It certainly looks better than the old one did with the new Yoshi's island style graphics as opposed to the ugly yoshi's story junk.

WolfDemon Jun 14, 2007 01:54 AM

What do you guys make of the new Ridley arrangement? Possibly another newcomer? Or could they be revamping the Adventure Mode with character specific bosses?

Dark Nation Jun 14, 2007 02:19 AM

Ridley's Boss Theme: FUCK YEAH!

Its more likely that each character will have their traditional rival to fight.
Samus -> Ridley
Mario -> (Giga?)Bowser
Bowser -> (Paper/Metal/???) Mario
Snake -> METAL GEAR (!?)
Luigi -> Daisy ( :tpg: )

and so on and so forth.

Prime Blue Jun 14, 2007 07:56 AM

Today's update is here, containing crates and barrels.
I wonder what they'll be introducing tomorrow...A new texture, maybe? :rolleyes:
I'm not a fan of useless updates. Less am I a fan of daily updated websites, it just takes away the surprise a little. Then again, I'm just too curious...

Summonmaster Jun 16, 2007 12:05 AM

Normally it'd be useless, but the idea of flinging presents and runaway crates has got me excited. It's almost like they took the party ball idea and applied it to every crate and barrel minus the fanfare and confetti. Sliding explosive crates and barrels would also be quite lethal if you think about it, so you'd think thrice before approaching items. I hope the next update reveals a new actual item or two.

Chances are it might be a Newcomer update. Since they got everyone listed.

Dopefish Jun 16, 2007 09:29 AM

Except for Samus, who was announced yesterday.

immp Jun 16, 2007 09:32 AM

And next'll be wario...or....zero suit samus?

Someone wanna clear up the music thing for me? They said that the soundtrack would be fully orchestrated but so far all we have is a bunch of synth samples. I'm guessing these are just tastes of the arrangements which will eventually be orchestrated?

Personally, I prefer synth before orchestrations. An example is Dragon Quest VIII, where the non-orchestrated japanese soundtrack sounds a lot better in game than it's US/EU counterpart. The latter just doesn't fit right imo. :><:

immp Jun 16, 2007 01:03 PM

I have no problem with synth, it does work better than orchestrated sometimes. But, they said it would be but so far all we've had is the title music.
I'd like to see it all orchestrated since it worked perfectly in melee.

Yeah, melee did sound wonderfully, I'll give you that. :D

Oh god lets hope that Captain Syrup comes back. I havnt seen her since Wario Land 1 and 2.

shadowlink56 Jun 17, 2007 03:11 AM

It'd be cool to have boss fights in the adventure mode. They wouldn't even have to be playable characters, but Samus could fight Mother Brain at the end instead of Master hand, Link could fight Ganon, Snake could fight Metal Gear, etc.
Then you could switch it up and have Pikachu beat the tar out of King K. Rool, or have Link slice up King Deedeedee. Well, that may happen anyway . . .

Azingno Jun 18, 2007 08:28 AM

Well they put up Links Special attack for todays update, just surprised they didnt do a double update but maybe its just me.

With one *real* announcement per week, we'll see most of the details of the game out by December. We all know it, this game's looking to be a 2008 release at this rate.

The_Griffin Jun 19, 2007 03:57 AM

Finally, some REAL new info: Pikachu's Final Smash. Basically, the little rat turns into a "ball of light" which you can ram into your opponents. Sounds fun. =D

aviness Jun 19, 2007 07:09 AM

Haha, look at the poor pikachu in the last picture...

Nah I dont think it will. Problably October or November since that Nintendo World trailer did indicate they`re THAT close to completing the game. So I dont think it`ll be out in 08.

WolfDemon Jun 25, 2007 02:38 AM

New update. Zelda is one of the returning characters.

"Just like Link, Zelda’s design has also changed.
She has a slightly more subdued color scheme.

Her movement capabilities are not that good, but her magic adds power to her physical attacks. There’s a reason why her hands and feet glow, after all."

This of course means Sheik will probably be coming back as well.

Not really, there's a good chance Sheik has been axed and Zero Suit Samus gained that style of fighting. Not to mention this is TP Zelda, so we're probably going to get the last piece of the triforce from Twilight Princess too.

It's kind of like the situation for Roy, and several other characters. New games have since come out for those series and replacement is likely given Sakurai's mention of not everyone returning.

Black Mage Jun 25, 2007 07:54 AM

From a strictly canonical view, Twilight Princess Zelda turning into Shiek wouldn't make an awful lot of sense.

I think the signs are definitely pointing towards Zero Suit Samus playing in a similar manner as Sheik, effectively taking her place. Who knows, though. It's definitely possible Zelda could switch to Sheik again, or even be a completely separate character this time around.

The new model definitely looks great. I was hoping for the Twilight Princess design, as it is, in my opinion, the nicest looking.

Guru Jun 25, 2007 12:14 PM

Considering that Young Link has also been axed in favor of Wind Waker Link, it doesn't seem likely that there will be any OoT characters in this incarnation of Smash.

They said they're not doing "clone" characters, though.

Although Sheik was really different than Zelda and great players could use one or the other or the combo and make Zelda a quality fighter.

FatsDomino Jun 25, 2007 12:39 PM

I wonder if they could possibly fit an interesting environmental effect by including a Twilight Princess level that has twilight that will change characters into various things once inside them. Like Link into a wolf (with a possibility of Midna appearing and riding on his back if she isn't a stand-alone character), Midna (if they add her) into her chibi version, Zelda wears her cloak to block the twilight effect (if that's what the cloak actually does), bad guy characters turning into evil looking twilight versions, and good characters turning into transparent ghosts with blue flames inside them. Fighting would be largely unchanged beyond Link who'd behave a little differently for obvious reasons. He'd have to be balanced accordingly.

True, infact that rumor about Ridley, WW Link and Bowser Jr being new charcaters in the game was completely false. So there's no way he'll make it, besides I hate WW Link but that isnt the point he's a clone of the original and therefor he wont make it even if he had a different move set.
