I guess I was trying tosee if they would loosely enforce the rules. It was that it was 'a tag match' and the 'person who gets the pinfall is world champ'. It didn't say who could pin who which is why I thought it would have been neat to add a new twist to the ending.

Actually, I thought travelling would be a bit better now. For headliners, no more having to go to house shows for Raw, Smackdown!, etc. Instead, only your brand's house shows.

Maybe the brand split would work if a.) they had interbrand feuds and b.) that weren't forgotton suddenly when big multi-brand PPV's like survivor series comes up.

If they went back to how it was before. 1 champion of each kind of title, and they would be the ones that went on all the shows, it may not be bad.

Although I'm really digging tonight the cross-brand peoples on Raw.

SuperSonic Nov 12, 2007 10:43 PM

ROFL at the Hornswaggle training session. That was great! I'm with you dagget, it's nice to see these cross-brand matches.

Slash Nov 12, 2007 10:59 PM

I thought it was funny when Morgan came out and was like "Oh WHAT? Did I stu-stu-stutter?" right in Cages face.

And AJ Styles is actually an amazing in-ring performer. Check out the AJ Styles v. Christopher Daniels v. Samoa Joe match.

Winter Storm Nov 12, 2007 11:10 PM

Well looks like it's official as if it was'nt obvious enough. Y2J is coming next monday.

dagget Nov 13, 2007 12:50 AM

ZOMG! Don't say it too loud Winter, Stephanie might see it and blow one of her breasts out being angry his DEBUT DATE WAS LEAKED! lawl.

I bet Raw gets a pretty shitty rating this week, it was ok... just not the greatest. I hated how the main event was changed from Triple H vs Mr. Kennedy, to Triple H vs Umaga. I was really looking forward to seeing Kennedy and Trips go at it.

Winter Storm Nov 13, 2007 11:38 AM

lol

The inter-promotional matchs are an obvious sign of experimenting. Anyone thinks Survivor Series might be Shawns last PPV? I can see three things happening:

1. He wins by the Sharpshooter.
2. He loses to the sharpshooter(i.e. Orton using it, hey it could happen)
3. Orton goes into Morton Anderson mode and kicks Shawns' head off for a 3-point field goal.

And the traditional tag team elimination is a given. Umaga is going to solo the whole other team and win.

mortis Nov 13, 2007 09:37 PM

dagget: Haha, that was my first reaction when the cover page of the newest WWE magazine was posted online. I can see it now, "From now all, all magazine writer's, photographers, editors, and everyone else associated with our magazine must sign new contracts where none of their ideas, pictures, etc were written, taken, etc by them!" followed by in unison, "We're done. We are leaving.". I do wonder what would happen if, after Steph blew up at them, what they would do if ALL the [script] writers just up and left at once. Be awesome to do say, right before a big PPV (hint hint).

And Raw's rating did from from 3.8 to 3.5. Ouch.

The HBK-Orton match is really a toss up. I can't forsee HBK walking out with the gold totally because it would crush Orton's build-up (although not like that hasn't happened before...) as champ. However, it IS the ten year anniversary of Montreal and the five year anniversary since HBK's last world title win. Maybe he'll win it, via Sharpshooter, but lose it soon after back to Orton. I could also forsee something like the old dusty finish. Ref goes down. Superkick. Other move. Pin. Ref recovers. HBK wins. McMahon reverses decision. People pissed. And we go back to the 1980's...

Erisu Kimu Nov 14, 2007 01:02 AM

I see a predictability pattern with HBK as I do with the whole 'guy who wins the match before PPV title match is most likely the one to lose' booking. Unfortunately, for HBK, there's always the tension, but never the surprising results. It's like whenever someone is newly crowned as the World/WWE Champion, HBK is always there as #1 contender at a bad spot (usually the first challenger to the title of the new Champion). I don't see HBK winning the World title anytime soon or ever again. I think this time, Randy Orton will have a legitimate title run.

Winter Storm Nov 14, 2007 09:02 AM

lol, I hope Cena realizes that while it maybe true that he's clean, CNN is doing a great job portraying him as a user. He's playing right into thier little game.

As for HBK, ever since the screw job, he's been a "cursed champion".

Para Nov 14, 2007 11:33 AM

I enjoyed the recent cross brand matches and I didn't see them as of anything negative. They weren't huge positives but something to make the show a bit more interesting. Would be even better if there were cross brand feuds.

God I would love to see that.

SuperSonic Nov 14, 2007 07:01 PM

I doubt it would happen in that match, especially since Big Daddy V is supposed to be so unstoppable. Now Beth Phoenix going solo and winning it...THAT I could see happening.

