Whoo. Another new stage and some music.
We get another Samus stage in this update, it doesn't involve some sort of liquid that can hurt you, but rather, the rotation idea never seems to die for this series. Unlike Brinstar Depths, this one is actually a flat stage for some time. When a siren goes off, the stage rotates and the stage itself inverts. Pretty cool stage. It's from Metroid Prime, by the way. Frigate Orpheon:
Our music on the other hand, is from Mother 3. Mother: Porky's Theme Music for me is alright... Not particularly fond of it, but it's alright. |
Awesome to see another Mother update. xD Liking that music.
The Frigate Orpheon looks awesome, too. =D |
That Metroid stage seems like it's probably much better in motion. It looks rather sterile in still frames.
Mother 3's soundtrack doesn't seem to catch me as much as Mother 2's did. At least from one terrible remix album and this single track is the impression I've been left with. |
Original Mother soundtrack > the others. :P
Anyone else disappointed with the Metroid stages so far? And, of all the beautiful locales that Retro Studios created with the Prime series, why the Frigate Orpheon? Why not Chozo Ruins? Or, Phendrana Drifts, Sanctuary Fortress, Sky Town... |
I wonder if the parasite queen is totally aesthetic, or if it lays down some pain every once in a while like Kraid did.

I do hope that stage is indeed better in motion. When I first saw it, it just felt like a few platforms floating around a static background with the parasite queen just so it can be called a Metroid stage. Although, I was never much of a fan of any of the Metroid stages in the past, so I'm not really expecting too much from this one either.

New Item. Team Healer. Useless on your own, but you can chuck it at a teammate to heal them. But beware that you might not hit your teammate, so throw carefully.
Not much else to say about it. <_< |
Subtle tidbit thrown in as an aside: no more yellow team.
I never bothered with team play myself, but I can see one thing wrong with this item: the 1 in 3v1s will be at a further disadvantage. That is, unless, you can only be in teams of two. |

But the item allows anyone to intercept it. So even if it's a 3v1 match, you can still get healed given someone from the other team throws it at you. |
If there was a yellow team, then that would make it four individual teams fighting against each other. And team-play free-for-all is nonsensical and redundant, seeing as we already have free-for-alls in regular matches. Three teams are all you need:
3 vs. 1 2 vs. 2 1 vs. 2 vs. 1 |
Maybe I just wished there was a yellow team.

Kirby's Special moves. (AKA Copying via inhaling the enemy)
Lots of pictures, warned (each named for the hell of it):
|
Woot. Kirby's Special Abilities. Specifically, his B special which copies other people's B attacks.
It's official, Kirby is a bad ass looking like Snake. I'll let Killer take the pictures since he's on it. |

The only hats not included were Lucas (would have been hilarious to see that hairdo. xD), Sonic, Ike, Charizard, Bulbasaur and the Ice Climbers. (If I'm wrong, please correct me.) |
looool @ Snake Kirby. This, while being a useless update, is much more interesting than those sound test updates.
|
Half inhaled Mario is teh best screenshot yet.
They should've dropped a character announcement into today's update. Like Kirby earing olimar's helmet or soemthing |

I guess King Dedede's standard special move is to inhale people and then forcefully spit them back out like he did in the older Kirby games. (I wonder how that's going to work...? When he did it to Kirby, Kirby always got damaged from hitting the side of the arena where he was fighting King Dedede. There will be no sides to hit here, so this move should be interesting to see how it works.) I find it kind of funny that Kirby gains another inhale ability for his inhale ability. I imagine that he will probably only gain the ability to forcefully shoot people out after copying King Dedede. Since King Dedede could pretty much do everything Kirby could when it came to inhaling (aside from copying), it's not like Kirby really gains a lot after copying King Dedede. But we'll see, since no one knows how this move's going to work. |
Did I miss an update? Kirby has a Zelda hat up there, but I don't think they've mentioned her yet, apart from that brief appearance in the story mode. Are they going with Ocarina of Time Zelda/Sheik, or something new?

Yes, she is returning. Default outfit is from Twilight Princess. Sheik is unconfirmed at this point. Also: Snake Kirby = FUCK WIN |
The new Metroid stage seems disappointing. Especially when compared to Brinstar Depths (which I seem to be only fan of).
The Kirby stuff, though, looks fun. I love Snake and Squirtle Kirby. Good stuff. I have a minor gripe that Kirby shouldn't be able to suck up Dedede, as he hasn't been able to in the past, but it's a different game with different rules, so I don't really mind. Besides, he looks interesting with a Dedede hat. |

Poor Toad is about to be violated. Look at the shock on his face, that says it all. Also, the Kirby Snake is just hilarious but bad-ass at the same time. I remember hearing a rumor a while back that they weren't going to have Kirby copy other characters' moves anymore and use abilities from when he sucked up enemies in his own games, but I'm glad they kept this feature in. |
I'm betting Dedede can carry people in his mouth and jump while he's doing it...kinda like DK's grab. I'd be nasty if he could spit them in any direction. Inhale, jump, spit down.
