Well, as with most of you guys. I'm hoping for a new character update. IMO either FE's Boyd or Capcom's Mega Man (preferably X), instead of MM's normal body armor. But, I bet we'll probably receive another menu, stage or item update ^^;.
Or perhaps G.S' Isaac or F-ZERO's Capt. Falcon. Update: December 26th - Trophy Stands Among the many trophies are some representing the enemies that appear in The Subspace Emissary. http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamem...11_071226a.jpg Like this. But they cannot be gotten easily. You must turn the enemies directly into trophies to get them! The item that is needed to do this is a trophy stand. http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamem...11_071226b.jpg Basically, it’s the stand the trophy rests on. When an enemy appears, you need to significantly weaken it. http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamem...11_071226c.jpg Pay attention to the damage meter at the top-left corner of the screen. If you’re lucky enough to have a trophy stand, throw it at your enemy after you’ve weakened it! http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamem...11_071226d.jpg If it goes well... http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamem...11_071226e.jpg It will hit with a thud! http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamem...11_071226f.jpg And it becomes a trophy! Now you get the trophy. Whoa! What’s happened?! You could say this is only possible because of the setting of the Smash world. http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamem...11_071226g.jpg You can then view that trophy in your trophy gallery! Perhaps the trophy descriptions will give you some insight into the backstory of The Subspace Emissary... Of course, you can also do this to get boss trophies. http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/gamem...11_071226h.jpg Yes! I’m definitely gonna get you today! Since you can’t get these trophies if you don’t have a trophy stand, pure skill is not enough—it requires a little luck, too. I’ll make it so you’ll somehow be allowed to fight the bosses even after you’ve already cleared the game, so it’s OK if you don’t hunt all these trophies down in the first battle. |
Nope. Just another stupid Trophy update.
Basically, there's an item available called the Trophy Stand. After weakening the enemy for sometime, you can chuck the stand at the enemy to make him a trophy. Think Pokemon in Pokeball. |

Once the Japanese release hits, there's probably going to be some freaks whoring out the game giving us the full character roster, therefore rendering new character updates after the release the kinda useless. ::sigh:: |

By the way, I went back to listen to the Angel Island Music again and I noticed something that Sakurai said: Quote:

Well, one of the stickers looks very similar to Silver the hedgehog -- or, whatever the hell it is -- in a screenshot that was posted on the Dojo website (bottom right)
http://xs322.xs.to/xs322/07523/wi-fi02_071116c-l.jpg (This update: Smash Bros. DOJO!!) So, I wouldn't be surprised if Knuckles makes an appearance in some fashion. Also, did anyone notice this? The Musicians list updated with Jun Senoue being added after yesterday's Angel Island Zone arrangement. |
OK, since the image apparently didn't work after like, 5 minutes, I said that we need MIGHTY BOMB JACK.
Or Michael Jackson. MICHAEL FOREVER |

For Jackson, I doubt that will happen anytime soon. Actually, it will never. Considering the fact that Melee never had Jackson or any other celebrity star for that matter. So don't expect Brawl to have it either. Just only characters pertaining to Nintendo or the 3rd party developers (Capcom, Konami, etc...).
|
I don't think wvlf was being serious. Otherwise we would be seeing Mike Tyson in there with Little Mac.

"[image] Eh? Michael J-J-Jackson!? Yes the famous 'King of Pop' has graciously decided to arrive for the Brawl! Mr. Jackson was once was in a videogame called "Moonwalker", which was based on a very long music-video he produced, so there will be some moments from the video seen in his Smash Debut! [image] Here, Michael uses his powerful "Moon-Walker" attack to hop back to the ledge. Hope he slides fast enough! [image] Uh-oh! here comes trouble! Michael looks flushed. [image] Mr. Jackson's Final Smash will really surprise you! It'll be a thrill... Oh I might have given it away!" Oh and if he was put into the game, I imagine the tiny icon next to him would either be a Glove, or a Fedora Hat :p As far as the last Update goes, I think its a bit... unnecessary? I mean he could have easily just said "There will be a chance for the Trophy of the enemy to drop, but it will only appear in certain times" or something like that. Just seems like its an unneeded extra step. |

