Regarding that PC/Wii mod: How do they keep the case cool? They must have quite a few fans in there or I bet the Wii overheats. I have my Wii sitting on its bottom rather than on its side, and when I pick it up after I've been playing a few minutes the bottom feels very hot...

I had my uncle's Wii for a while, and I want to get one for myself, but... I've got questions.
First of all, do you guys know if they'll be releasing different colors? I can't stand having a white one, and I'm also wondering if they'll ever have built-in batteries on the Wiimotes. Is it a possibility? What do you guys think? Second, when does the first price drop for a system usually occur? Will it happen with the Wii? I know it's already pretty cheap but I'm willing to wait. |
Mmmm they better make a pink one to match my DS!
|
immp, pink I'm pretty sure will not happen. Not here at least. These are consoles we're talking about. Spraypaint a white one pink if you're desperate.
Josh, I'm guessing that in half a year a black model will be out. Probably around summer if sales slow down which they don't seem to be doing right now. They have enough trouble keeping a steady supply of white consoles on shelves. Also, buy rechargeable batteries. It's an extremely easy and affordable solution. I actually prefer it to having to have some stand to stick the controller into or some cord. A few things less that I have to worry about. Plus it's much easier to stick in new already charged batteries than have to wait a couple hours for a controller to charge up. Maybe someone with a 360 or PS3 can tell you their experiences with their wireless controllers. I dunno, maybe it is better. Maybe it is an inconvenience. All I know is that I haven't had a great time recharging certain appliances such as mice via cradles and their various ilk. Oh, and a price drop isn't happening anytime soon. Maybe in two years. Maybe, and seriously you'd be pushing it, but at next holiday season. The Wii is just selling too well to get a price drop. The only reason they'd drop it would be to strategically sell a lot of software with them like they did when they killer app'd us with Nintendogs for the DS and likewise with Mario Kart DS. It's really a different way of marketing when it comes to handhelds though. I wouldn't wait around if there are a couple of games you want to play. I definitely wouldn't wait around after this holiday season when we're bound to get a bunch of the huge titles. |
I can dream cant I? Its such a nice calming color, I bet it'd be hard to find in spray paint form. Candy Kirby flavor.
Didnt they have pictures of a black, white and blue wiimote from TGS or something? I seem to remember a baby blue wiimote in a display case with the others. One would assume they have 2 new colors coming. |

Well, I guess I have plenty of time to make my choice. I mean, I kinda want a 360 too. And I prefer plugging my DS into an outlet to actually popping in new batteries every few hours. That just isn't for me. |
Any of you guys checked into the hacking/modding/whatever-it's-called scene? I just ran across this site which claims to already have a working mod chip for the system - http://www.wiinja.com/. I also have seen tons of torrent sites with Wii games for download, and in the comments section people sound like they are actually having successful results.
This may actually convince me to get a Wii, especially if it allows for the backup of GameCube games (I never had one of those either :(). I missed out on quite a few titles from Nintendo last generation... |

woohoo, finally got my Wii. I found that some electronics asshat was hording 4 Wii's in the stockroom at Sears because I checked the inventory with the item # on the computer. So basically he had to bring it out and sell it. Soooo... with discount it was $239 including the added tax :)

Whatwhatwhat. There's apparently a new channel avaliable to download. =o
http://gonintendo.com/wp-content/photos/wiivote1.JPG http://gonintendo.com/wp-content/photos/vday.JPG Screens from GoNintendo. What a bag of mystery. I can't download this at the moment because I'm just on the internet for another eight or five seconds. Have a try! Successed! |
Sounds interesting enough to get.
But Everybody Votes Channel? What the hell is up with that? |
It's nifty enough; as least it's something else to do with your miis. What's up with asking what region (state) I live in? Will there be state-specific questions like "What goes best on a crab, butter or Old Bay?"
Edit: Cool, I didn't notice the box where you can suggest your own question. That's pretty spiffy, right there. |
i cant wait to see how out of touch with the popular opinion i am, heh.
[this has been a wii post from my bed] |
Ooh, that's a nifty new channel. It'll be interesting to see how it goes once they start posting a lot of polls.
|
I wonder if it'll end up with question like "MARIO OR LINK ???!" someday.
|
Cloud from FFVII would still somehow win if that question popped up.
|
Just heard my cell phone-speaker interference.
And BAM! Glowing Wii. Downloading the new channel as we speak. |
