Congle line of abuse. Or is that conga-line. Or congaline. Aug 13, 2007 07:58 PM

in the 2nd menu. Just hit the menu button twice and you'll see Config in the middle of it all. In that sub menu are many options that you might be interested in, not just resolution and graphics.

Yes, when your playing the game, there is a seperate config menu with options not available otherwise.

Just bumping this up. Anyone here still playing it?

I'm on Ramuh and I have a lvl 47 DRG, 34 mnk, 31 rdm, 23 whm, 22 war. and lvl 4 thief lol.

Inhert Feb 17, 2008 05:32 PM

I,m playing this at least once a week since I have a static party to do CoP missions.

I'm on Gilgamesh server, taru Monk lv75, brd 56, whm 42, sam 40 and some other job lower than that.

Named Sech if there's anyone on that server ;)

Karasu Feb 17, 2008 06:36 PM

I just got the Summoner job today, so i'm pretty stoked about it. My goal is to get Diabolos [since i'm a FFVIII/Diablos fan] hehe.

kupomog Feb 17, 2008 08:00 PM

I jussstttt started playing this game the other week. On Asura server with a level 15 Monk (Hume female). I've been holding off on it because I'm so digitally antisocial but my b/f begged me to play. I like it a lot but I've just been soloing so far. I need to start looking for parties. I did join a Linkshell...that's about the most interaction I've done with people. Pretty sad but when I next get on I'm going to start looking for parties in Valkurm Dunes.

Inhert Feb 17, 2008 08:40 PM

you'll probably not going to get diabolos avatar before you get one job to lv75 since there's no lv 20 fight for this avatar et diabolos is if i,m not mistaken the hardest to get. the fight is pretty hard, but a mana burn party can take it a lot easier than the others...

Sousuke Feb 17, 2008 09:28 PM

I play this on and off. I can't seem to get into it as much as I used to, not sure why. I picked up the WotG expansion and got the Scholar job, and had fun with it [though it's only level 10].

I'm on Phoenix, 62 [I think?] blm, 41 rdm, 25 or so smn. And a few others below 20. I love playing summoner, and the avatar fights are a blast. I held the time record [on our server] for most of the 20-cap fights before the big Aht Urhgan update.

Nexius Feb 18, 2008 08:41 PM

Heh... Old player here. I recently returned for the fifth time or so. 75 THF, 70 BLM, 48 WAR, 47 RNG, 41 NIN, plus a slew of stuff lower. Nexia on Hades if you're around there.

As for Diabolos, he can be soloed... Not -that- tough. But yes, you'll need to be 70+ to get him.

Inhert Feb 18, 2008 11:05 PM

oh, it's probably after that CoP "nerf" where most if not all missions and some other things where made easier. I remember the first time they release diabolos, only a mana burn party could make it.

kupomog Feb 19, 2008 07:43 PM

Huh. Neat. So I had my very first party/alliance experience yesterday. My Linkshell was gathering with other pals to do the Bastok Eco-Warrior quest. They let me come along despite being lv. 16 because they were confident I would be fine with all of them around (3 parties of 6 in the alliance).

Was a decent bunch of people:

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k2...218160808a.jpg

We got there, let a few sweepers clear the area, and everyone got the Level Restriction and we went in carefully like we planned. Then some impatient mage who had school in the morning touched the ???, after everyone screamed early on not to, before we could even situate ourselves. So naturally this happened:

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k2...218163209a.jpg

I had the honor of getting Raised early on only to end up coming face-to-face with a Bogy. So yeah...face planted for another love session with the wooden flooring.

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k2...218163435a.jpg

So we gathered up again and decided to try one more time. We made a very careful plan of action. Everyone was totally clear on what to do. We were ready this time.

Except, ya know..

DEATH PILE.

http://i90.photobucket.com/albums/k2...218181652a.jpg

In total I died 4 times because of being Raised as a respawn happened, but I didn't delevel so I'm very happy. And even though we died, I gotta admit that was a pretty awesome experience, and everyone in the alliance was really nice. I would totally do it again, lol.

There's a difference between the CoP mission and the actual prime avatar fight. You fight him in 3-5, and it's a 40 cap. All you really need to beat him there is a stunner (DRK or BLU). The avatar fight is what I'm talking about, that's a seperate uncapped fight, I doubt he got nerfed there... Though haven't tried yet, myself.

