@Acer
This is true but look at Melee. Who the hell knew who Roy and Marth were back when that came out? No one. Hell the game they were in never even released in the US (at least to my knoweledge). So I wouldn't count a GS character as totally being out of the picture. Though perhaps unlikely. Especially now that they've opened the window to 3rd party characters.

I do agree 100% that they need to release a new GS game. Like fuck man, c'mon.

No. They're making an interesting PC golf game that uses multiple screens.

TO THE GOOGLE MOBILE!!!!

Actually, seems we haven't heard about about that PC game since last year so it may have been canceled. However you are correct in that they're making a golf game WITH CAPCOM. So yeah, the only good thing you'll probably see from Camelot is Waluigi and while I think he's hilarious a lot of people will argue that he's terrible so yeah some wonderful points for Camelot.

See but Golden Sun isn't a new franchise to anyone. It's time has been long been over with no reprisal. Fire Emblem had been worked on over and over in Japan and was a strong franchise. Then when they brought it over they actually KEPT MAKING FIRE EMBLEM GAMES. As far as I'm concerned Golden Sun is over. And honestly what is a Golden Sun character going to do that Pokemon Trainer, Ike, and Captain Olimar don't already cover. All Golden Sun characters would likely feel like a clonish mish-mash. I could see Golden Sun characters as Assist Trophies considering they have an equally dead franchise of Sin & Punishment with an assist trophy. A playable character I highly doubt.

Not to mention that very few second party developed Nintendo characters have even been included in Smash Bros. The ones that have also have been incredibly popular, see: Kirby and Pokemon. The one exception being Ness, but HAL Labs developed the game, so.

I don't really expect any Nintendo second party/unpopular series' characters to be appearing in Brawl.

Info regarding Ike/King Dedede from 2ch, translated via GAF:

Quote:

Ike
Definitely a heavy character
His come back move is side + only you land on your back when using it (??)
Holding side and b will allow you to move a lot more(faster maybe?)
High attack power, sends enemies flying pretty easily, attacks are a little slow, long reach.
Opponents were MetaKnight and Wario, had faught them without any issue (i assume hes referring to balance)
When being ganged up on, seems like it's tough to do a downwards air strike seems like your armor goes up if you are in the air
Couldn't execute his trump card (final smash??)
No loading?
He got first place

Dedede
In his intro he comes out of a Wado shrine(??)
Pretty heavy, slow attacks all around power type character
After a jump you can jump around 4 more times
Up B sends dudes flying pretty hard
Throwing wado's kinda sucks. (don't know what he means by the next part)
Couldn't do his final smash
he got 3rd place

I don't remember their taunts, sorry.

Brawl's Update: Challenges

"Trophies, stickers, music...

Super Smash Bros. Brawl certainly has its share of "rewards" for you to collect. Among them all are several for which I’ve set certain appearance conditions.

So, to help you manage these performance-based rewards, I’ve created the Challenges mode. This mode gives you hints about what you need to do to unlock these items!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamem..._080114a-l.jpg
This is the Challenges screen.

It’s totally empty. I’d say that if anyone saw this empty screen in-game, it would be an extremely rare occurrence.

Each one of these windows has some condition or another that will unlock it.

When you meet a set of conditions while playing through the game, that window will automatically break open.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamem..._080114b-l.jpg
KSSSSHHH! Then you get what’s inside!

If there’s a CD inside, you can listen to that CD on the spot.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamem..._080114c-l.jpg
Hmmm... Nice.

When a window breaks, you see a red silhouette of the windows on either side. When you align the cursor with these windows, you can see the conditions for breaking them open, too.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamem..._080114d-l.jpg
As you can see...

Use this to take on challenge after challenge so you can earn more, more, MORE prizes! It’s much easier to get excited about it when you know what you have to do.

By the way, you can use as many Golden Hammers as there are down below.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamem..._080114e-l.jpg
Even windows that aren’t open...