Slash Nov 14, 2007 07:08 PM

Yeah but I could see them making visc look like crap by having mysterio pinning him

Crash "Long-Winded Wrong Answer" Landon Nov 14, 2007 07:10 PM

Unlikely given the push Vis has been receiving lately.

Slash Nov 14, 2007 07:16 PM

yeah...but look at the way WWE pushes people.

PUSH PUSH PUSH PUSH...O WAIT? Who R U?

mortis Nov 15, 2007 05:17 AM

So, prediction time:

Diva's Match: Beth Phoenix is on a roll. I think she will basically decimate the other team.

Khali/Horns - No way Horns is going over Khali by pinfall or submission. No way Horns is going to take any move from Khali (as that will finish the match). Expect a lot of comedy, and with a count out finish at the end (perhaps some marbles on the floor that Khali slips on to help Horns win).

Trips & Company Vs Umaga & Company - Trips lost the title last month and has done only so well since that time. Except Big Daddy V to get DQ'd, MVP to get pinned by Matt, and Kennedy to pin Jeff en route to Trips winning with a pinfall over Umaga.

Triple Threat ECW match - It looks like Morrison and Miz are starting a mini-feud on their own. Well...

Spoiler:

MIz and Morrison won the tag team titles together making that odd-couple team storyline that Hardy/MVP had. I don't forsee either of them winning the gold. Seems unlikely either will become a double champion. Also, with the Smackdown!/ECW brand exchange, Punk now has a slew of new challengers.

Punk retains.

Batista/Undertaker - So the rubber match more or less. Taker beat Batista at Mania, they drew twice, and then Batista won last month. This is the hardest one to call because it would be unlikely that Taker would lose twice, clean in the ring. Furthermore, Takre was originally suppose to retain his title in this match before his injury. While I would love to see Taker gaining the gold one more time (amazingly 16 years since he first won it), I see Batista retaining. ANd then turning heel short after.

HBK/Orton - Everyone is thinking of the Montreal finish playing some sort of role here. Well, I agree that a well-known, old finish will come into play. However, it will be the old DUSTY FINISH. I forsee Orton knocking the ref out, going for an RKO, Michael's countering, instictively hitting the superkick, and eventually getting the pinfall before Vince comes down and says Michaels was DQ'd for using the Superkick. Yes, a lousy ending, but one that would allow HBK to continue his feud with Orton another few months, while allowing Trips to finish his feud with Umaga/Vince and move onto his feud (after Orton beats HBK at the RR) for Mania.

Oh they push people. Push people into being jobbers. And thats all WWE really is, a jobber fest. You know who's going to win/lose, who wont get shots etc etc.

Slash Nov 15, 2007 08:12 PM

I mean look at Val's push...(then again he was injured)

But look at Kennedy...obviously for shit that was done...10 months ago wwe feels they should fuck over big stars.

Why do ya think booker left

Winter Storm Nov 15, 2007 11:26 PM

Spoiler:
Kaz didn't win, but it was a hell of a match. The third partner that'll be with Hall and Nash is Samoa Joe.

What I thought was the highlight of tonight was that lady telling Robert Roode where he can shove it. And she attacked his "#1 fan"(this woman must like men who play rough).

Booker T is now an official TNA wrestler, along with his do-...er wife Sharmell. I like his new theme song. It's remixed a bit. During this signing, Christian comes out to run his mouth. This is where I see TNA could become WWENA. It seems these two are going to pick up where they last left off before Christian left.

mortis Nov 16, 2007 03:06 AM

SLash: Or how about RVD? Eesh, poor guy got punished for months and months and months. I was half-surprised he won against Orton (although Orton then put him out after the match).

Storm:

Spoiler:

YOu noticed that too? But then again, it's getting harder because so many WWE stars are going over to TNA. If Booker didn't face CHristian, then the next likely choice would be Angle-also a past WWE star.

Winter Storm Nov 16, 2007 06:19 AM

I've noticed it and then some.. Its like getting divorced from a bad marriage and bringing all the dirty laundry from that bad marriage into a new one.

SuperSonic Nov 16, 2007 02:24 PM

Predictions:

Diva's Match: Beth Phoenix will destroy her opponents, and then destroy her own team.

Khali/Hornswaggle - Hornswaggle will win this match and thus the tag team of Khali and Hornswaggle will begin.

Triple H Team Vs Umaga Team - Triple H's team will win with HHH being the sole survivor.

Triple Threat ECW match - I was gonna go with Miz but after reading that spoiler, Punk will retain.

