It seems that Nagato has put up an escape program. (as of 12/21/06)

Spoiler:
It says something like this: "During the time that you are reading this, I am no longer myself. The appearance of this message means that you, me, Haruhi Suzumiya, Mikuru Asahina, and Itsuki Koizumi are supposed to exist in that time. That is the key. You have just found the solution.

"This is an emergency escape program. Pressing the enter key activates it, but if it does not, choose a different key. Should the program activate, you will receive a machine that will correct Time and Space. However, I cannot guarantee success. I also cannot guarantee repatriation.

"This program will only activate once. After execution, the program will be erased. Should it fail execution due to the wrong key, the program will be erased without activating. Ready?
"

Nagato's member page is still the same. The other members have pages as well, but they are completely blank, except for the kanji (鍵 [key]) in the title bar.

Double Post:
Also, the Japanese message in the http://asosbrigade.com/ source code has changed from "Classified information will be revealed on December 22" to "The North American Project has come into effect."

(note: The sentence could also say "The North American Project was effective.")

hikarub Dec 21, 2006 12:56 AM

That's pretty nifty. So they have been going along with what the novel's been getting up to, by handing out these nifty hints via the website and such? Cool way to keep people interested! :D

By the way...
Spoiler:
.....what did you press to get through the escape program? I just pressed <enter> but nothing happened. It says to choose another key but everything else doesn't work either.....what are you supposed to use?

Kesubei Dec 21, 2006 01:44 AM

Spoiler:
A friend of mine checked the source code, and saw that it didn't really matter which button you press.

hikarub Dec 21, 2006 10:02 AM

Oh well, the site's back up anyway. I also noticed that the bottom of the page under "DECEMBER 22, 2006" on the asosbrigade website is now in English instead of the previous Japanese.

:D

Summary: It's Bandai.

O.M.G. SO AWESOME

CLOudkiller Jan 28, 2007 12:25 AM

Yeah, I freaked out the first time I saw that as well. Though they did cut out the part where kyon's two friends and Tsuruya were dancing as well.

Summonmaster Jan 28, 2007 01:05 AM

I was just informed yesterday night that this was out, and it's now our club's mandate to perform the full version dance one day xD. I wish by full dance version they really meant the full version song as well. That would be absolutely beautiful.

hikarub Jan 28, 2007 09:59 AM

That was so cool! Totally awesome, I am so impressed that they took the time to make a full dance version of the ending. All the extra dance steps and song just blew me away. I just love it.

Hope the 2nd season is really coming. And coming soon!

:D

Ah... it looks so cute~

Can't wait for Suzumiya Haruhi 2

PS: Wow I posted...

chato Feb 9, 2007 06:10 PM

ANN gives us the dub cast for the series

Haruhi Suzumiya - Wendee Lee
Mikuru Asahina - Stephanie Sheh
Yuki Nagato - Michelle Ruff
Kyon - Crispin Freeman : Awesome.
Itsuki Koizumi - Johnny Yong Bosch - I knew it was coming ;p
Ryouko Asakura - Bridget Hoffman
Tsuruya-san - Kari Wahlgren

Well it looks like that dub company has pulled another one. Great Job.

FatsDomino Feb 9, 2007 06:52 PM

Oh god. Wendee Lee better not fucking screw this up. She seriously can make or break an anime when she's given a big role like this.

I absolutely have to get this now that Crispin Freeman is Kyon. It would be pretty sweet if they brought Kanon 2006 over and had him play Yuuichi as well. =)

The skits on http://www.asosbrigade.com/ that bangzoom put up are horrendous.

She breaks more often than she makes, in my opinion. It's a quality she has in common with a thankfully small minority of other female VAs in that she sucks all the energy and emotion out of the roles that she performs.

There are so many better American female candidates that I'm astounded she gets any parts at all. The rest of the cast looks nice, though. I can't complain about anyone but Haruhi herself.

FatsDomino Feb 9, 2007 11:48 PM

And good god never ever under any circumstance allow her to do ADR. Love Hina, you poor, poor thing. :(

hikarub Feb 24, 2007 12:42 AM

What's up with the ASOS Brigade site? There's something about an invasion hidden in the middle of the page on the right-hand side (you need to press CTRL-A to see a few hidden messages as well). Before, the message mentioned waiting 111 days, then a few days later changed to 11 days and now it reads 1 day. What's gonna happen?

