@KC
While I agree with your final word of advice there, Nintendo is usually one of the least up-front about their games so you never know. The US and Japan internets are different and require modified netcodes. so they may have run into a roadblock in that department of the NA version.

While there's nothing more then speculation of another delay, I wouldn't brush it totally off at least until Nintendo comments on the rumour.

FatsDomino Jan 10, 2008 08:22 PM

I can only think of one stupid reason why they'd delay the game over here. Not enough copies.

SuperSonic Jan 10, 2008 08:31 PM

Even if that were true, I'm sure that the number of copies made for Brawl outweigh the number of people who actually own a Wii to play it on.

FatsDomino Jan 10, 2008 08:40 PM

What?

@Acer

or in other words, no matter how many copies they make, not enough people own Wii's here

NovaX Jan 10, 2008 09:33 PM

It's ET all over again, expect a massive market crash.

trackjacket Jan 11, 2008 12:10 AM

Except, there's virtually no possibility of Brawl sucking, so!

Slayer X Jan 11, 2008 12:33 AM

It could come out and have the whole 360 & Madden '07 things where random consoles couldn't play the game for no good reason. My 360 was one of thoes.

Update - Friday
Pikmin and Olimar Special Moves

Captain Olimar is among the most specialized characters within the cast of Smash Brothers Brawl.

In order to really unleash Olimar’s full potential, you’ve got to have a good knowledge of his helpful cohorts, the Pikmin!

<Standard Special Move: Pikmin Pluck>
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/chara..._080111a-l.jpg

First uproot a few Pikmin from the ground. You can have up to six Pikmin at one time. As long as there is ground beneath your feet, you can reach down and pull up a Pikmin, but be aware that certain Pikmin are more likely to appear in specific types of flooring.

There are 5 types of Pikmin to use!

- Red Pikmin -
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/chara..._080111b-l.jpg
High attack power
Attacks imbued with incendiary properties
Immune to fire

Pluck, pluck, pluck up Pikmin.

- Yellow Pikmin -
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/chara..._080111c-l.jpg
Range of attack slightly larger than usual;
easy to hit enemies with
Travel in slight arcs when thrown
Attacks imbued with electrical properties

- Blue Pikmin -
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/chara..._080111d-l.jpg
Strong when thrown
Slightly more durable than average

- Purple Pikmin -
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/chara..._080111e-l.jpg
Doesn’t fly far when thrown
Slow
High attack power
Slams into enemies instead of
latching on when thrown

- White Pikmin -
http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/chara..._080111f-l.jpg
Quick and light
When latched onto opponent,
poison does additional damage

You can figure out which Pikmin you will attack with next by looking at the order they are lined up in.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/chara..._080111g-l.jpg

You’ll use a Red Pikmin in your next attack.

In order to perform a Smash Attack, certain midair attacks, and even throws, you’re going to need Pikmin!

Anyhow, just do your best to not kill off your platoon. Olimar doesn’t stand much of a chance by himself.

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/chara..._080111h-l.jpg

Pikmin don’t have graves, you know.

<Side Special Move: Pikmin Throw>

Throw Pikmin that latch on to your opponent!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/chara..._080111i-l.jpg

They’ll cause an enemy’s damage percentage to slowly rise!

<Up Special Move: Pikmin Chain>

If you think you’re about to plunge to your doom, this right here is your best chance for survival.

The recovery distance for this technique is dependent upon the number of Pikmin currently in your troop!

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/chara..._080111j-l.jpg

Just imagine what would’ve happened
if you had had one less Pikmin!

<Down Special Move: Pikmin Order>

Call back Pikmin who have managed to separate from you. You can also use this technique to shift a new Pikmin to the front of the line

http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/chara..._080111k-l.jpg

Tweeet! Line up, everyone!

So there you have it. I bet you’re a little confused by his eccentric play style.

But don’t fret! It’s easier than it looks. Spend some time playing around with him. That’s key.

Whoa, the battlefield sure is crowded today.