Batista/Undertaker - Undertaker will win it by pinfall and win the title back. It's either that, or a draw.

HBK/Orton - HBK will win it using a submission hold, probably the sharpshooter. There will not be a screwjob on this night.

Golfdish from Hell Nov 16, 2007 06:36 PM

Wow, last night's TNA show was really well-put together. Great (and hilarious) skit with Team 3D and the X-Division, Kaz vs Angle was money and had a great build-up (where did Kaz come from? He looked amazing out there), Booker T debuting and having a spat with Christian (translation: good feud between two guys who can give great matches and great promos), Hall and Nash collaborating like old times (with a surprise at the end...See below) and solid action all-around from everyone else involved. One of the best shows I've seen in years from any company. Also, Christy/Jackie > All WWE divas, save for Victoria. I highly recommend catching the replay tomorrow if anyone missed it.

Spoiler:
Their mystery partner is Samoa Joe to take on Angle, AJ and Tomko

rockthepartay Nov 18, 2007 11:11 PM

So, I heard that HBK used the crippler crossface during his match with Orton, which is fucking hilarious. I wonder if anyone knew that he was going to do that.

Really looking forward to the return of Y2J.

Erisu Kimu Nov 18, 2007 11:20 PM

Spoiler:
Apparently, the new on-going trend in WWE seems to now be "Every Champion retains at the PPV." HBK lost, which is no surprise to me. The others all successfully defended their titles.

I too cannot wait for Y2J to return to the WWE. His charisma is missed.

mortis Nov 19, 2007 10:44 AM

So...4/6 right. 5/7 if I had remembered to post my pick of Cade/Murdoch after they announced the match.

A few thoughts...

As predicted, HBK lost to Orton. My pick was confirmed all that much more when I heard that HBK won't be doing house shows anymore. Kinda a shame, as that is a sign of HBk finally going through his last hurrah, but at the same time Undertaker did that...then went back to full time to win the title (and get injured). I highly doubt HBK will go another month with Orton, so I am wondering who he will feud with next (I am looking at Kennedy since Kennedy was suddenly thrown out of his match with Trips).

I had a feeling Edge would interfere in the Taker/Batista match. My guess is either 1) Edge will face Batista next month for the title that he 'never lost' in which Taker will interfere and cost Edge the match (setting up a match for Mania, Streak Vs 'Streak'), or 2) Taker will interfere in said match, but accidently cost Batista the title. Batista will turn heel, and he and Taker will feud with each other with a match at NWO where Taker will finally beat Batista one more time to even the score and get a title shot against Edge (whom Taker will beat and then get that one last, long reign that he was suppose to have a year prior).

Why was the ECW title match the FIRST match on the card? Okay guys, yes, it is the 'weaker' title, but you all don't need to put the match at the BOTTOM of the card to remind us. SURELY a WORLD title match for one of your brands with an angle built up for weeks can be placed higher on the card than the TAG TEAM MATCH that was thrown together days earlier... Oh, and I am expecting some sort of Smackdown! star to beat Punk soon as no one is left in ECW. If Matt Hardy beats MVP for the US title, then expect MVP to beat Punk.

Speaking of Hardy/MVP, I must say this is a wonderful little feud that has been built up well. It has gone on for months, and things have been kept fairly entertaining. No rush jobs here. I expect that at next month's PPV for Matt to get the title from MVP, and then for a brief title the brothers holding the secondary titles on Raw and Smackdown!. MVP will then get the ECW title.

And while on the topic of that match. WHoa. Continuity. They actually ACKNOWLEDGED past angles. Wow, a rare case where they don't pretend we have an attention span ranging from 2 weeks to 1 year on angles. How about that? Of course, I am speaking of Trips talks with Kane and Jeff Hardy. Speaking of Trips, no surprise with what happened to him although I don't know where he can go from here...

Part of me likes how James is pushed in the woman's tag match. Part of me though thinks they should seriously have their woman's champion dominant the match en route to a feud with the returning Candice. Also...I swear it was an elimination match...would have been good to showcase the champ with just such a match.

So Finley saved Horns. I guess Finley is making a face turn. The thing is though...just WHERE will this lead him? I was hoping they would break them off because neither can really benefit anymore and I felt Horns could just beat Khali by count out due to some prank. Oh well...MAYBE it will work out (doubtful though).

And of course Holly's short-lived face turn may be ending soon. Maybe. He seems to have relatively short face turns (his last one was only a few weeks in ECW) but that seems to be the nature of his character. I wouldn't be surprised to see Rhodes and him win the straps very soon though, as it seems foolish to just have them feud, instantly team, then instantly feud again. Better to build that angle up...
