The only characters shown were Mario, Link, Kirby, Pikachu, Meta Knight, Pit, Samus, Zero Suit Samus, Wario, and Snake. But if the jump in quality for these characters is any indication you can feel at ease that Fox whose Melee model is still the best Fox model despite two newer Starfox games after will be even better.

I'm not sure what to think about the fart thing either. Although Wario, as you mentioned, is all about crude humour, the same thing didn't work for Neemon in Digimon Rumble Arena 2. That move, pardon the pun, stunk. Let's hope Wario's move is better.

True enough. Melee's model was great. Fox in Adventures wasn't bad, although he was a tad -too- furry. Assault's model was horrendous, and the DS model isn't any better.

Expect a full list of awesome moves from his games. He's going to be a great character. No doubt about it.

No he isn't. Have you EVER played a Warioland game? He has tons of attacks that aren't crude. It's only in WarioWare that he became this way, and even then it was only snot. Nothing else.

Wario Ware version of Wario does indeed rock. This however makes me yearn for more Wario Ware characters. Kat & Ana would be so marvelous, plus best suited for fighting, and I would loooove to try playing as Jimmy or Mona.

Hopefully they'll at least appear in cameos and the game will be filled to the brim with delightful inside jokes and references <3

They would be awesome, but I think they are more likely to put Waluigi in it, especially after he was in Mario Kart DS. Luckily he also has lots of comedy potential. (judging by Mario Tennis and Golf)

Waluigi would be awesome purely because of his character design being so lanky offers a lot of interesting potential for fighting. I would love to see him in the game.

But back on topic, I was thinking about this guys, with how Nintendo is going to run their Virtual Console and WiiConnect24 service, I bet you tons of money that they will have and add additional characters, levels, powerups, etc. to the game that you can get after the fact.

So Megaman and all your wildest dreams don't need to be in the final right away any way....They'll probably come later for sure.

I don't want too many 3rd-party characters, otherwise it could loose its Nintendo-ness. I am thingking Resident Evil charcters wouldn't work, as they (like Snake) only really use guns and not many other ways of combat and Sakurai mentioned he didn't want to bring realistic guns into the equation. I can't really Snake being a character that is all too interesting, also I have no idea what his "extra" jump could be. I think characters with a variety of attacks are more suitable, I can see Megaman and Z working well, also Viewtiful Joe and Silvia.

Of course there are characters that are already a near certainty. Diddy for one, I think will be included, also Waluigi. I also hope that there are less character clones. I mean Luigi now, after Luigi's Mansion, probably has enough moves to not be a duplicate of Mario anymore.

Could someone explain to me why loser no name charaters like Zero Suit Samus, Roy, Ice Climbers and Pit get to be included while characters such as Akari Hayami, Ricky Winterborn, Andy and Sami who have featured in 3 games (two more than those fags) get overlooked?

Probably because 1080 and Wave Race characters don't lend themselves to this kind of game as well as them, Rab. =/

What the motherfucking fuckshit is Snake doing in a Smash Bros. game?

Now that I've gotten my amazement out of the way, OH MY GOD SNAKE'S IN A SMASH BROS GAME! AWESOME!

I personally can't for the life of me understand why people are complaining that Snake "ruins the Nintendo purity". I never saw Smash Bros as a Nintendo Exclusive club, and since Snake was on GC, he's Nintendo enough for me and his inclusion was a genuine pleasant surprise. No one's even forcing them to play as Snake, did Soul Calibur fans actually whine about Namco ruining "SC purity" because Link or Heihachi were in part 2? =/

I don't naturally want them to go overboard with this and I'm sure they won't, so I welcome all third and first party characters alike with open arms and an enthusiastic grin.

Possibly because nobody has ever heard of those people before? I can even identify the Fire Emblem characters, but I have no idea who those people are.

Advance Wars characters would be pretty awesome though. Sami and Max especially, plus possibly Grit with a rifle.

Actually, from what I've seen, most everybody is welcoming him with open arms now. People are WTFing more simply because it was so unexpected, I guess.
