Your post specified that he couldn't make a new topic (and the existing one is still closed), and I'm glad it was mentioned here. It was off-topic, but I wouldn't have known if it weren't posted. Don't want to tell you how to do your job, but with the way the board is run, this is the most approrpriate place to post it, especially with the recent Zelda Rev news.

But that's just my opinion.

FatsDomino Mar 23, 2006 09:52 AM

Hmmm... I may allow for another Rev thread soon from someone not on the list of those allowed depending on results for today and if you IM me first about it. Hopefully Iwata-ton will actually prove useful.

E3 fast approaching, I think we're all hoping for some good news :)

Sure at E3 but for now I'm thinking no on Rev discussion. Please get back to whatever you guys do about Twilight Princess in here.

It seems that there's a little release date mix-up going on:

Quote:

Nintendo's full of surprises lately. Everyone's chatting (and bitching) up a storm about Revolution-turned-Wii, and if a release date change on Amazon.com is to be believed, we might be seeing The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess a whole lot earlier than anyone expected: May 15.

According to the online retailer, Link's GameCube-with-Revolution-functionality adventure will start shipping to gamers in two weeks. Unfortunately, it's probably a little too early to start popping the champagne; retailers are notorious for making up release dates simply to update their databases.

Check out Amazon's product page to verify the listing! Yay! (maybe)

Wall Feces May 2, 2006 09:00 PM

If this turned out to be true, I would probably be the happiest person in all of Earth. So, it probably is not true.

But wow, imagine if they dropped THAT bomb on us right before E3? Good lord, that would be clever!

Helloween May 2, 2006 09:26 PM

When i saw the date in that report i pulled a kramer, and actually unintentionally flung my arms in the air and sent my swivel chair across the room with me in it. I was not expecting to see such an early date, which is probably one of the reasons i'm not believing it.

Josiah May 2, 2006 09:31 PM

People at EBGames told me September for an an official release of TP, and that the reason there had been all these delays is that there had been no official date given by Nintendo up until just recently; people besides Nintendo were just giving estimates, supposedly.

Granted, I don't have any article to back that up, and I'm not even sure how reliable that info is. The employees I talked to there had no clue what Ikaruga was, for example.

Lukage May 2, 2006 10:41 PM

People and web sites are still freaking out thinking the game's out in 2 weeks. Its not. Calm down and shut your pie holes.

Then drool and eat the pie...for Twilight is GREATNESS INDEED. But seriously, who would believe that BS?

Kimchi May 4, 2006 02:59 AM

You make it sound like everyone know that which info that lurks through internet is O or X. [I personally believe the info... since there isn't any relieable info other then that IMO]

chaofan May 4, 2006 09:22 AM

Well, releasing it now would help TP's sales not being taken away by Wii and all...

But it's not going to happen.

Matt May 7, 2006 09:38 PM

Joystiq seems to think that Twilight Princess will be bumped from the Gamecube to becoming a Wii title. Check it out:
Quote:

The TIME Wii tell-all has confirmed that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will feature Wiimote-specific functionality. TIME, trippin' off a self-confessed Errol Flynn flashback -- now that's old school! -- got a chance to use the Wii controller to sword fight, aim a bow and arrow, and reel in a "stubborn virtual fish."

While the details of the play-test where limited, the revelation suggests that Twilight Princess will play a major role in the Wii launch lineup. Twilight Princess is no longer a Wii-functional GameCube title. Uh-uh, Zelda just upgraded to next-gen status.
I call BS until I hear a confirmation, but I hope that it's not true. I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars just to play the game that was supposed to be the last hurrah of the Gamecube.

Forsety May 7, 2006 09:48 PM

Didn't Nintendo already debunk such a notion before? I remember this being mentioned in some magazine and Nintendo shooting it down. Someone correct me if I am wrong, however.

Helloween May 7, 2006 10:02 PM

I'm with Forsety. Nintendo has said that will be a Gamecube title, mind you they did deny Wii functionality initially, or am i mistaken.

I really don't want this to be true. I was so looking forward to wrapping my hands around this one for way too long to have to buy a new console to play it.