Well, I guess it's a new "element" to the game, and maybe he thought that was enough to warrant an update. Also, I think Chaotic is right when he said that it's kinda like catching Pokemon, so the trophies won't just drop randomly after you defeat an enemy, but the trophy stand itself will randomly appear, so you can use it to catch the enemies. |
And we got another interesting, yet lame update.
Update - December 27 Coin Launcher In the last game, you plopped the coins you collected into a prize-dispensing machine for a chance to get trophies. That was fine and all, but I got to thinking that there really wasn’t any strategy involved. So this time, I dropped it. Instead, you’ll be getting your trophies in THIS kind of game! http://www.smashbros.com/de/gamemode...20_071227a.jpg I dub this the Coin Launcher! I’m gonna have you play every inch of this game! http://www.smashbros.com/de/gamemode...20_071227b.jpg That option on the right is the entrance to the Coin Launcher. http://www.smashbros.com/de/gamemode...20_071227c.jpg That thing down below is the launcher. Tilt left and right to change the angle of the launcher and press the button to roll coins out. Basically, the coins themselves are your bullets. http://www.smashbros.com/de/gamemode...20_071227d.jpg Firefirefirefire. FIRE! http://www.smashbros.com/de/gamemode...20_071227e.jpg And you got it! The trophies move, so shoot, shoot, shoot them before they get away. If you hit a trophy with a few shots, it will be yours. http://www.smashbros.com/de/gamemode...20_071227f.jpg An enemy formation has appeared! When you defeat formations of smaller enemies, you earn stickers and bonuses. When your green gauge fills up, it becomes possible to shoot coins rapid-fire for a short time. http://www.smashbros.com/de/gamemode...20_071227g.jpg A missile appeared! Hit the missiles to shoot them down. If a missile strikes, your coin count will decrease! http://www.smashbros.com/de/gamemode...20_071227h.jpg Whaaaaaaa! Press the Cancel Button to quit. Then the results of your trophy and sticker shooting will appear. http://www.smashbros.com/de/gamemode...20_071227i.jpg The green ones are trophies. The red ones are stickers. The more you play the other modes, the more coins you’ll earn for the Coin Launcher. You can even earn them in Spectator mode. When you want even more coins, inviting friends over is your best option. The more people you play with, the more coins you’ll earn. |
Oh no... I mention using that lottery thing to get trophies easily and then he throws this at us...
:tpg: - Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo~!! |
Talk about bad luck on the updates eh?
|
I like this update. :D
How will Nintendo ever top Super Smash Bros. Brawl? This is one of the most ambitious titles they've ever done -- on par with, if not surpassing, Twilight Princess. |
Well, when I look back at it. It does give gamers a more easier break. As compared to when trying to achieve trophies in Melee. Which were mostly time based.
@trackjacket: Well, like with Halo 3. This game will probably no doubt be hard to find during the inaugural launch day to the first week of the game's release. Because like T.P, this' also on the top of gamers list in 2008. Galaxy was fun, but this and Radiant Dawn just blows other "wannabe" fighting games like these out of the water. |

Still, I get the impression that a large portion of the development team is sitting around with nothing to do while the rest fix up whatever needed a couple extra months of attention, so they're just throwing in anything and everything to keep busy. |
Oh hay Zoda and Death Anchor.
This seems far, far more fun than the lottery. |

No, Twilight Princess was good but considering it was just improved Ocarina of Time and being heralded as being the next leap in Zelda it didn't deliver nearly enough. In that respect it was pretty disappointing. That's why we don't want Brawl being compared to it.
|
My comparison wasn't about the quality of the title, guess I should've said that, though. I was just talking about the amount of content in the game, lengthy development time, and the size of the team working on it (Twilight Princess was Nintendo's largest undertaking). Although, that last part won't be revealed until the game's actually released.
|
Basically if you're going to please Zelda fans it'll have to be as awesome as the first time you played through Link to the Past and Ocarina of Time and 3 times as long as them combined with all kinds of awesome new shit that doesn't feel rehashed or gimmicky. But enough about Zelda. This week as been rather slow, ya think something nice will be shown tomorrow?

It seems odd to me that people were annoyed with a Bigger, Badder, Ocarina of Time, especially after the sheer epic amount of bitching that resulted from Wind Waker, a game that was quite a departure from OOT in a number of ways. (I've also heard enough whining about the stylus controls in Phantom Hourglass) Largely, people want their first gaming experiences recreated and it takes far more to impress someone the second time around. It is like a bunch of crack heads complaining that no matter what drugs they take, they can't recreate that first high. The quality of the pharmaceuticals has really nothing to do with the the reaction of the druggies. I personally never really got 'into' Ocarina of time. I'm not saying I didn't like it, but I was underwhelmed by that game for much the same reason people were underwhelmed by TP. The hype. Nintendo talked about amazing graphics, a massive overworld, innovative play control, epic battles on horseback. Basically, for me, TP was the game that OOT promised to be. I really enjoyed the entire thing. I actually spent about 3 months, savoring the experience because I know good games don't come around very often. I guess I'll have to try OOT again, once Skills gives me back my Master Quest disc. For Brawl, I'm purposefully not having any expectations for the game because I want to be able to play it from as neutral a position as possible. I feel at least this way, I'll truly know if it is good or not. |
I'm personally not a Zelda fan at all, but I thought Twilight Princess was definitely a well-made game.
And you probably have a good point... I'm going into Brawl with extraordinarily high expectations. I hope I'm not setting myself up for disappointment. |
