Made it to Raithwall's Tomb this morning (what a name, it's just asking for creepy shit to come and kill you). I was so, so, so, so tired...I just wanted to beat the bosses as fast as possible and LEAVE so I could sleep. So I was extremely cheap and I Mist'd them both to death in one move, then I ran back out, saved, and slept. And then I dreamt that a demon wall ate me :(

Oh yeah, and for some reason I felt really, really sad about
Spoiler:
the Urutan-Yensa that was dust'd by the creepy Queen, and the poor moogle was crying, awwww :(

Freelance Nov 7, 2006 10:58 PM

The Queen looked like an alien to me :D

You'd think those Tusken Raiders, er, little sand people, would be thankful that I killed their enemy. Oh well. Can't say that moogle was crying though. Sad , yes. Crying, no.

P.S. I saw Belias' -limit break-. It was wicked cool. The manual says they use it after 'certain conditions are met.' What exactly are these conditions?

Sousuke Nov 7, 2006 11:21 PM

Not exactly sure what those 'conditions' are, but every time I've summoned an Esper, [with the exception of the one time I summoned Adrammalech] they've used their 'limit break' like attack. If you thought Belias was good, wait till you see Mateus. Looks amazing. :D

Elrasiel Nov 7, 2006 11:52 PM

btw. am I'm the only one who plays the game in widescreen? And I hope that I will soon get some new teammember. Penelo just left me and now I have to fight solo again...

I dunno. It wiped its eyes several timesduring the scene and when I talked to it after so I assumed it was crying even if there were no visible tears. Either way, it was still sad.

Anyway, I bought that Grimoire thing from the bazaar and I have no idea if it's actually doing what it says it should. either way I saved over the wrong slot so if it's useless then I'm out of a lot of money. But I guess it's all right, I'll just sell stuff. I just got Penelo for the pirate den thing, too. I think I've only unlocked 7 of them, sneh.

Vash Nov 8, 2006 12:19 AM

I'm at the Draklor Laboratory in Archades trying to unlock the lift to the top floor...having trouble doing that, help would be appreciated :)

On a side note, Archades is very Star Wars-ish...in a good way :D

My main party is Vaan, Balthier, and Ashe (all of whom are level 45, everyone else is level 10 and 11 lol). Just curious, do I still have a long way to go in the game? Because I'm getting the sense that I'm reaching the climax...hope it's not a short game :(

P.S.~Anyone have the CG renders for the individual Judges, Vossler, Rasler, and Reks? Or just as many of those as you have? I want to use them for my sigs/wallpapers in Photoshop.

Elrasiel Nov 8, 2006 12:37 AM

Yeah what is the Grimoire actually godd for? I mean it's damn expensive...if it's like an actual grimoire-book that means that you should be able ot get some good and strong spells.

Spatula Nov 8, 2006 02:17 AM

I got the Grimoire forgotten book, and at first I thought I just wasted 18,000 hard earned gil for nothing, but this is what I found out - it decreases the amount of battle chaining you have to do to get the good stuff. I compared this with my Skeleton run vs my "Sandman" run in the Sandsea area. For me to get to level 3 battle chain, it took about a 50 continuous enemy kills to get the gold awards, however, with the Grimoire book, this is reduced to you only needing to get 30. So the first level is when you kill 10 of the same type of enemy in a row - you get the silver colored loot, the second is when you kill 20 of the same enemy in a row, you get the small gold loot, and the third set is for 30 enemies - you get the BIG gold loot, which can have positive effects, such as heal your party for anywhere from 5 to 150 HP, as well as cast protect and shell on your party. I can't wait to see what the other good stuff look like!

kupomog Nov 8, 2006 02:31 AM

Ooh, sweet. That's awesome then...that big loot netted me lots of money in the end and the protect/shell it cast was very helpful. I should go on a skeleton run, soon. Or..actually, I think I can probably try it out with the Urutan-Yensa in the sandsea. That'll be pretty awesome. I notice that I get more Rainbow Eggs out of Axebeaks but I dunno if that's actually an effect of the hunter book. Either way, it's nice to have all those eggs to sell!

