Well it just arrived at the store that I work at (GamePower). So I'll be picking up my copy tonight. I have but haven't beaten Lenneth so it should be interesting to play them in chronological order. My friend has beaten Lenneth and he can't wait to get his hands on this one so I should be in for an awesome trip.
|
Well, actually I just got a call ten minutes ago saying it's in! I'd so be on my way now, but I have to pick up my car from the autoshop first >_>.

I picked this up today, but I'm sort of disappointed in the lack of a guide. The artwork for these games is always so fucking pretty...

From the few hours I've played so far, overall I would say the changes and the increased production value in VP2 has given a lot to the series. I think the only thing I'm having an issue with is the existence of the Bonus Gauge. It has my completist syndrome in conflict with one side screaming "KILL ALL THE ENEMIES" and the other side is tell me to "KILL THE LEADER GET MAX BONUS."

I miss the stories for the einheriar, it feels slightly half-assed this time around. Nothing else in the game bothers me, though I also missed the faster paced music for dungeons from the original game. The music here is still good though, and some of the tracks especially sound really amazing.

Heh, just got back. Turns out they were only sent the one guide today, so yeah, I have the one. They said they would get more soon. FYI, I'm in Toronto.
As to proof of it's existence: Valkyrie Profile 2 Simeria Official Strategy Guide. |
I've played about an hour and a half of this. All I have to say is it's very different in my mind. I'm still sucky at battle and used 2 union plumes as well as 2 healing items for the first boss battle. Immidiately you know what you have to do and dashing is key, however I freaked out when my party dispersed. It took me a while to find that the number of attacks you can launch is based on your AP before engaging into battle.

If anyone knows where to get a scanned copy of the guide, please post here. Already suffering from the fact that I did/could not play the first game.

And I guess at the same token you do not have a PSP. If you really want it, I just bit the bullet and paid $120 CDN for it like December 2005. Most expensive game I've paid, ever.
Lucky for you, I'd imagine the PSX copy prices have gone down. Also, holy shit, I haven't even gotten 1 session of the Break Combo or the Purify Weird Soul, whatever you want to call it. Getting 100 hits isn't easy for me ;___;. |
From what I remember of the japanese version, only certain weapons have the special attacks. I believe you get Alicia's first one in the second dungeon. Break Combo's seemed to be completely random though...
|
Man, this game is pretty damn fun so far, I'm loving the battle system. Getting "Niebelung Valesti" helped during the second boss battle. :)
And yes, you do get it from the weapon just before the second boss. |

You could call it robbing. Seriously, though. TO is a solid city. Great china town, Kensington and the Dance Cave. What more do you need? |
Heh, you go to the Dance Cave, huh? Interesting.

Just to hop back on topic for a moment, a friend of mine tells me the Silmeria guides will be in tomorrow, so I don't have to kill anyone or steal their stuff. ...want to go to the dance cave and mash to some Arctic Monkeys? |

I just got my copy today. Got home, finished getting the A ending in the first game(I'd beaten it before but that was a couple years back and I wanted to beat it again before playing this). I took a break and watched a wrestling DVD, then I popped this in. I've got to say so far it seems pretty cool, the lack of Einherjiar origins doesn't bother me cause in the overall aspect of things it makes sense. Silmeria is trapped inside Alicia, so it's not like she can fly around finding souls of people as they die. The only thing that bothers me is the strategy rpg feel they gave to the combat, but I'll just deal with it.
|
I played for about a half hour after work, up to the battle tutorial. Everything but the voice acting seems solid so far, but that doesn't bother me too much. Game is freakin drop dead beautiful. Great first impression, I think I'm dropping Disgaea 2 and going steady with this lovely lady.
