Also, good luck trying to do that with a wheel. If your arms are not completely parallel to the ground, you'll end up hopping into a drift, ramming into a wall and destroying your ranking along with your self-esteem.

Identity Crisis May 7, 2008 01:56 PM

Oh hay internet! I added myself to the GFWiki, but here's my friend code for the lazy:

3609-1726-6516

I added everybody who was already listed. I must say that I LOVE the retro track selection, especially the Ghost Valley and Waluigi Stadium tracks.

Sacred X May 7, 2008 03:40 PM

I'll add you right now, Crisis.

I'm also still awaiting confirmation from:
Grawl
Infernal Monkey
Chaotic
Sakabadger

Also if anyone added me but hasn't received confirmation, just make a note of it and I'll check it out.

Tails May 7, 2008 05:43 PM

Alert the internet. Ronz and I are hopping on for a bit. Join in!

Sakabadger May 7, 2008 05:45 PM

@Sacred X and whoever else: Really kind of busy this week with some projects, but I'll try to get everyone else added by the end of the weekend so you aren't faced with a permanent "?" on your FC list.

Freelance May 7, 2008 08:02 PM

I got my Friend Code!! It's 3866 8712 1330!

I played online with random people in my region and wound up in 7th place. Not bad for someone who hasn't played yet, eh? XD

So I guess you can't make make up a name for your online profile? You have to use whatever the name of the Mii you chose is? I chose Link when I connected just to test out multiplayer but I don't want to choose him permanently.

I noticed that in 2 matches I would suddenly get 'disconnected from the other players.' Is that the result of my pressing a button I shouldn't, or is it a problem with the online?

I'll be playing this weekend! I'll add everyone at that time too.

P.S. I played on a track called...Moonview Highway...it was pretty darn cool! I was about to go into a city when I got disconnected :(

Kairyu May 7, 2008 08:28 PM

Holy crap, Icy and Mr.MonkeyMan are bullies in Mario Kart :tpg:.
I lost count the amount of times I was ran over or pushed off a cliff in a neck-to-neck race! Still, I had a great time. Looking forward to the next race!

Bah, you posted your FC as I finished playing Mario Kart Wii! I'll add you later tonight then.

You got disconnected that many times? Ouch, not sure what to say to that. I only got disconnected once out of who knows how many matches. Then again I'm also on a wired connection. Assuming you're using a wireless connection, have you tried switching channels in your router?

Freelance May 7, 2008 08:30 PM

I assumed that whatever worked for Brawl would work with MK too. What channel would you recommend I switch to?

Sakabadger May 7, 2008 08:34 PM

For Wii, it's generally channel 1 or 11.

Kairyu May 7, 2008 08:44 PM

Yeah, normally I just go from one end of the spectrum to the other if I'm getting connection issues like that. It's possible someone's wavebird controller or wireless phone is interfering with your connection.

I can't help it if Wario's larger than life! :tpg:

However, you weren't kidding when you were bragging about your skills though! Seriously, there were quite a few races where I couldn't even catch up to you because you were so far ahead. However, that's not going to stop me from challenging you in future games! I love a good challenge.

There was a particularly close race between you, nutty, MrMonkeyMan, some random guy on WiFi, and me on Coconut Mall though. There were Bullet Bills, Stars, and Giant Mushrooms everywhere! Places were exchanged instantaneously!

Good games to everyone I faced today.

Sacred X May 7, 2008 09:02 PM

I was also surprized at how well you were doing so quickly. You seemed to get in first in nearly every match, or at least do really well. I usually wondered why you were catching up so fast when we were both the same character, but then I realized you were usinga different bike than me, since I still use the standard bike.

I should be on tomorrow around after 9pm, so hopefully I can join a race with some of you guys again.

Oh, god. I remember that race. I thought I was getting last place until the final lap CARNAGE got started. This is why Mario Kart is awesome =D

Freelance May 7, 2008 10:19 PM

Okay I was using channel 11 before so I changed it to 1. Hope that works. I can't wait 'til the weekend so I can play with all of you, and I still got Okami to try out too. So much fun!

Rollins May 8, 2008 06:44 PM

Finally back home with my Wii and of course, I grabbed a copy of Mario Kart Wii. Please add, I will do the responsible thing and add/PM peoples on the board.

Freelance May 8, 2008 07:38 PM

Well this sucks. I changed my router channel to 1 and tested the online today and it's even worse than before! I can't even start a match now without that 'you have been disconnected from the other players' popping up in my face. Seems to me that SSBB is more stable than MK from what I'm experiencing so far. I guess I'll switch it back to channel 11. At least I could actually play some matches.

By the way, if anyone has already added my friend code, please delete it from your roster. I don't want to use a non-original Mii for my online avatar. All the random people I see all have original ones, and I didn't know (at that time) that you couldn't change your name or anything. I'll have to make a new Mii and get a new FC.

Thank you.

Sakabadger May 8, 2008 11:26 PM

AFAIK you can simply edit the Mii on your existing license. When I first started, I used my (meaning my real name and all that) Mii on the license. Decided I'd rather have a net-friendly Mii name show up, so I simply changed the Mii I was using in the license setting.

It's pretty dumb you can't just edit the name on your license, especially given how Nintendo is all WATCH OUT FOR ONLINE SECURITY. But still, you shouldn't need to do anything as drastic as recreating the whole thing.

Freelance May 9, 2008 05:45 AM

I didn't see any option to edit the Mii, at least not at the places I checked! Where do I go to do so? Yeah that would be more preferable to deleting everything altogether.

After you select your license, go to the top-right hand corner that says "License Setting" (I think that's what it called) and there you can change your Mii.

I think people already know this but you can always change your Mii name in the Mii Channel (except for Mii that isn't originally yours). Still I find it stupid for Nintendo to say don't give out your Last Name, Address, Phone Number, Birthdate, SSN, etc especially when the game HAVE NO USER INPUT TYPE- OR VOICE-CHAT. They must have lawyers writing the instruction booklet these days.

Oh, I added everybody FC that posted or PMed so my Friend List is full (only 30 per license! lame).

Chaotic May 9, 2008 12:17 PM

Hay, it's the weekend, who's gonna be on?

I'll probably be on around 10 PM EST tonight, just so I have a reason to get my lazy ass up and play a different game. ;_;

Rollins May 9, 2008 12:47 PM

Should be on for some Mario Kart goodness on and off tonight. Still trying to unlock everything, but at least my Baby Mario/Bullet Bike combo is ready to go from the beginning.

Sacred X May 9, 2008 12:54 PM

I still have two 100cc cups to go and all 150cc cups. I'm probably going to aim for getting at least a star in all cups since I seem to have a ton of stars and double stars, though I remember in other games 150cc being annoyingly difficult. Hopefully I can pull it off.

EDIT: I recently made 7000+ VR, I think I made it up to around 7200, but then I quickly dropped down to about 6900. Icy and BigCN are always getting 1st and 2nd, gah. I may start using a new bike to see how it works out. Is there anyone who wants to race in a friend room, which doesn't effect VR later tonight? I still haven't tried it out, and it may be fun depending on how many people we get to join.

I've been playing way too much MapleStory on a private server I found, so I'm a little out of it. I'll probably get some practice in tonight or something before I go and race.

I'm game. I'm not really into rating, and there should be plenty of people available for playing with since it's the start of the weekend. Hell, if we have enough people, maybe there can a GFF Grand Prix held for kicks.

I'll be on at that time too. Everybody else should be online at that time too!

I going try to get other people to join so we can have a crazy 12 player race and battle. :)
