What a sweet chapter. It's kinda sad how Fuuka tends to be on the brunt side of the humor, but the Yotsuba/Fuuka chapters are my fav combination all the same.

Scarletdeath Sep 5, 2006 02:56 PM

Fuuka's expression when she was made the joke was priceless. Someone should make an av/sig out of that. ='D

Skaijo Sep 5, 2006 06:20 PM

We'll I decieded I'm a bigger fan of all things Yotsuba than all things forum posting. I still can't post my Yots&! animation in a post, but I left a link in my sig.

It's a stupid thing my friend and I made on labor day.

Don't hate me. :P

FatsDomino Sep 5, 2006 06:31 PM

Hahaha that was awesome! ='D

Gonna host it for you if that isn't a problem. =)

That's sweet. The people in this forum are way too friendly, I swear.

FatsDomino Sep 5, 2006 06:52 PM

Feel free to stick around then. We could always use another Yotsubato fan and someone who knows how to have fun with flash. I'm terrible at flash.

Skaijo Sep 5, 2006 07:11 PM

I thought the starfish .swf was pretty damn funny. It's certainly passable on Newgrounds, you should try to submit it there. I'd bump up the frame rate a bit, but you're a solid animator in my book.

I recently found some Try Try Try webcomics, which have been translated by Sparky Manga. They're not the same as the Try Try Try oneshot that's linked in the first post (though I'll add these to the list as well)

According to the readme file:
Quote:

In July 2001, Pioneer released a book entitled Azumanga Two, featuring a comics by Azuma Kiyohiko. Along with the book came bundled two small, one-episode comics (Wallaby and Try! Try! Try!), and a bonus CD. Azuma went on to create the very successful Azumanga Daioh, but this series has nothing to do with Azumanga Two, apart from sharing the same creator.

Try! Try! Try! went on to become the series Yotsubato!, which is currently being serialised in the monthly Japanese magazine Dengeki Daioh. It tells the story of a small green-haired girl (Yotsuba) and her father, after they have moved to a new neighbourhood. They soon befriend the three Ayase sisters living next door, and much hilarity ensues.

The two short Try! Try! Try! comics in this file are 'webcomics' from the bonus CD that came with Azumanga Two. They were given silly episode numbers to represent the fact that they're just little bonus episodes. The first, Episode -1: Ena-chan's mishap, tells the story of an interesting discovery made by Ayase Ena. The second, Try! Try! Try! Fractional Episode, is a nice story about the different characters' reactions to Yotsuba's mischief.
The humor is not quite as warm as in the manga proper, but the pages are still a lot of fun, especially Episode -1

(Fuuka's and Asagi's haircolors are omega weird though since I'm so used to the manga ='D)

Thanks Q~!

The hair color is friggin' weird. Why can't they stick to black and dyed-blonde

map car man words telling me to do things Sep 11, 2006 12:43 PM

Well, this was before Azuma started the manga, so the hair colors had not been finalized (or maybe this isn't even an official coloring, not sure). Either way, Fuuka with red hair was bizarro :tpg:

Scarletdeath Sep 11, 2006 01:11 PM

I've just read it; so short ;___;

Yotsu still has the green hair and eyes though~

Thanks Qwarky and everyone else for this. I didn't understand what the fuss was all about when everyone started using avatars of a girl with 4-leaf-clover-like hair. But now, I've jumped on the Yotsuba bandwagon.

Little did I know I find it addictive - I was up to like episode 18 before I realised it.

Qwarky, Blah - The Image Album link does not work.

Admiral Amara Sep 13, 2006 08:06 AM

Those little "Try! Try! Try!" shorts certainly weren't on par with "Yotsuba!&", but then again, they were the first attempts at the characters and situations. They're still cute, for certain, particularly when Ena thought her Hamster was eaten, and it shows up on the front door mat - that moment in particular foreshadows best what the series would become. The kind of "cute pandemonium" with such simple resolutions overlooked until the last couple panels.

I have to say, the forces that guide this forum truely do have excellent tastes in manga and anime. I just followed a link to all that is Haibane Renmei about a week ago and haven't looked back since!

fireball87 Sep 15, 2006 06:36 PM

I may say this is the best yotsubato topic i've ever seen, i've been following this manga for a little while now and it is easily my favorite (i don't read alot of manga though)... Just want to say thanks for keeping this topic up to date though, as it seems pretty hard to find the current fan translators who are few and far between (plus the image album was nice too ^^).

Overall i just joined the forum to say that, other then finding this when doing a yotsubato search again (and checking it for updates every once in awhile), i really don't have time for more forums :P.

Dan!! Sep 17, 2006 12:56 AM

I've really enjoyed Yotsuba so far.
Just to let you know, there's a collection of everything on 4chan.biz. Chapters 34 and 35 aren't too good on there, though (from what I know). But you can get 1-37 + trytrytry together off megaupload here:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CJFMWGE0
And Azuma has his own worksafe image board on chiyochan.net, if anyone is particularly interested. It's a good way to keep up on the translations.
I'm quite annoyed by this URL/image rule.

Edit: there ya go

Muramasa007 Sep 19, 2006 08:30 PM

Yotsuba is great, I can't wait for the next chapter!

Skaijo Sep 22, 2006 10:20 AM

I'm reading over Azuma's diary entry as of the 17th of this month and it sounds like he's pretty confident that Yotsuba will be an anime in the future. There working on new music too.

FatsDomino Sep 22, 2006 10:50 AM

I hope they don't turn into an anime before he's done with the series though. Or at least they only do what they've given him for like a season. I'd hate for an incomplete series especially of such a gem as Yotsubato.

how would he finish off this series? it could go on for ages and Yotsuba could very well grow up during the timeline

i doubt it but it could happen
me on the other hand would love for yotsubato to become a anime soon
it could insanely have fillers and i wouldn't care cause its so cute and carefree

FatsDomino Sep 23, 2006 08:01 AM

I'm just saying I'd rather that they do a season at a time every year ala School Rumble, Genshiken, and Rozen Maiden than being impatient and fillering up the joint. If the show does indeed go on for years then having just one season each year that covers the events in the manga would be much better than having a show that doesn't know where to go because it's run out of origin material. In fact, a continuously released OVA series wouldn't be a bad idea for Yotsubato. That way when it's ready it's ready. I'm sure Azuma will be there to make sure it all works out.

Amayirot Akago Sep 23, 2006 12:03 PM

Fantastic to see so much love for Yotsuba here :D Myself being a huge Azumanga fan I inevitably came across Yotsuba and immediately got the three ADV volumes. Purchase of the year, I'd say :D Yotsuba is like a mix of Chiyo's cuteness, Osaka's brain and Tomo's boundless energy, creating a highly explosive and hilarious mix of cuteness ^_^

Can't wait for the next volumes. Hurry up ADV!

And I cannot put enough emphasis on how this should be made into an anime. The image album was a step in the right direction though; love the tunes on there. They fit the manga very well, plus I love the little sound effects they worked into the songs.

Any day that I stumble across a new Yotsubato chapter on #lurk is a good day. Chapter 40 really shows Azuma's ability as an artist. I was impressed by the visuals. Combine that with the awesome humor and you have a great chapter.

map car man words telling me to do things Sep 23, 2006 03:15 PM

That bridge scene was scary =o
Even though it was such a funny and sweet chapter all in all, the ending still made me ;___;
Poor Yotsuba-chan.

Either way, updating the first post again, thanks for the link as usual!

Scarletdeath Sep 23, 2006 07:31 PM

Oh snap, 40 is out! Downloading right now. Thanks for the update as usual coeccias! ^^