SuperSonic Jan 11, 2008 02:17 AM

I'd rather not see another delay. I mean, it's less than a month away now...the other delay was about less than 2 months from the release date. Sure I want the game to be fixed and working *cough* MGS4 *cough*, but the music alone is making me want to play this game.

You guys think they'll come out with a soundtrack?

Chaotic Jan 11, 2008 02:23 AM

The main page update is slow. :|

I had no idea where you got that info until I checked out Olimar myself... The guy seems like a really complicated Peach, but a lot less useful than Peach since Peach has other specials to back herself up.

Zeta26 Jan 11, 2008 02:23 AM

If there's a soundtrack, then we'd be seeing the songs spread over 2+ discs. Like around 3-4 at the least.

Yeah, I even had problems with it as well. Which it gave me this annoying "Page cannot be displayed" crap.

Chaotic Jan 11, 2008 02:25 AM

They better have an official release soundtrack instead of what they did for Melee and Smashing Live! There's too much good music on here for it to just denote a game rip.

Buizel Jan 11, 2008 03:27 AM

Oh silly people. You know the only soundtracks Nintendo release are Mario games via Club Nintendo and the Pokemon handheld games!

:(

Probably because we were all the ones on there hitting F5 nonstop like we're bidding on some EBAY auction

FatsDomino Jan 11, 2008 05:57 AM

I kind of expected today to be Olimar's Special Moves so it would have been nice to get a double update with some music or something.

I wonder what his standard attack moves will be like. More likely than not he'll be grabbing Pikmin and swinging them around instead of throwing or something. The Pikmin chain looks hilarious. =)

Megalith Jan 11, 2008 06:53 AM

Just ordered a copy for $20. This is the first Wii game I've bought, and I've had the system for over a year.

Sakabadger Jan 11, 2008 07:09 AM

Where did you find a copy for $20?

The biggest deal I've seen so far is Circuit City giving a $10 giftcard for pre-orders or something like that.

EDIT: Nevermind, I see Walmart has listed SSBB online for $20 for some unknown reason. Hope they'll honor this price as it's probably a glitch, but whatever.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Wii - Wal-Mart

Buizel Jan 11, 2008 09:18 AM

Wow. $20?! I'm placing my order right now.

I wanted to hold off pre-ordering because I wanted to order it from buy.com and do that $10 off from google checkout. */cheap bastard*

EDIT: Blah. Forgot that ordering from Wal-Mart charge tax but with such a low price it's worth it. XD

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Jan 11, 2008 09:59 AM

I'm not even going to bother with that preorder, just because there's no chance in hell Wal-Mart will honor that. They'll simply send out emails telling preorderers that it was a glitch and that they have the option of paying the real price or receiving a full refund.

You know, I've never played Pikmin, but Captain Olimar is quickly becoming one of the more interesting newcomers. Aside from Ike, I'd say I'm most excited to try him out. Sounds like he might be more trouble than he's worth in some stages though, should you be stuck in an area that doesn't let your preferred Pikmin pop up as often as you'd like.

Sacred X Jan 11, 2008 11:01 AM

It seems he's useless withoout his Pikmin. That combined with the fact that his Pikmin can wander off seem to make him a pretty complex one to use. I wish I can understand the intensity of his attacks, otherwise he might be considered a "Dan" or Melee "Ice Climbers". Which probably means I'll use him even more, but he's still strangely interesting.

EDIT: Also I'm completely oblivious to this, but would they delay us even if the Japan release isn't delayed?

*100th post*

Slayer X Jan 11, 2008 11:03 AM

If it's a localization thing like translation or network then yes. If it were anything deeper, both versions would have to be delayed.

FatsDomino Jan 11, 2008 12:00 PM

I find that 20 dollar Walmart thing hilarious.

Buizel Jan 11, 2008 02:16 PM

Hey! It was worth a try! lol

Oh well... Google Checkout, here I come! XD

FatsDomino Jan 11, 2008 02:31 PM

I just hope that any of you guys who bought into this mistake and care about getting the game on day one are able to cancel and do so.