Wall Feces May 7, 2006 10:38 PM

Eh... I'm 50/50 on it. I'm getting the game and the Wii regardless, so, for whatever system it's on, it will be mine on day one. It would be pretty sweet seeing Zelda as a launch title for the Wii...

vuigun May 7, 2006 10:55 PM

I've had some childhood trauma regarding the Legend of Zelda series. (They always were too scary for my tastes.)

Although, after the fun I've had with Minish Cap, I might possibly try this one out. I'm really excited for the music, most of all, though.

Helloween May 7, 2006 10:57 PM

You've never played Ocaraina of Time? Man, you're missing out.

vuigun May 7, 2006 11:22 PM

Nope, haven't played it. Does it still hold up today? When I saw movies of it, even those scared me.

I can't see myself getting through a whole 3D zelda game. Considering that I never even finished the Gameboy 'Link to the Past'. Also, I never beat the last boss for the SNES Legend of Zelda. (What was that game? The big villian was a wizard.)

I keep telling people that. They don't listen to me. =(

I actually had a dream last night that I was young Link, and I had just found all of the Spiritual Stones, and I was putting them in their places in the Temple of Time, and the great stone door was about to open...and then I woke up. It was a FABULOUS dream (it even had music in the background!).

*sigh* That game will always have a special place in my heart...

Stop, stop, you're making me want to play it so badly.

If you're no good at exploration puzzles, then you won't get through Ocaraina of Time without a guide. I'm thinking the SNES Zelda you're talking about is LttP (Link to the Past). The last boss's name is Gannon.

Latley i've been feeding my addiction for Zelda with Majora's Mask. I'm just about to start the whole Water Temple thing, but it isn't easing my need for a new Zelda game at all. I'm praying that this TP being only for Wii announcement is total Bollocks, and i hope that Nintendo announces a release date for September, or as soon as freaking possible, cause i need new Zelda soon.

The thing is Nintendo never denied the Wiimote functionality, they just said that "no new info" about TP was released. And I really don't see a reason to make that game a Wii-only title. Someone else mentioned it a few months back - the strategy Nintendo is making now is best: Selling the new console with a great launch title as well as the old consoles still in stock.

Personally I think two different versions of the game will be released, one for GameCube and one for Wii, the latter version with Wii-functionality and maybe some graphical tweaks. If that's the case I'll get the Wii-version, even if the GCN-version will be released earlier.

That is exactly what I plan to do as soon as finals are over. I've never beaten the game in one day before so I think I'm going to try that. It'll be me and my GameCube from the afternoon til 3am (possibly accompanied by pretzels and peanutbutter which is a marvelous combination for a snack). Oh what a glorious day it will be...

Oh God the Great Bay Temple. The first time I tried to finish that place off that stupid eyeball miniboss stalled me for like a day and a half (on game time, AND I had already slowed time down), and I found the boss key with five minutes remaining in the three-day cycle. I was so aggravated that I didn't touch my N64 for a month. I needed that much time to recover. Yes, that was indeed a bad day.

Why would they bother though? When's the most recent release of a GameCube game? I guess I can't really talk, I usually don't keep up with any gaming news besides checking up on Zelda and Kingdom Hearts occasionally, but I mean...the games been delayed two or three times already. Why would they keep delaying it if they're not saving it for the new system? And where would the sense be in issuing a HUGE game that Nintendo knows EVERYBODY wants on an old system?

Prime Blue May 8, 2006 09:11 AM

Double profit. Call it the Capcom-strategy: Release a game for an old system. Wait a few months. Throw in some extras and re-release it for a new console. Laugh your ass off because of all the people buying it again.

Monkey King May 8, 2006 09:29 AM

There is no way Nintendo is devoting the time necessary to port Twilight Princess to the Wii. It's redundant for one, since Wii is backwards compatible with the Gamecube. If they're making it a full-on next gen title, then they'd essentially have to remake the game from scratch both to accomodate entirely new hardware, a Wii-only control scheme, and updated graphics. That's development of two games at once, and I doubt Nintendo has that kind of manpower to spare.

It's a given that Ninty isn't going to scrap TP this late in the game just to remake it on the Wii, and dual-production is out of the question, so all this talk is just idle speculation and/or misunderstandings of the added functionality being added for the Wii.

Damn, I wish they'd called their new console something different. It feels silly even to type that. >_<