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamem..._080114f-l.jpg
Can be broken open with a little force!

But use the hammers at your own discretion. Once used, a hammer will never return. You’ll want to save them for challenges you just can’t seem to overcome.

Oh, but you should also know that there are some windows even a trusty Golden Hammer won’t break.

And be careful of friends who might egg you on. I mean, imagine you have a hammer, some pristine glass, and a friend who just keeps telling you to break the glass...

It makes you want to break it, huh?"

Pretty sweet update. xD

Looks like Birdo is confirmed to be in. She'll most likely be an AT.

you really should quit member moderating when you aren't so hot yourself:

Spoiler:

VIEWTIFUL JOE!

okay...it'd be kinda interesting to do with the final smash being the super slow motion thing

Zeta26 Jan 14, 2008 02:45 AM

Though, with today's updates. There's still been no official word on the delay. Which I'm hoping doesn't happen.

I really like today's update. It kind of reminds me of the license board from FFXII... except its implementation here is much better.

trackjacket Jan 14, 2008 03:16 AM

Whoops, sorry, I spoiler tagged the pic. I have a fairly large monitor, so it didn't appear to be stretching the board out from my end. My mistake.

This was a surprisingly neat update. I wonder if this will also reveal how to unlock hidden characters?

SuperSonic Jan 14, 2008 09:57 AM

That's a pretty sweet update! I'm wondering just hard these challenges are if they added those hammers in there and what the possible limit of hammers in the game is. There looks like there are a lot of challenges to keep us busy. Let the countdown to the release begin!!

I actually think of something else:

- I'll take Hidden Character for 2000 coin Alex.
- Alex: It's a Daily Doubles! How much are you going to wager?
- Er, let's make this a True Daily Doubles!
- Alex: Okay. Answer: This character is the most wishful thinking among fans.
- ...

Yeah, it's a great update. It's for those who doesn't know / doesn't want to go to gamefaqs. :tpg:

EDIT: Blah. I thought it include characters. But lolz nevertheless.

If it's anything like Air Ride's challenge lists, the hammers will be some of the possible prizes for completing challenges, just as free checks were prizes in KAR. And there were 5 apiece for each 120-challenge list.

Probably NOT, but it gives you a general idea of what it might sound like... then again they could go totally :tpg: and do something like Donkey Kong. "OMG ITS NOT EVEN THE SAME SONG" "I KNOW AWESOME MCTAWSOME"

lol Indeed. Given that the Melee stages are starting to pop up like Wildfire. Though, they'll probably be in their Brawl arrangements. Along with the Hyrule Temple.

New Update
- Distant Planet [Pikmin Stage]

Pikmin’s protagonist, Captain Olimar, was forced to make an emergency landing on this unexplored planet.

Let’s just call it the Distant Planet for now, shall we?

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/stage..._080115a-l.jpg

The flooring in the middle of the stage is made of vines and is very bouncy.

As you play, you’ll see numbered Pellets fall from the Pellet Posies around the stage. Grab one of these and throw it into a nearby Onion to get items.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/stage..._080115b-l.jpg

Here’s a Pellet and an Onion.

Also, this planet experiences frequent torrential downpours. When things get wet, you’ll want to stay away from the hill on the left, as it gets pretty treacherous.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/stage..._080115c-l.jpg

Whoa, that’s some fierce rain right there!

Oh yeah—there are some fierce creatures prowling the area, so watch your step.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/stage..._080115d-l.jpg

You sure it’s safe to stand there?

... ... What am I saying. Of course it’s not safe. Anyhow, take care that you don’t get gobbled up.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/stage..._080115e-l.jpg

Chomp!

Zakiller2000 Jan 15, 2008 02:00 AM

Beaten to it. xD

Looks very good, and the numbered pellets and onions sound great.

Lizardcommando Jan 15, 2008 02:01 AM

Damn, that is quite possibly the coolest looking Super Smash Bros. stage ever created.
