I call it an investment (which really doesn't make much of a return for you money). I like the positive nuance it generates instead of, "wasting money on trivial things of life".

How workable is aiming in mulitplayer? Is it good? Bad?
|
I don't think I'll be able to take MGS online. I'm already perfectly content with the Metal Gear games and the extra stuff on Snake vs Monkey.
|
The aiming of MGS3 online is... well interesting. For long range you can use the laser sight that's on some guns, and for others you have to go into first-person, and then aim using the iron sights. For close range all you need to do is face in the general direction and pull the trigger and it'll auto aim. But trust me, if you get close enough to use the auto aim, you tend to be better off using your knife or your melee attack.
I know this system sounds complicated, and it kind of is. But once you get the hang of it it works really well, and you'll appreciate the freedom it gives you to develop your own method of attack. If you like team based combat, this game does it the best. If you like fighting on your lonesome though, it can get tedious. And there's a cool mode that resembles Splinter Cell's online portion where you can do Snake VS a selectable team (ex. the Ocelots, Kruchevs men, Volgen's Men, ect.). One of my favouriate parts of MGSO is that if you do team games, the person with the best stats on each team gets to use the team leader character. (ex. you have a team of ocelots and the best player plays as Ocelot himself). You don't really get any special stats or techniques because of it, but it's cool to see the faction leaders running around the battlefield. *This post has not been spell checked* |
Actually, the special characters DO get special abilities.
Ocelot has a bulletproof hat, which prevents headshots. Solokov gets a stealth camo (although they give this character to the worst player) and the third guy (i forget his name) has a one hit kill CQC move |
Cool I didn't know that. heh heh
Thanks for correcting me there. ^^ |
Yeah it'll be alot longer for me to get online considering I just sold my copy for over $110.
Seriously, is Existence really worth that much when you can just watch all the cutscenes on the first disc with the regular edition? |

that's exactly right. But I've also heard that the disc that comes with MGS3 SE is only part one of the whole thing. Hopefully this is not the case though because it would be a pain to get the rest.
|
Part one?
Then where's the rest of it... |
Somewhat crappy that the third disc only works on PS2s. I was hoping to be able to pop this bad boy in my DVD player and watch it from that.

For good aiming on the machine guns just hold L1+R1 while shooting =]

I heard there was a movie included. What is that about?

I'm surprised actually that the LE is hard to find. My friend put a reserve on it in Babbages, but forgot to reserve the LE. He did, however, get Saga vol. 1 for reserving it. So we went there, and they had no LE, so we went to the EB across the way in the mall, and they had like 12 copies of it. So he and I both bought a copy (I don't have Saga, but I really wish I did).
Online mode was pretty fun, although all people were doing was teamkilling half the time. We couldn't really play that well due to the awful lag as well. The movie was...interesting, yet disappointing. It was arranged in such a fashion that if you had not played the game, you would have no idea what was going on. It also made the game appear incredibly lame. Without the actual badass gameplay, all it really showed to me was how pointless and ridiculous the Cobra Unit was, and how much of an idiot Volgin was. Pretty much half the time I was just insulting Volgin, or someone else. It really drew away the serious tone of the game, and leaves alot of random questions. Singint's voice appears like near the end of the game, yet you have no idea who he is. Also, near the end, after Snake leaves Graznyj Grad in the game, his outfit changes for like a half hour for no discernible reason. Then it changes back. The worst part about it really was the "recut" aspect of it. It would have been much better had they just told the story in order. If any normal story goes in the order 1234567, this was 7124365. They jumbled everything up (perhaps attempting a pulp fictionesque style but failing miserably), and again, if you hadn't played the game, you would be utterly confused. I wish it could have been more accessible though, so I could show it to non fans/gamers. I really wish they did that better, as that's why I decided to get it. What does anyone else with LE think of the movie? |
That's the whole movie, then?
What is this Part 2 or Vol. 2 I'm hearing about. |

Thanks Pietak. |
Meh, I also thought they were the same thing. >_>
Existence disc -- > LE Saga Vol. 1 --> Pre-order bonus Amirite. |

I downloaded Saga Vol. 1, so I didn't lose out much by not pre-ordering. And from what I heard, the Existence disc isn't the greatest thing ever. |
Please pass on the goods?

I got it from this thread. Specifically Anubis' post. I haven't watched it yet, though. |
I'm just about to meet up with EVA on the mountaim. I'm guess I'm about half way through the game eh? Wow, pretty much most of these areas I kill the guards, very few "rooms" so far I've left untouched.
