probably going to die without ever using his Gentle Repose or Wizard's Curtain rituals. He never got that face paint he so wanted either. :(

Even though Brigid's body was collected by Valkyries, did her gear stay behind? That anti-venom potion need not go to waste...

They'd need to replay the next one again 6 months after the fact and replace knk with Zergrinch for it to turn out that nasty.

Ayup.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Mar 3, 2009 07:35 AM

Is drinking a potion you find on the floor a single minor action? I mean, can Bob drink Brigid's anti-venom potion and a do a second wind in one turn?

The unmovable stubborn Mar 3, 2009 07:44 AM

Picking up and then drinking would be two minor actions, but you can do two minors and a standard (Second Wind) in one turn.

Whoa. Just caught up with the adventure after not reading for a while. I can't believe Pang actually managed to kill someone.l

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Mar 3, 2009 01:32 PM

Pang, how's the line of sight down that corridor? Can Bob get a fire blast down there from where he is or would he need to go further in to hit anything?

The unmovable stubborn Mar 4, 2009 04:09 AM

You have line of sight on squares V30, W28, W29, X28

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Mar 4, 2009 08:16 AM

If I use elven accuracy on a blast attack, do I re-roll all the hit rolls or just one?

The unmovable stubborn Mar 4, 2009 09:39 AM

It says "reroll an attack roll" so if you make multiple rolls on an attack you'd pick only one of them to reroll.

knkwzrd Mar 4, 2009 05:18 PM

I'm waiting on Bob's damage report to act.

The unmovable stubborn Mar 4, 2009 05:25 PM

He hasn't killed anything, if that's your concern.

knkwzrd Mar 4, 2009 05:27 PM

It was. I'm on it.

Fluffykitten McGrundlepuss Mar 5, 2009 05:36 AM

Pang, I didn't realise Bob needed to save to shake off slowness, I thought it just stopped if we moved away from the spiders. As such, he wouldn't have been able to move so far away, do you want to move him one square south east?

The unmovable stubborn Mar 5, 2009 07:26 AM

That was actually a glitch on my part, he wasn't slow. I glanced at the minimap and mistook the prone icon for slowed. Once I realized my mistake the dice app wouldn't let me hide the evidence.
