Quick question on character options. Its not listed among the races in the intro post, but are Dopplegangers from the 4e MM a valid choice? Was thinking about trying out a Dopple-Bard who turns into the folks he's singing about.
ie: "Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale, a tale of a fateful trip, that started from this tropic port, aboard this tiny ship." and he'd turn into the Skipper. Figure by the time a slot's open, even with possible TPK, the PHB 2 will be out. |
Yeah, any of the PC-statted races in the back of the MM are allowable, I just don't promote them since their options and abilities (particularly feat selection) are usually fairly limited compared to races which have been given the full treatment. But if you want to take an informed risk, go nuts.
Also, no Bladelings, because those things are silly. |
Edit: Actually, not sure if I'm supposed to do that. Is it intended that you stat and make all characters? |
Actually, it's not a good idea to go ahead and create a character just yet. It'll be awhile before they get to us.
|
True, and good point. Even with a full TPK they are still three full groups from me. With the way the Horde's been playing, could be Epic by the time that rolls around.

Considering its down to only one KO now (who's stable), I won't be surprised if the Horde somehow scrapes out of this without losing a single person.

|
Welp, that's that then.
Might want to edit your move, knk, what with having a small invalid-target situation. |
How do I have an invalid target? I still have an Inspiring Word left this encounter, and Brigid is within burst 5, and I'm not doing anything else.
|
Yes, but Brigid's turn comes before Soggys, see, and she is therefore dead which, expectedly, makes it quite impossible to Inspire her.
I was waiting to see if Deni decided to Divine-Mettle her and maybe save her that way, but alas no. |
Well, shit.
I guess I'm healing Bob then. |
Well fuck, she'll never let me hear the end of this.
Can I alter my choice? :( |
Yeah if you wanna go ahead and edit, fine. If she ends up living, I'll just use knk's original instruction to heal her afterward.
|
done and done. Thanks Cap'n.

So what are my options at this point? Do I need to dwarven chainmail myself before the start of my next turn so I don't die again? |
Edit: wait, no. Still dead. Needed a 7 or better :( |
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
|
|
Classy.

:(
One of my rituals talks about prepping corpses so that Raise Dead can still work on them for long periods of time. Which says to me that dead people can be brought back. What's that all about? |
It requires a higher level ritual magic, namely the Raise Dead ritual. Level 9 if I remember? You might be able to get someone to cast it for you, although in this edition its kind of expensive until you get to the level where you're supposed to use it, because all the costs are exponential.
Edit: Level 8 actually. Description on page 311 of the Player's Handbook. Market price is 680 gp. |
Well, I'm pretty sure you can drag a dead companion to your local witchdoctor to bring them back to life minus a level down of experience and some major gp. However, based on how this game is being run it's possible Pang won't allow this. Plus you have to see-saw whether you want a new character with levels matching the groups or lost time/lost gp/lost exp/plus dragging a body around. But no matter since Pang has zapped Brigid out of there. On to the next crawler.
|
Oh, so he did. I thought the flash of light was just flourish. Nevermind then.