And to this day I've yet to do an Eco-Warrior, never got enough people interested in it. Sorry to hear yours didn't go so well =x

You know, it's experiences like this that keep bringing me back to the game. Pulling missions in large groups like this, even if you DO fail, is great fun. I've also never done an Eco-Warrior quest, but I've done others. My linkshell once did a 6-person run through of all the avatar fights one day [Fenrir and Diabolos excluded, sadly], and we all had a blast.

Kasonyn Feb 20, 2008 10:23 AM

I still play this, I play on siren instead of fairy now, some people around here apparently know i play from a post in my journal. <_<;;

Nowadays, Im a 75BLM, 72SMN (some day I need to top that off), most of my other jobs are 37 (with the exception of DRG, BST, DNC, SCH, and PUP, well, and BLU is 47) I'm working on leveling THF to 75 next with some of my friends who are leveling DNC, might level BRD with them though and THF on my own though, not quite sure yet...yes, I have alot of free time.

I didnt really like Wotg, most of my LS are "dancing around" though, so I'm PLing everyone.

And I had an alliance in like, my first month? For mhaura subjob items <.< And as far as COP goes im on the CS missions after sacrarium, dont remember the numbers.

As far as why I play, im a depressing person, and I play to drown my problems in, not the best reason, but...:/

Karasu Feb 21, 2008 12:00 PM

Well seeing as I got the Samurai job not too long, i'm learning this job is THE shit. It hits real hard, but its only flaw is it's defense from what I saw. Since i'm lvl 12, ive been soloing it and I noticed it gets dmged easily. Ah well though, I still think its a great job, especially since I got the Rare EX sword, Katayama.

Also, I did the CoP missions Prommy-Mea and Holla just yesterday, and now I have to do Dem. Hopefully i'll get that done and find out what that emo goth boy is up to lmao.

Shonos Apr 22, 2008 09:05 PM

Stop the fucking presses.

Why did no one tell me SE finally added a god damn male mithra NPC? Ofcourse it had to be in the expansion that comes out after I stopped playing.

Shit, I remember wanting to see one so much back when COP came out. Hoped with others when ToAU came out.. Then it gets added NOW? Oh well.

Gechmir Apr 22, 2008 09:07 PM

Still looks like a chick :V

Shonos Apr 22, 2008 09:13 PM

I think it looks more like squall..wait, yeah he looks like a girl too. :(

Gechmir Apr 22, 2008 09:20 PM

NEEDS MORE BUCKLES.

Black Mage Apr 23, 2008 06:32 PM

I'm absolutely positive there have been a male or two Mithra in Windurst since the beginning.

I haven't played in years, but I distinctly remember not believing it when I played and then being convinced otherwise.

EDIT: Obligatory Nomura's got his hands in everything now. :(

EDIT 2: Or maybe it was Mithras only mentioning males. Not so certain now.

Inhert Apr 23, 2008 09:21 PM

there's is no Male Mithras in FFXI. If I'm not mistaken, they only mention them, but there's no actual npc male mithra...

Shonos Apr 24, 2008 01:54 PM

There is now in the newest expansion. Just that one above.. But before that there were none you could see. They were just mentioned rarely in-game. There's also like, half a sentence that mentions them in the manual. That's it.

I may not play anymore but at least I finally got to see one, even if it was through the model viewer. >_>

MrSatan Jun 13, 2008 08:06 PM

i just got Vanadiel collection 2008 2 months ago, i totally love the game, i stopped playing blue dragon and silent hill origins(which i bought along) just to play this game.
im a lvl 15 thief/20 warrior, Yankele on Phoenix server, hope to play with some of you guys.

Shonos Jun 25, 2008 09:48 AM

I just re-joined after a ~2 year break. I must be losing my mind to get back into this game.

I cannot believe how much FFXI has changed since I last played. I use to mainly play a paladin and I come back to find out they DD now to hold hate post 50. I had to double take when I found that out. I had to turtle it up back in my day.

avanent Aug 4, 2008 01:21 PM

depends on your server, on asura paladins typically dont dd for hate.
