He might've fallen on purpose and faked being unconscious, in order to let the timer reach the critical point. I'm willing to bet he deliberately let the timer go down, or he inputted a different sequence, like someone else said.

About going back for Locke, I wouldn't say it's because he actually wanted to help him, rather like with the other....Others, he was trying to establish trust among the group so he could settle in and monitor them.

Spoiler:
Within that hueg clusterfuck of the fan deciphered lite bright wall, I'm wondering if the dates at the bottom aren't a big giveaway.

"4.08.00. 8.15.01 01.06.06
Complete Shutdown in Effect"

It's not a certainty, but very likely I think that the January 6th, 2006 shutdown pinpoints the timeframe of events, putting an end to any theories of significant time passing from the present. The last people on Earth after doomsday five years from now theories floating around can end now.

I'm wondering if Locke will tell the others about the blast door or he'll keep it to himself like the hieroglyphics on the timer.

did somebody else notice the silver Mercedes on the hotel parking site? Did the two guys follow John or her girlfriend? What happened? Nobody knows...
That's Locke's dad's car. It has the same license as the scene where Locke first saw his dad after the funeral. I'm guessing he doesn't want to be tracked down by it or doesn't need it anymore since he just became one rich mofo.

I like how the American version is all about Hurley and his going insane, but the Canadian version is all like "O, THE GUY WITH THE BEARD? He ain't no thang."

HELLO. I am more interested in the bearded dude than my lovely little Hurley. We already KNOW Hurley is nuts. ;_;

Eleo Mar 30, 2006 10:27 PM

The magazine map describes cerberus as possibly the monster (but it only got one head) and describes its current state as a product of "The Incident of 1985". I'm wondering if this was "the" incident. But I don't know how communicating with Walt is going to lead to problems with it. As you can tell, I'm obsessed with the monster.

I wonder why fatalities are listed by where the ration drop is supposed to be. I mean damn, were people sleeping there.

Also wondering why their are stations drawn in that octagonal area, yet there are other facilities listed outside of that area completely (or previous but abandoned facilities.)

Sepharite Mar 30, 2006 10:34 PM

Maybe it was originally three heads, three processors - balancing eachother. But somehow, they got seperated - two (evil/good) flying around and the last one (the brain?) is in the centre?

Excuse my ignorance, but are they in the Swan? ._.

edit: CV - Cerberus Virus?

JazzFlight Mar 30, 2006 10:52 PM

That magazine says "AH" is Alvar Hanso, which makes sense. Then it questions what MDG is. M. DeGroot, anyone?

makura Mar 30, 2006 11:44 PM

Yeah, they're all in The Swan now. The Staff is the hospital place where Claire was kidnapped to (now abandoned.) The Arrow is the place that the TailEnders found.

If they've been to The Staff, that means the girls passed by The Flame or something. I wonder if that place is abandoned like most of the other hatches.

Eleo Mar 30, 2006 11:56 PM

I like how dumb I've been at figuring out the acronyms. I couldn't even figure out AH, and now that JazzFlight mentions DeGroot, I feel even dumber. I forget who DeGroot is supposed to be, though, but I remember his name being significant.

CV could equal Cerberus something, dunno if it means virus as I wouldn't think a virus is a location. I wonder if it is being referenced when "Hic sunt dracones" appears; which means "here be dragons".

Cerberus is a cool name. I tried to do research wondering if any variation of its myth said something about each head having a specific function. Didn't see anything along those lines.

Seconded. I don't have a clue what names he's referring to. Good thing I have the Season 1 Boxset. I need to start watching it more.

makura Mar 31, 2006 01:08 AM

DeGroot is the name of the husband/wife hippie team of scientists who created the Dharma Initiative. (Why do they need to add some creepy music to their Orientation Films?)

Has anyone heard of any word on how many seasons this series will last?

Eleo Mar 31, 2006 01:28 AM

Supposedly five. I thought this might be too many, but since the mystery keeps getting wider, maybe it's just enough. As long as seasons 3-5 aren't as drawn out as this one, it will be fine. Let's not forget how most of season 2 has been filler with sporadic awesome episodes that draw back all who are frustrated with the lack of movement.

Don't know what they're going to do for flashbacks. I like how the flashbacks are no longer immediately relevant to the characters anymore, they're just there. This became very apparent in this past episode.

Soldier Mar 31, 2006 01:30 AM

I'm hoping that by the end of Season 2, the Hatch will either explode, or shuts out anyone from entering. The characters are having it far easier than I'd like with the indoor plumbing, boxed food, and soft beds. I like my island inhabitants smelly and unkempt.

Wall Feces Mar 31, 2006 01:34 AM

My prediction? By the end of Season 2, they figure out a way to trigger something in the hatch that sends out a huge EMP and sends another plane crashing down into the island.

DUN DUN DUNNNNN

Eleo Mar 31, 2006 01:39 AM

My prediction... I don't have one.

