It's not that I didn't expect it to be that person, I was just wanting someone different. I was hoping a small plot twist would have occured somewhere along the way.
- The person under the mask didn't add ANYTHING to the game. It just (in the words of Leon) Pointless and stupid.

Like Resident Evil 4, the game just starts to feel like Chaos Legion, where you get a bunch of enemies to defeat and then move on....and I fucking HATED taht game.

In ten years of waiting for some story development in Resident Evil, nothing ...NOTHING has happened that has been slightly eerie/entertaining or worth talking with your friends about to try to get them into the game.

OmagnusPrime Mar 16, 2009 07:23 PM

I'd take a game I want to play with friends over a game story I want to discuss with friends. The story is fine, it drives events pretty well and moves at a reasonable pace throughout. The supporting files and documents give a reasonable insight into the world they've created and seem to tie up a bunch of threads from the series.

No, it's not an amazing story, but the RE games have never had amazing stories. What they have had is great set pieces and memorable gaming moments. Who doesn't remember the dogs leaping into the hallway the first time in RE1, for example. RE5 is certainly more action orientated, but I'm really enjoying it and have been more than to go back and replay sections many times over to look for items, emblems and other stuff.

You can kill em, just takes a lot of ammo to do so (which you probably won't have a lot of at that point in the game if it's your first playthrough). :(

Jessykins Mar 17, 2009 04:14 PM

You know what alligators like? A fucking magnum round to the head. Fully upgrade an L. Hawk, get infinite ammo, rape the game forever.

Jessykins Mar 17, 2009 05:15 PM

I've got me an infinite Hydra shotgun, Infinite L. Hawk, and Infinite Rocket Launcher. Only time I die now is if I fuck up a QTE.

Also Sheva's longbow sucks. So does the Gatling Gun.

Shenlon Mar 18, 2009 12:37 PM

well I finally got the game yesterday and played it solo and I gatta say, cpu Sheva is a fucking retard. To me she's just a walking purse whom I get items from, when she's not literally just shooting it away.

OmagnusPrime Mar 18, 2009 07:40 PM

Sheva's not that bad, you just have to limit her ammo and she takes a bit more care with it. Alternatively, complete the game with a mate, get the infinite ammo for one of the guns (like the first pistol) and let her go crazy with that. I've found the AI to be reasonably decent for the most part. Sure she sometimes stands right behind me and shoots me (thankfully it doesn't hurt), but she does a reasonable job of staying out of trouble, taking a few zombies down and helping me out when I get caught (well, sometimes).

value tart Mar 18, 2009 07:43 PM

She seems to do a lot better with a machine gun than she does with the handgun. She knows to just do short bursts of fire, and it doesn't feel like she blows through ammo nearly as badly. She feels more helpful overall, too.

Syndrome Mar 19, 2009 01:36 PM

I'm having a hard time deciding about weaponry for Sheeva. Cash feels pretty limited, and all I've given her so far is the M92 (I'm letting her take all handgun bullets while I go shotgun/mp5). I've upgraded everything excep reload speed to max, and I'm starting to think about giving her another weapon instead of wasting money on upgrading a shitty gun?

By the way,
Possible spoiler about handgun:

I wanted to try upgrading her gun to the Samurai Edge, I upgraded everything except reload speed to max, but I can't upgrade it anymore right now it says. Is it even worth going for the Samurai Edge?

Jessykins Mar 19, 2009 03:03 PM

I'd say no. The M39R isn't that spectacular unless you have, of course, nothing else. For a first infinite ammo gun, sure, but it costs 20,000 upgrade points. Something far better used getting infinite on a magnum or something.

Nearview the sword swallower Mar 19, 2009 03:18 PM

Theres no doubt that the AI is an awesome shot in this game, but for the most part all it does is piss me off. I was fighting wesker yesterday and she kept standing in the damn hallway getting seen when I was trying to hide.

I hope she gets run over by cancer the next time she crosses the street!

Oh on a second note. I hope Garr also gets run over by cancer

Timberwolf8889 Mar 20, 2009 06:55 PM

I just got the game today and have been playing it co-op with Sian, been a really good time so far. Took a while to get used to not just fucking off and doing our own thing, but once we did it started getting fun. It's aiming to be a pretty short game though =(

OmagnusPrime Mar 20, 2009 07:42 PM

I <3 the infinite rocket launcher so very much. Just saying.

