So looks like the Japanese name is 光路郎 or Koujirou.

FatsDomino Jan 17, 2007 04:40 PM

The 7 volumes in length leads me to suspect it's Japanese name is Koujirou which is a really fucking generic name for a manga and doesn't turn up in many search results.

http://www.japan-manga.jp/jsp/details.jsp?HanID=10758

Unfortunately there are no pictures to verify. A pity. But 7 volumes! You never know.

Additional Spam:
Oh excellent, Pyocola! Just as I post you pretty much confirm my suspicion. =DDD

hikarub Jan 18, 2007 12:17 AM

YES!! Thanks, guys! That is exactly the manga I am on about. I do remember someone mentioning to me that it wasn't very long as far as manga volumes go, but 7 volumes? Dang, that's short...

"Koujiro", heh? Must go look around for this, though I guess if you guys can't find one, there probably isn't an English version around anywhere..... :(

One of the first mangas I came across, and though I couldn't read it, I could kind'a get what was going on just through the pictures alone. It seems to be a comedy manga, yet has a few heart-warming stories in there too.

Thanks again, Qwarky, Pyocola and Acer!!

:D

FatsDomino Jan 18, 2007 12:42 AM

Well from the links I gave you, you can buy it all in Chinese or Japanese. Choose your poison. It's unfortunate that it's not in English though since this search and your description have gotten me interested.

I'm glad we could be of some help though. =)

Good day fellow Animespoters,

Have you experienced any problems with skipping or very huge pixels that flood the picture in any of your New Retail anime DVDs so far? The DVD in question is the Geneon Release of Fushigi Yugi DVD # 3, which half of episode 16 is unplayable, and ALL of episode 17 is skippage from hell, even the player freezes – all three DVD players in my house. :3

I think this is the very first time I’ve ever experienced huge problems with a DVD, but I’ve contacted the vendor, Rightstuf, and they are willing to exchange this DVD for the same title, so that’s cool. I’m sure that over the millions of anime DVDs produced, perhaps a very small fraction of them will have some errors – which is a fact of production, or the disc is just not properly finished in the factory, or whatever the case maybe, so I’m not freaked out – yet!

Now, switching the topic over to anime opening themes and ending themes, how does the creation of the OP theme come about? Does the production team or producer, or whomever it may be, contact a currently hip artists to do the OP/ED theme specifically for that anime series, or, does the production team already choose an existing song that is already released on the market and contact the artist/agent/recording studio – or basically who ever has the rights to the distribution of the song to be used for the themes?

Thanks for your responses.

ctu May 16, 2007 09:34 AM

I think it depends on the anime. If it is something popular (say detective conan) then they would use a oiginal song from a popular artists other then that I am not sure.

ps: I don't think this next question needs it own thead so I'll ask here.

Just recently the subbing group i used to go to download detective conan died. I used to always got and watch the newest subbed eps (a conan) so can somebody sagest another subbing group that is working on this series?

CuteChocobo May 16, 2007 09:48 AM

Well the one place that I know that they are still doing Conan sloowly goes by the tag of [DCTP]

Their website is located http://www.kaizoufansubs.net/
#472 is their latest release which is today :)

Quality is very good, and the translation is fairly accurate. Give this one a shot eh ;)

Go to Tokyotosho.com and search for "Detective Conan" and you should get results of various subbers! Hope this helps~

I once heard this quote in an anime or maybe a movie:

"It is not the amount of times we see each other that's important, but how many times we think about each other." (While saying permanent goodbye to a friend)

Now, I forgot where this quote was from. Could it be that it's from Full Metal Alchemist the movie? Any ideas?

EDIT: Oh, don't mind me: It's from Kingdom Hearts 2 (Hayner)

I'm getting back into anime after a 4.5 year "break."

I've already got a massive of list of series' downloading, but I want movies and OVAs as well. What are some good anime movies and OVAs?

map car man words telling me to do things Jun 21, 2007 05:54 AM

Millennium Actress is a must from the movie side, as is the wonderful Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo

I'm not that knowledged on recent OVAs, but Aim for the Top 2! Diebuster is great, just be sure to watch the first Aim for the Top! first, also known as Gunbuster.

FatsDomino Jun 21, 2007 12:27 PM

Gunbuster is amazing and Diebuster is also wonderful. I highly recommend them.

Grievous Jun 21, 2007 05:18 PM

Little question here, even when I am not sure if this forum would be the best place to ask, I hope someone knows.