ASOS Brigade

:eye:

EDIT: It's happening today, whatever it is...... looks like there'll be another video or something too......

:erm:

Kairi Li Mar 20, 2007 05:49 AM

Just marathoned the series on youtube, and I gotta say, so far, just so far, Lee's voice isn't working for me, its not horrible, but it sounds a bit off to me.

And to people who want to know info on the North American Suzumiya DVDs, check it out.

Quoted from animeOnline.com:
Other details: All DVDs will contain various extras, such as the ASOS Brigade videos and the extended "Hare Hare Yukai" dance video. The songs Haruhi sings in episode 12 will be in the original Japanese. Keep an ear out over the next two to three months for information on the novels and/or manga. There are many other character CDs for Haruhi in Japan, including some for characters who don’t even have proper names (lookin’ at you, “Kyon’s Little Sister”),and these CDs will also be released.

Last but not least: there will be a "Hare Hare Yukai" dance competition at Anime Expo this year, so practice your moves!
Important note on the order of episodes

Fans should know that there are two orders of the episodes, chronological order and the Broadcast order.

The North American collector DVD sets above will have 2 DVDs (cept the first set because those episodes are the same in both orders.) One DVD will be in the CHORONOLOGICAL order and will come with the English Dub.

The second BONUS DVD will have it in the original broadcast order, HOWEVER this DVD will only have Japanese language and subs.

The regular edition of the DVDs, the version without all the goodies, will ONLY be in the CHRONOLOGICAL order, and of course have the English dub.

Meaning if you wanna watch in English but in the original Broadcast Kyon Order, you will need to buy the collector's edition and swap disks around, which will be a pain.

Further info on the regular and collector's edition orders can be found here, in case you are confused and need further visualisation.

Amazon is selling the first DVD set at a great price of $45!

http://www.amazon.com/Melancholy-Har.../dp/B000NVT0PM

As for me, I'm getting the Collector's version of all the DVDs, I may be a fresh new fan, but hot damn this series is awesome.

Taco Mar 20, 2007 06:23 AM

Wow, they're actually releasing all of the character singles over here in the states, I'm impressed. All of the extras look pretty neat, and being the consumer whore I am I'll probably get all of the special editions. It's pretty awesome that Amazon has them for a pretty reasonable price, too.

Very glad I went to Anime Expo LAST year, though. I don't think I'd want to be around for that dance contest.

Kairi Li Mar 20, 2007 06:25 AM

Why? If the fans can pull off that dance from the special ending song video it can actully look pretty cool. It doesn't look easy to me from the video I saw off youtube.

FatsDomino Mar 20, 2007 11:36 AM

They better be pumping out as much fucking quality as they can onto those dvds for the price they're asking. I'm really not sure if I'm a big fan of special edition sets. Also, I don't enjoy the fact that viewers will be seeing the show chronologically first. The way they did it broadcasted I feel is how you should watch it first and then a rewatch chronologically. I'll see how I feel after buying it all. God, my wallet. :(

Kairi Li Mar 21, 2007 09:53 AM

Its not an issue of localisation forcing new fans to watch in the chronological order, its the issue that the Japanese execs wanted all DVDs to remain in chronological order. The localisation people did fans a favor by getting the original broadcast order along with the episode previews as extra features.

They explained it all here: http://asosbrigade.com/oplet01/

So blame it on the Japanese execs who don't understand the brilliance of the broadcast order.

Well, there have been several videos done of such a thing, the success of which you'll have to be the judge of :tpg: The third clip is a compilation of various attempts.

Still waiting on that English Hare Hare Yukai though.

Kairi Li Mar 25, 2007 12:02 PM

English? You mean a fandub of the song or officially? cause I believe the songs are gonna be in Japanese for the NA DVD releases.

FatsDomino Mar 25, 2007 03:06 PM

I think he's probably looking for an all English-speaking dance cast that would more than likely appear in the contest. So basically all American, Canadian, and/or British or something. Those videos were mostly Japanese. I'm not saying no Asians in the contest but it was pretty obvious in those videos most of the people were from Japan.

Dark Nation Mar 28, 2007 07:46 AM

Well actually what I meant was I want to see how Bandai handles the English version of the OP/EDs.
Meaning the official (not fandub) version of the song as sung in english by the cast/singers hired for that part.

Although I wouldn't mind seeing what the fans come up with in the contest entries, I had already heard
a fandub of Hare Hare Yuaki through Youbube thus which is why I was all :gonk:
