No, they stopped that at like the end of January.

russ Apr 30, 2006 11:38 PM

Not when your couch is really far from your tv/entertainment center/consoles. Unless you like having a dozen controller cables stretched across your living room.

Tube Apr 30, 2006 11:50 PM

I didn't even care about wireless controllers until I started playing with one. It's awesome to go to the kitchen to get food or something while I'm still pressing buttons for some reason.

Grundlefield Earth May 1, 2006 03:11 PM

Wireless controllers overrated? HA you got to be kidding me. The only people who say this are the ones who have not or arent using one.

And Tube, it is awesome going down to the kitchen or two floors and still hitting up voice chat while just carrying the controller. I don't know about just pressing buttons though.

Tube May 1, 2006 03:55 PM

I'm not huge on voice chat, but sometimes I do just put the controller in my pocket and go to some other room while still listening/talking to the conversation. Like one of those hip hands-free cell phone deal-i-os.

Kinda a bit off topic here but is there any way to create a custom icon for my 360 profile or am I just limited to the ones available on Live? :eyebrow:

Tube May 2, 2006 12:39 AM

Nope. Although it's rumored that the 360 cam will let you use custom pictures, including wangs.

Newbie1234 May 2, 2006 01:24 PM

It's about time we get custom icons, as I hate being limited to stock, or worst, paying for more stock.

Kaleb.G May 2, 2006 01:43 PM

If they do implement custom icons, I'd prefer for them to just allow you to set them from images on your computer via Media Connect. I need my KG logo on there.

Megalith May 2, 2006 02:21 PM

Who's the idiot that is making an encryption notification pop up from an .edu domain whenever I access this page.

I also don't understand what the problem is with custom avatars. Microsoft could simply warn users that if they put nudity/offensive stuff in their avatar, they will instantly get banned from the service.

I doubt M$FT will want to waste the time and energy monitoring the few thousand Xbox Live gamers. :eyebrow: But it was indeed a stupid move, I couldn't believe the stuff they try to pass off as icons and having to pay an additional amount for themes/icons or whatever.

Tube May 3, 2006 11:24 PM

Why was that dude's post deleted that was making fun of the guy for saying "M$FT".

It was totally deserved.

DAMN COMPANIES SELLING OUT AND TRYING TO GET PROFIT AND STUFF

FatsDomino May 4, 2006 11:00 PM

Sounds like a plan! Give me a holler if there is such a violation and I'll ban them from this thread. =)

Solis May 9, 2006 06:35 PM

Well, since the conference thread kinda died off anyway, might as well post here.

OK, that's enough for me, even a screenshot whore like myself has limits.

Shin ninja edit: In light of the new rules regarding stupidly large images, I've URL'd the pictures here.

Kilroy May 10, 2006 04:24 AM

Nice to see the shiny plastic look has somewhat disappeared from Mass Effect... And nice star wars-eque alien. Very exciting screenies!

Chairman Kaga May 10, 2006 06:40 AM

I really like the artistic style of Viva Pinata. Beautiful eye feast!

I know you posted this before the new picture rules so I've editted your post so the pics are now URLs. In future though, please stick to thumbnails and links for images that big.

Microsoft recently announced that it will be releasing downloadable games in the middle of the week as part of its Xbox Live Arcade Wednesdays program. The company revealed the first five games on the promo's schedule but didn't venture beyond that, ending with Pac-Man on August 9.

Now it appears that a fortnight after gamers are gobbling up ghosts and feeding on power pellets they'll be gambling on inside straights and reading players' tells. On Xbox.com, the product page for Texas Hold 'Em shows a release date of August 23, a date that has been confirmed for GameSpot by a Microsoft rep.

Gamers won't be able to play for money, but that shouldn't bother too many because the game itself is free, making it the second free game for the Xbox 360 after Hexic HD (available gratis on the optional 20GB hard drive). Card sharks will be able to play standard games, tournaments, and various scenarios, as well as create their own poker variants for up to eight players.
That made me think. Would Xbox Live actually gain or lose something, if you could win "money" in games? As I see it, games could get a whole new competition element, with betting and so.

Anyways, now I get the oportunity to try out this "poker" thing...

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jul 20, 2006 12:27 PM

Wagering money is a bad idea. There really is nothing else that needs to be said about that, but I just can't see it working out for the best.

However, if they held tournaments and the winner got something like 1000 MSP or whatnot that wouldn't be too bad.

Anyway, poker kind of loses all it's fun when you can't read the other persons's facial expressions. The entire point is how well you can bluff.

T1249NTSCJ Aug 19, 2006 11:46 AM

Since this is a 360 discussion, how about recommending some titles worth a purchase. I'm pretty close to getting my hands on COD2 for $30 at most brand new from a buddy of mine and well what else is there worth playing? One can only play Uno for so long. :)