Shenlon Mar 20, 2009 08:14 PM

ScarletDeath has pretty much plowed through the game a few times and is helping out with it. I've pretty much been his support the entire time since he knows what he's doing but its a breathe of fresh air to have another human character to play with. It really brings back memories of the olden games with all the co-op fun in the retro games.
Plus he taught me a trick to duplicate items which is nice.

Dark Nation Mar 20, 2009 08:17 PM

Hey guys, just picked up RE5. Anyone care to Co-op with me this weekend? :)

Inhert Mar 21, 2009 01:59 AM

hey got this too today on ps3 and played a good 3h with my friend in offline co-op and this game is just amazing! So much better in co-op!

btw after my firend was gone I decided to join an online game from the start to see how's the online and I saw that I add all the items from my previoust game in my inventory. This is great but can the other player pick things from my vault or are they separated? Because I wouldn't want to join a game and see the other playes just picking all my things from my inventory...

Your inventories are completely separate, but you can trade things such as herbs, grenades, ammo, etc. They aren't allowed to just take them, you have the option to give the item you have selected to the other player. I think the only things you can't trade are your weapons, everything else is pretty much fair game.

Oooh, what's the trick? Not that I'd need such a cheap trick >_>...

Co-op has been really intense a lot because of ammo management. Most of the times we're yelling at each other it's because one of us has fucked off and the other time is ammo. One thing that's frustrating to me is for the weapon types we share there's no way to give a certain amount of ammo to someone. When ammo is tight and I have a full box of handgun ammo I'd rather give 25 of my ammo to my partner so I don't have to find her again when I need to reload. Makes you dependent on them though, which could be considered a good thing I suppose.

DarthSavior Mar 21, 2009 06:04 AM

Okay, I've looked at the leaderboards for Chapter 1 on the PS3 version... How the fuck are people getting times of ~11 min. for all of Chapter 1? The best I can do on 1-1 alone is ~12 min. Is there some way to make the helicopter arrive faster or something?

Give whatever item you want to duplicate to Sheva and plug in a second controller that is signed in on another profile. Press start to go into split screen, then have Sheva give the item(s) back to Chris and quit the game. When it asks you to save, hit yes on P1's controller, but no on P2's. When you load up another level, Sheva will still have the item, but so will Chris. It's time-consuming and cheap as hell, but it's a fast, easy way to get money for upgrading weapons.

You can load Sheva up with Rotten Eggs, which sell for 2,000 a pop, and make 45,000 each time you do it. I did that up to 999 Rotten Eggs, sold it all for a cool 1,990,000, bought and upgraded all my weapons, and I still had over 1,000,000.

Shenlon Mar 21, 2009 07:29 AM

well since were were pretty much playing via online, he gave me around 200 of his rotten eggs, tons of ammo, and a bunch of first aids. Needless to say it was tedious and took a bit of time. He quit via XMB (holding the PS button and quiting game) so that his game wouldn't get saved. Then I just entered the game and saved my inventory.
To be honest I didn't realize what he was doing until he told me, I thought he was just going to give me a few items since it was my first playthrough. Which is I refused to sell anything I haven't gotten on my own in order to keep some fairness and wont ruin the game for me. Atleast until the second run.

Shenlon Mar 22, 2009 08:36 AM

well I just beat the game last night thanks for Scarlet but we accidentally found some glitches while playing online.

Spoiler:
The fight with jill, i got the heart trophy even before I ripped the heart out and i got it while she was laying down. I was told she had to be standing up but maybe thats norm.

Also we were having connection issues. So we were at the final boss fight, I was chris, so I went to punch the crap out of the rock while Scarlet shot 30 rockets at him to keep him from attacking me. Then when the rock went down, we got disconnected.
We tried again, same as before, I went to the rock, Scarlet shot one rocket at him and BAM! Dead.
We skipped the entire boss fight with him and I just got to see him drowning in lava somehow.

Oh and about the ending. Clearly capcom was going more for the co-op experience than anything else because the ending was very corny

EDIT: oops sorry bout the double

Does anyone know if you can sign in someone else's profile on the second controller on the PS3?
