Spoiler:
there should be another switch on the other side of the tomb that lowers the wall completely

Simo Nov 4, 2006 11:10 AM

I'm now supposed to head to...
Spoiler:
King Raithwall's Tomb

...but I decided to head back to Rabanastre and finish up some loose ends including taking out that Wraith mark and joining Clan Centurio. As it stands now I have 4 marks and 2 'Elite Marks' under my belt with 4 achievements including 500 kills, 200 attacks, X number of steps taken and...well I forget but it's the little Fran icon anyways.

Since I'm in the Giza Plains I'm charging up another sunstone before I head back into town to see the other Elite Mark and any more postings before heading off west.

Spatula Nov 4, 2006 11:44 AM

Simo, are you at the part just after the following:

Spoiler:
Escaping with Ashe from the Leviathan, and now you're back at the Aerodome? I have 2 teleport stones, and I'm thinking of heading back to Rabanastre, but I just want to make sure that the game allows me to get back to Ondores place on Bhujerba. Is this allowed? I still want to finish up that 3rd mark, the cactus with the flower on top of its head.

MeyrinMai Nov 4, 2006 12:24 PM

Usually, some enemies have a green health bar. If you have ever played a mmorpg, you'll notice that those enemies are not agressive. This kind of enemies in this game are usually tougher than the rest (like the dinosaur on the first area or the elementals), i suggest to come back waaay later, when you have at least two quickenings per character and you'll be able to finish them in no time.

I have just finished the giant turtle mob hunt, man that was a tough one.

Shenlon Nov 4, 2006 12:35 PM

giant turtle? is that the one in the giza plains?

MeyrinMai Nov 4, 2006 12:38 PM

Giant turtle is easy but it has alot of life lol

Dizzy Nov 4, 2006 12:47 PM

Is at the Giza plains, yeah. But it's a different one that we usually see around there.

Spoiler:
It's shell it's too damn hard. It took me like 10 minutes to kill the bastard, even with my characters with 3 quickenings each. I was able to connect a quickening combo of 19 hits and I barely scratched him. =/. The problem is that the turtle cast blind, slow and one of the most annoying spells, disable...

tell me about it
Spoiler:
I was WAY under leveled and the only person I had a 3rd quickening to was Ashe. I had to use every single character to keep up the quickening combos and since I was ignorant enough to try to beat it I used up my elixers and was finally able to beat it. I wasn't even level 30 yet ;_;

Actually, just wondering if anyone can answer my question that I posed to Simo. I just happened to ask him since it so happens he's just a bit ahead of where I am.

Leviathan:

Yes you can.

Basically, the only places that I'm certain you can't go back to are:
not really a spoiler:
the empire's airships.

Just go ahead with the story and visit Ondore.
Spoiler:
The game will take you back to Dalmasca anyway so you can resume any hunts you had there and future ones too.

Freelance Nov 4, 2006 02:32 PM

Based on the weapons I chose for the team, what weapon should Ashe use? I want a different weapon for each person.

Vaan with Pole. Front line fighter with some healing magicks for support.
Balthier with Gun for those defense heavy monsters. I read that guns don't take DEF into acct.
Fran with Bow for those high flying enemies that other weapons can't reach, or so I've read. She'll also do the bulk of the magicks.
Basch with one-handed sword. Front line fighter of course.

I'm not planning on using Penelo (don't ask why), so I haven't chosen any weapon for her.
My main three fighters are going to be Vaan, Basche and Fran, with Bathier as backup in case something bad happens.

Which is more preferable? Someone who does both black and white magick, or split them between two characters?

P.S. I found 2 strong bows for Fran for FREE! Got them in treasure chests in the mines.

I'm currently supposed to be going to the tomb, but the enemies on the way there are too much for me. I'm levelling up now because I'm pretty darn sure I'm underlevelled.

Shenlon Nov 4, 2006 02:45 PM

Ashe originally started off with a sword so I kept her along those lines. I also gave her a few staffs since she was my healer.
I actually noticed that balthier attacks harder with guns than with poles no matter what the optimizer says so I kept him with guns since he can be one of the stronger players early in the game if your able to find some guns

Spatula Nov 4, 2006 02:49 PM

What levels are your characters at, Wolf?