That's basically one of the best spots right now for a good EXP run. Those guys are MUCH easier than the skeletons, and they are funnier too, not like the creepy undead. They give about 83 EXP and 1 LP each. You can find tons of them, so there's never the issue of running out. Just camp around the save stone and work your way around the platforms. That's what I've been doing for the last few hours.

Everyone in my team now has the +500 HP thanks to them being so easy. I'm thinking of sticking around here until I clean up all the main augmentatios I want for my team until I move onto the next stage. You can easily get 100+ chain with these guys, it's not even funny. Just don't touch the save stone and don't go to those platforms with the Aldurians (small tomato like things) and you should be fine.

Elrasiel Nov 8, 2006 02:57 AM

Do those lots heal and protect the group by itself or do you have to cast it first?

soapy Nov 8, 2006 03:17 AM

I found that stealing from skeletons yield a lot of cash when you sell off bones.

I'm at about level 27, which is the best place to "farm" at this point? I'm sticking around the snowy area because there are skeletons, but it's kind of hard to chain, and the elementals get in the way.

Is it just me or does the Eruyt Village theme sound a lot like something from Chrono Cross?

If you're referring to the big gold loot once you get to the level 3 battle chain, then there's a chance that the heal and protect will automatically be casted on your party, which is nice. All you have to do is keep killing and collecting the loot until you get to the big gold loots.

Note to self: Never again wander into the Necrohol of Nabudis. D:

That place is NASTY. I was just exploring, yet again. Basically just wanted to grab my Zodiac Spear... But DAMN, that trek is way longer than I thought it was. Maybe I just went the wrong way or something. I'm glad I bought 60 Phoenix Downs, in any case.

TheXeno Nov 8, 2006 06:53 PM

Are there any requirements on getting the Zodiac Spear?

There are four treasure chests in the game that you can't open or else the Zodiac Spear disappears from its chest in the Necrohol.

Sousuke Nov 8, 2006 07:04 PM

It's hidden pretty deep in the Necrohol, so getting through the zone is one requirement. XD Though if you keep ONLY one character on-screen at a time, you lessen your chances of getting a game over quite as fast.

Other than that, there's certain Treasures through the game that you have to NOT open, otherwise the Zodiac Spear won't be there. They are:

Spoiler:
1. At the southern end of Rabanastre Lowtown, the chest that sits in front of Old Dalan's house.
2. In the Rabanastre Palace Cellar, do not open the treasure chest(s) that sit in the southeast corner of the map. There are either one or two chests that may appear there. Do not open anything in either case.
3. In the Nalbina Dungeons, do not open any of the treasure chests that appear in the room where you get the map for the area and regain your equipment.
4. At the eastern-most section of the Phon Coast (Vaddu Strand), do not open any of the 16 chests that are there. [Though if you do what I did and go to the Necrohol early, you don't have to worry about this one.]

Spatula Nov 8, 2006 07:22 PM

So how awesome is this Zodiak spear? I'd check it up but I'm at school now, so therefore I don't have the guide book. Spoiler tags where necessary, thank you!

lordo Nov 8, 2006 07:31 PM

Well I can't get the spear now ;(

Oh well, can't win em all ;)

Though I hate stuff like that, I mean how are supposed to know not to open the chests?

rpgcrazied Nov 8, 2006 08:07 PM

you should automaticly be able to go to your liscenece board and choose it for anyone. Just look around the board, i think around the right edge.

Freelance Nov 8, 2006 09:21 PM

Damn!!!

I went further ahead to the Hennes Mines today and ugh!!!! There are some hard sections in there, mainly the swarms of bats and jellies that cluster in several locations. I actually had to make a run for it at the second jelly swarm.

And then I had to fight the boss,
Spoiler:
Tiamat, Damn, she's HARD! I actually got her into the red zone when I ran out of hi-potions and phoenix downs and watched my team fall one by one. Gah...thank god there's a teleport stone right before her, so I can stock up on the stuff before facing her again.

Those T-Rexes remind me of the T-Rexaurs in FFVIII so much.

jb1234 Nov 8, 2006 09:40 PM

If you had troubles with that boss, good luck with the next one. :o
