Apperently that's just a rumor made by Finaland but turned out to be false since there was no actual announcement at TGS and on the website it still says its only for 360. Although, much like Eternal Sonata I'd expect to see this and Infinite Indiscovery make their way onto the PS3 about a year after each release.

Ryuu Oct 11, 2008 02:45 AM

Infinite Undiscovery is a Microsoft IP. Yes, it's developed by Tri-Ace, and yes, it's published by Square Enix, but it was originally supposed to be published by Microsoft, so it's their IP.

PunyPeon Oct 12, 2008 02:28 PM

Well just because it was SUPPOSE to be published by them doesn't necessarily mean it's theirs. In the end it's up to the companies on what they want to do - get mores sales on the PS3 or leave it as is?

Try again, fuckwit. Ryuu is, once again, correct.

Try doing a little research before opening your trap and making yourself look like a progressively larger idiot with each post, ok? It'll be doing a favour for all of us.

SouthJag Oct 12, 2008 03:47 PM

For the record, "Star Ocean" did not appear in that trademark list. Infinite Undiscovery, Lost Odyssey, Crackdown, etc. were all accounted for.

Cetra Oct 12, 2008 04:34 PM

I'm hoping SO4 is of decent gameplay length (well among many other things). I have no idea when it became acceptable for RPGs to be 20-25 hours in length but that's been the average so far this generation.

Try Tales of Vesperia. After putting about 45 hours into it and still being in part 2 of 3 I wish it were SHORTER!

I would, but I'm on my one man crusade of idiocy of never buying another Namco product again until they stop with the DLC ass raping.

Oh yeah and now I remember what I was orginally going to ask. Has anything about the battle system of SO4 been talked about? Specifically in the area of death due to MP loss? Because let me tell you that had to be one of the worst ideas ever to come out of a jRPG.

Final Fantasy Phoneteen Oct 12, 2008 08:05 PM

All of the Vesperia DLC is moot. The descriptions even state that the content offered is available in the main game without the need of a download, so who cares? If people want to spend those 5 bucks to see Judith in another skimpy costume, let them knock themselves out.

I'm with Cetra on MP Death. That being said, I don't believe it's been explicitly stated if it's going to make a return. I'm hoping we'll just luck out and find a video of a party member with 0 MP, but I'm not counting on that scenario.

You must have missed the part where we were specifically talking about Undiscovery. Because that was made quite clear.

I don't really blame you for skimming over those posts though, they're all pretty garbage.

Also, Miles, don't worry. The last act of Vesperia is a LOT shorter than the either of the first two. It's only three and a half dungeons. Only one of which is lengthy.

The guys over at Ruliweb.com have managed to record two long high quality gameplay videos of Star Ocean The Last Hope while playing at Microsoft's TGS 2008 booth.

These videos are around 130-150 megs size. I have a download monthly limit so I can't download these, since I recently downloaded a huge torrent. If people can post any interesting new features they saw, that would be nice.

Alright, so it's their IP, but that doesn't really change anything, Viva Pinata and Blue Dragon are Microsoft IPs as well, look where they're headed. Not to mention Rare is developing Viva Pinata...

Again, it's up to the companies to decide if they want to bring it over, all it would take is going to Microsoft and asking. So why don't you get the dick out of your ass you faggot? No one was flaming anyone until a certain D-Bag came.

Dark Nation Oct 19, 2008 08:05 PM

Just a head's up: For those planning to get Star Ocean: The First Departure,
it comes out in two days (10/21), or this Tuesday.

--edit--
I keep forgetting about street dates versus retail dates. Okay, so this WEDNESDAY then
for all of us.

SouthJag Oct 19, 2008 09:12 PM

Meaning a day after that. You'll be able to put your hands on it on Wednesday, as the game is not street dated.

Yeah, other, new games in the same series, not a port of the original game onto another console. So your examples don't even apply.

Do you listen to yourself talk or just conveniently ignore logic when you're blathering on? Face it, you're wrong, IU itself won't go anywhere else. Just be a good retard and accept that you made a mistake instead of dragging it out.

PunyPeon Oct 20, 2008 09:00 PM

Not really, how don't my examples apply? I'd like to think Viva Pinata is a port with a few added features unless you're one of those people who like to believe a PS2 game ported to the Wii with motion controls is a new game. It's essentially the same game, just using the touch screen to enhance the gameplay.

How someone like yourself was able to become a moderator here amazes me. Unfortunately for you, calling people retards on a message board won't stop your multitude of problems in real life. Wake up.

chato Oct 20, 2008 09:22 PM

So um.. This game comes out tomorrow. Just got a few copies today but my friend couldn't release it yet so I'll get my copy first thing tomorrow morning.

Because both games were/are DS bound, not to the PS3. Different enough so that they require being completely retooled from the ground up for either new features or entirely new gameplay, and quite simply do not fit into your little conjured up comparison in any logical way that proves that it's likely for IU to go to Sony's machine.

Could there potentially be something set in the universe on a handheld? Sure, there's precedent for that. I wouldn't have ever argued against that. But it's certainly not in the same boat as Eternal Sonata. It's a shame you've got too few firing brain cells to notice the rather vast difference here.

So quit your bullshitting, please. You're scaring the children.

I'd just like to point out that the Viva Pinata and Blue Dragon DS games are nothing like the games they're based off of.

I'll repeat what Skills said for emphasis. Is it possible that something in the IU universe will make it to another system? Yes. Will IU get ported? Fuck no. IU as a game is Microsoft's IP, they aren't likely to give it to someone else.

First Depature anyway. Because Second Evolution is coming out January.

Still getting FD anyway tomorrow; shit's gonna be great.

chato Oct 21, 2008 06:07 AM

In january, huh ? No surprise but I'm not too hyped about it either . I only heard about one new character being in that game and it happens to be welsch (sigh.. ). Everything else is new anime cut scenes and voice dialogue. Let's just hope they fixed the bugs in the battle field.

Philia Oct 21, 2008 06:24 AM

Star Ocean the First Departure

Glad to see some people STILL want this game despite of some reviews. IE Too short, too dull, and somewhat mediocre overall.

I have been waiting for this game to come out ever since I saw the title "Star Ocean the Second Story". After seeing the translated patch for it, and fiddling with the graphic pack and playing a bit into it, I realized I wanted to play this someday when it is completed. (The translation at that point was something like 90%.) Despite of the updates for the hack, I just didn't bother getting around to it. Yeahhh.... at least it'll be in my psp soon enough. :D

chato Oct 21, 2008 06:43 AM

Heh. I stopped reading game magazines because they always have something stupid to say about outdated graphics. There was nothing wrong with this game whatsoever. I remember gamepro (at the time) giving Suikoden 2 and SO2 a 2/5. So I can imagine what this game will get next year.

Dark Nation Oct 21, 2008 09:17 PM

Well, just picked up the game today, I'll let you guys know how it is after I play it for a little while.

Sousuke Oct 22, 2008 08:28 AM

I picked it up yesterday too, and played a couple hours into it. I have to say, I'm loving it. Though... I don't remember any of it. I guess it's just been a long time since I played it on the [z]SNES.
