Yeah, ain't happening, guys. Besides I'd much rather support Nintendo on this excellent game completely.

Additional Spam:
looooooooooooooooooooooooool bumped up to $49.82 YOU LOSE. ='DDDDD

My order for the game still shows it at $20... so maybe I lucked out? In any case, if it does bump back up I'll just cancel it.

Identity Crisis Jan 11, 2008 04:40 PM

Wal-Mart isn't going to uphold that bargain price. There's probably no harm in trying, but I'm not counting on it.

Back on the topic of Olimar, though, I'm curious as to how fragile the Pikmin are. They probably have their own HP counters, and I'm guessing that they can only take roughly 5-10% before they die.

immp Jan 11, 2008 04:50 PM

And if you have them on you how do you get them off...how long do they last on you...if someone shields before they hit do they have to called back or do they die.
He's so complex, I must have him.

Megalith Jan 11, 2008 05:59 PM

You guys do know that big retailers typically honor their price mistakes, regardless of what the disclaimer says? That's how I scored H3 for $30 when it just came out, and I swapped it at Gamestop for $40 in credit. You'll probably get your order cancelled if you bought in bulk, or ordered after the first wave, but a large group of people are bound to get their copies.

My bad. Continue Smash Bros. discussion.

FatsDomino Jan 11, 2008 07:23 PM

That sounds cool. I just hope you guys keep a good eye out on your orders so you don't miss out on getting your game.

Krelian Jan 11, 2008 07:26 PM

Sigh. Release is practically right round the corner for America, while we're practically no close to touching it than we were at E3 '06. :(

Slash Jan 11, 2008 07:38 PM

Buy a US wii and then buy smash bros. brawl.

Oh wait..there aren't any available

Sakabadger Jan 11, 2008 07:50 PM

There's no way Wal-Mart will turn around and charge people full price for the game if they placed the order when the game was still listed at $20. You can bet that people would complain, credit card companies would fight it like mad and that Wal-Mart would lose so bad.

They'll either honor the deal, outright cancel it, or try to offer some incentive of some sort (maybe a small discount or whatever).

FatsDomino Jan 11, 2008 07:54 PM

Dunno. Says pretty clearly in their Terms of Use section that they reserve the right to cancel all those orders. They will either contact you about the order asking if you want to pay the new price or to cancel it or contact your saying your order has been canceled. Tough cookies if they do but it's within their right. I'm just informing you to keep a level eye out for this so you don't miss out.

Don't worry, PAL regions get Donkey Kong Barrel Blast the same week America gets Super Smash Bros Brawl. it's pretty fair!

Except we already have Barrel Blast

That's not what I meant. I know they can cancel your order (which is standard practice and totally acceptable), but they absolutely cannot charge you more than the price you agreed upon when you hit "confirm" on their checkout page unless they want to start a serious feud with CC companies (and lose). If you bought into this deal, you'll either pay $20 for the game or $0 and get it canceled.

I already had the game ordered from another source, anyway. I doubt supply would run out on Day 1 either, anyway...

I see Wal-Mart just canceling them sending out an email then saying "Due to a significant pricing error, your order has been canceled"

We all know Wal-Marts LAST concern is the customer. If they really did care, they would hire competent employees (cause where I live I have yet to see people who are helpful)

Now if this was in store and they don't honor it, expect shit storm

Most likely they'll just end up canceling it.

If they did charge those people the full price they'd just do their usual tactics and spend millions of dollars fighting lawsuits that they have no hope of winning.

Because Wal-Mart doesn't want to be seen losing.

RacinReaver Jan 11, 2008 08:45 PM

As a note, I've jumped on those pricing mistakes before, and with buy.com a few times I've gotten $10 gift certificates as a gift for them cancelling my order since it was mispriced.

Sakabadger Jan 11, 2008 10:06 PM

As expected, Wal-Mart is canceling all the orders, but in a very sneaky way: "We have received your request to cancel the item(s) listed below from your order (#2677303111501)." Sneaky, because I obviously never requested to cancel (and I don't know if it's even possible for the customer to cancel on their own).

Anyway, it was fun while it lasted and there's no harm done. Compared to Amazon, their shipping was bizarre anyway. Game is released on the 10th, but 1-day shipping from Wal-Mart arrives on the 15th? Wacko.

Buizel Jan 11, 2008 10:29 PM

Yep. Wal-Mart is a lie! I got the same email.

Oh well... *close walmart.com account since I won't be using it for anything else*

EDIT: Blah. Can't delete account. So I'll just remove my CC info and let the account rot. lol

Dark Nation Jan 12, 2008 12:17 AM

Wal-mart cancelled my order. Ahh well. Guess I'll pay for the rest on my Gamestop preorder then :p

Also, Gamestop is apparently having a Buy one Xbox Game (Used) get one free. The lesser valued one is the one that's free of course, offer good until the 17th.

Now getting back to the thread: I would have really expected Cap. Olimar to be like an assist trophy and not actually playable. This makes me wonder what other characters are still in store (That are not third-party).

Slash Jan 12, 2008 01:37 AM

Whats great is that even though clicking the pre-order link doesn't work

its still listed

Pro-tip: I know!

FatsDomino Jan 12, 2008 02:40 AM

It would be even if they let you guys use the DK Bongos in your version.

trackjacket Jan 12, 2008 02:47 AM

I probably would've picked up Bongo Blast if it supported the Bongos like it was supposed to before Nintendo decided to port it up to Wii.

I dunno if this' third party or not. But we may also be getting a sword fighter as well; Golden Sun's Isaac. Or, so I think from reading the list.

FatsDomino Jan 12, 2008 03:48 AM

I think I'm willing to bet good money that there will be no Golden Sun characters. Very serious.

Hell, Chibi Robo is more franchiseable than Golden Sun if only because Camelot doesn't know how to quit being a cocktease and make a fucking game already. OH WE'RE WORKING ON AN RPG FOR THE GAMECUBE. WINK WINK. OH YEAH GAME FOR WII. BLOWS A KISS. YEAH TIME FOR GOLF GAME FOR PC. DON'T FORGET THERE'S THAT RPG WE MAY BE MAKING. Fuck Camelot.