I think my mine are around 15, with Ashe being the highest at 18, and Fran the lowest at 10, since I haven't really used her much.

Freelance Nov 4, 2006 02:59 PM

Everyone's at level 13, except for Penelo at 11 (not gonna use her anyway) and Basch, who just turned level 14. I want to keep the team balanced, so I'm constently switching the team around whenever one levels.

I don't really like how slow the guns fire.

If it's better to use one character for black and one character for white magick, then I suppose Bathier can be the black magick user. Since he's a ranged character anyway, he'd be a good candidiate.

I suppose Ashe can stick with a sword then.

Don't you just hate it when you avoid the hidden traps, only to have one of your party members step on it? You'd think that with the advances in AI we've had for a while now, people won't be stupid enough to step on a tile that I purposefully avoided.

Musharraf Nov 4, 2006 03:17 PM

Something just came into my mind:

My main party consists of Vaan, Basch and Ashe, they all are Level 28 give or take, while the other three (Balthier, Fran and Penelo) are only at Level 14 or 15. I just hope this isn't going to be a problem (e.g. Basch or Ashe leaving the party) since I really don't want to level up the other characters as well.

What are you guys strategies? Do you keep all your characters on the same level or do you concentrate on pushing your main party? How often do you change your main party?

Oh, btw,
Spoiler:
Ogir Yensa Sandsea

is a great area to level up your characters. First of all, you have Vossler, whose strength is quite helpful and you can get chain levels like wow (I, personally, managed to get a 200-chain-level there).

Shenlon Nov 4, 2006 03:18 PM

hehe yeah the traps can be annoying.
"Oh look libra technik lets me see the traps =D"
*stupid AI steps on it*
"wtf ;_;"

I noticed that Libra is the only technik I've only really used, and I have around 40hrs in the game :/

Since I am permanently out of ethers (I dunno why, is it possible to buy them somewhere or what), I found the Charge technique to be extremely useful. If it works, of course ;) But even if it doesn't just try it a couple of times and it will work. Of course, you shouldn't try that when you're in a fight.

Shenlon Nov 4, 2006 03:23 PM

I honestly like to pretend like I can't switch vaan to keep him in the main character slot. So he's the highest level character while everyone else is at an even level.
Keeping one character ahead of others is a cool way imo just to have some extra power in the party

EDIT: Oh yeah I forgot about charge, that is a usefull one that I never use ^^;
Walking around regenarating is good enough for me i guess

TheXeno Nov 4, 2006 05:11 PM

I"ll post some of my stats.. I have about 307,000 clan kill points.. I have about 6 or more sprites unlocked in the sky pirates den. I have 11 marks killed. My average lvl of my character is 28.

Anyway I seem to have trouble of getting Frans speed up. Only hats seem to effect her speed attribute, and I've been giving her bow threw the whole game.

I"ll give you guys my Strategy. Have one character cast berserk on another, then have 1 major and one side healing/magic user. I've been running through dungeons and such using this tactic. Bosses are easy especially since I recently got bone armor and a bone helmet. Some of the higher level marks take awhile though since they have so much health. The second Wyrm mark i've come across took me about 15-20 minutes useing lvl 23 characters.

Walking around regerating MP normally takes way too long, especially if your guys are at high levels and you're depleted your MP to near zero. I should find that charge technick and use it when I'm almost zero MP, this way should it back fire, it won't harm me too much.

Freelance Nov 4, 2006 06:12 PM

Is it normal for Vaan at level 14 to be pumping out 380+ damage with a Cypress Pole?

I stopped playing today. I played all afternoon :D It's time to give my PS2 a break, haha.

Vaan has 2 Quickenings, Balthier has 1, Fran has 1 and Basch has 2. Whoo...

There's a pole in the game called Gokuu, which is pretty cool considering the legend.

Vaan's at level 14 and you already got six quickenings? That's pretty sick, dude O_o