I want to buy the entire Gankutsuou series (Count of Monte Cristo) on DVD but before going ahead and buy each one of the DVDs, I was wondering if there were like a box-set or collectors edition that contains the entire series in a single pack. That or if someone knew if there are at least plans to release such things in the close future.

I already know there are many website where people sell their own full-series packs, but I prefer to stay with an official one...

Sakabadger Jun 21, 2007 05:56 PM

The Gankutsuou box set (released as an artbox + volume 1) is currently discontinued, so I think you might have a hard time finding it from normal vendors like amazon, rightstuf or deepdiscount DVD. If you really want the box, you can try looking on eBay -- otherwise, you're better off buying each of the discs separately.

Random people (on shady sites) selling the complete series usually hawk bootleg goods, but I suppose you knew that already. ;(

Grievous Jun 22, 2007 02:54 PM

Really? well that's a shame.

Thanks! I guess I beter get started on finding each of the DVDs -_-'

hikarub Jul 22, 2007 06:36 AM

Hey, guys. Something that's been bothering me. I'm sure most of you have heard of Gutsoon! Entertainment and their manga division Raijin Comics. You've probably also heard that they went belly up a few years back and pretty much disappeared.

I was wondering, what happens to all the manga that they had licensed? They were publishing City Hunter, Fist of the North Star, and Fist of the Blue Sky among others...I'm guessing the reason why no one else is publishing the english language editions of these mangas is because the license still holds despite the company going out of business?

Is there no chance that someone else can get these mangas out to english readers? Can't the original (Japanese) publishers do anything to get them back?

Anyone know what's going on here?

KrazyTaco Sep 17, 2007 04:08 PM

What English fansub groups are still out there subbing Gurren Lagann? I know it's licensed now, but the thread in anime discussion is still going on strong and I'm stuck at episode 14 :/

nabhan Sep 18, 2007 08:03 PM

I'm in the same situation as Krazy. Although I haven't gotten up to episode 14 yet, it's only a matter of time :3

I read the post by Merv, but I have no clue what sites are good for raw files and where to get bss-anon sub files.

SuperDK Sep 19, 2007 08:55 PM

For Gurren Lagann subs, I just go to either the IRC channel #BSS at rizon, or I go to their google groups site here. You probably will have to have a gmail account or something, but shouldn't be hard to get that.

As for Raws, I just go to Tokyotosho.

I hope this helps...

edit: the google groups site seems to have .ass files for episodes 16 and up.

Hi everyone!
I'm a little ashamed but.. I'll ask that question. I started watching a show, few months ago. (obviously, an anime). it was, if my memory's right, based on a game. The first episodes went like... some school guys and girls got trapped by some evil book and were sent into an other world... and the guy fights monsters with a sword that he takes out from his girlfriend's heart. But unfortunately... I forgot the title of that anime.. so if it rings a bell to anyone of you... PLEASE! I BEG YOU, tell me :)

P.S. Sorry for my poor english, but i tried!

aku Nov 13, 2007 06:14 PM

If it looked anything like this, and that sounds very much like what i think it is
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ap-4016056.png
This is from "Shining Tears X Wind"

oblivionist Nov 14, 2007 04:11 PM

YES SIR!! THAT'S IT!!! Thanks a lot Aku!

You're pretty good by the way!
My description was a litlle.. blurry and ugly!

hikarub Nov 18, 2007 10:23 AM

Sorry, totally noob Naruto question. Thought I'd ask here since the official thread has been closed......

I don't get this Hokage system.....Naruto's father was the Fourth Hokage and Tsunade is now the Fifth. So which was that old guy from before (who was in charge before Tsunade)? Shouldn't he have been Fifth and Tsunade Sixth? Or am I totally missing something here.....?

Taco Nov 18, 2007 11:11 AM

The old guy was The Third. When Naruto's father became the Fourth, the Third was still alive. But when the Fourth died, the Third stepped back up.

hikarub Nov 19, 2007 10:15 AM

Really? Well, I guess that kind'a makes sense....

Sorry, I was under the impression that there wouldn't be a new Hokage unless the current one died and had to be replaced. So it's not a lifetime post then? Oh I see, so it's something like an elected official, a president or a prime-minister? Got it.

Thanks!

oblivionist Nov 20, 2007 10:10 AM

Yeah something like that, usually the strongest one! But not only strenght is needed. Wisdom, experience, etc.