There was one rather intelligent theory I read on another forum that predicted that next season will skip ahead by a year, the reasons being that Walt's actor has reached a growth spurt and his height can't otherwise be explained (if they try to explain it with sci-fi, I will punch someone). Also, Sun's pregnancy will be pointless to the plot if this doesn't happen; if each episode is approximately, then she'll never have her baby in five seasons.

Wall Feces Mar 31, 2006 01:57 AM

Maybe The Others gave him some height-increasing drug injection.

Eleo Mar 31, 2006 02:08 AM

Maybe that would be retarded :(

Majin yami Mar 31, 2006 12:42 PM

Am I the only person who thinks Season two has been better than season one?

rockthepartay Mar 31, 2006 02:17 PM

You are not alone. Apparently, we are in the minority though.

There have been just as many "Holy shit" moments in Season 2 as there were in Season 1.

There's exactly fifteen of you, maybe sixteen. As with Walt, maybe they can just bring him back with sci-fi or something. It made the ending of last season's The 4400 all weird out when the baby suddenly appeared as an all-grown up porn star.

kupomog Mar 31, 2006 11:38 PM

Ahh...

Hey...

I doubt any of you remember this but awhile back in the old Lost thread, I made a post about how I saw the crew filming the Mr. Cluck's Chicken Shack scenes at a Popeye's here and I posted some pics of it.

Well, something in the screen of Locke's dad's car made me remember something. I went to look at my pics that I took of Hurley and DJ Qualls waiting to film a scene.

And um, well I dunno if it actually means anything significant towards the show's plot, for all I know it could just be some prop that's not meant to be looked at because those obviously aren't the same cars, but look at the license plates?

Majin yami Apr 2, 2006 03:11 AM

Here's a more detailed picture of the map with translations of the Latin:

Eleo Apr 2, 2006 03:46 AM

I recently found that 'here be dragons' is a phrase used to note that one does not know what is in that area. Previously I thought it had greater meaning, but it's just a figure of speech. To those who didn't know. I know I've seen one translated map that had the phrase shown as, "There are dragons here". Which is kind of like translating "holy shit!" to "shit of God!"

"Shit of God". I think I'm going to start saying that a lot.

Preemptive episode spoiler:
Spoiler:
Are you sure you want to proceed?
Spoiler:
Really?
Spoiler:
Okay
Spoiler:

Lets call this the great Dave debate. This episode will be the one we’ll be talking about for a long time to come. For some reason I didn’t notice the “previously on lost” at the beginning but in any case here we go.

Hurley and Libby jogging on beach
Talks about how out of shape he is
He confesses and shows her his secret stash.
She convinces him to change and he decides to get rid of it.
Now finds out there was a food drop
He sees Dave

He supposedly met Dave at the mental institution.
He was placed there by his mother due to “the accident”
Later we find out the accident put Hurley into a state of depression where he wouldn’t talk or do anything for a couple of months.

Hurley apparently was at a party of sorts and went out on the deck
This deck had been built for 8 people but had 23 on it
Hurley being the last one to go on it blames himself for the collapse of the deck and feels responsible for the two deaths that occurred.

He chases Dave on the island and falls before he can catch him.
Finds Daves’ slipper
Thinks he’s going crazy for seeing him
Goes to Sawyer for some meds he used to take
(Funny scene)
At the beach Hurley runs away to go live in the caves and stumbles upon food
And then Dave shows up
Hurley says “you’re not really here” Dave then beams him with a coconut which hurts him.

At the mental Inst.

Hurleys’ doc tells him Dave is being a bad influence on him and he shouldn’t follow Dave.
Dave doesn’t want Hurley to take the pills he was given.
Dave doesn’t want Hurley to change he likes Hurley just the way he is.
Doc takes a pic of them for bulletin board (look at the polaroid camera it has a label on the front of it, it could be something.)

Later shows it to Hurley and Dave is not in the pic.
Doc tells Hurley, Dave is just an imaginary friend who likes him.
Hurley is awoken at night by Dave
Hurley tells him about the picture Dave says it must have been photo shopped at Kinkos
He wants Hurley to escape with him to get cheeseburgers.
Hurley apparently stole the keys from the Doc

Dave goes out the caged window and Hurley locks it up and stays inside telling Dave to go away.

On the Island
Dave and Hurley have a talk about what’s going on
Dave acknowledges to Hurley that he is a figment of his imagination but also tells Hurley that after that night. You went into a deeper depression and your trapped in your subconscious.

You won the lotto using the numbers
You saw Ernie (the psych ward numbers guy) in the hatch (I don’t remember that but that’s what he said)
You’ve been on an island for two months and you haven’t lost any weight
You created a beautiful blonde who’s falling for you
Your still at the mental institution

Dave tells him the only way to get back is to jump off the cliff and he will wake up

Hurley believes him especially after Dave himself jumps off and plummets down.

Just them Libby shows up
Hurley suspicious now thinks he’s still making her up “remember I said you looked familiar its because I made you up.”
Libby tries to prove she’s real when she asks Hurley about the man who broke his leg on the other side of the island.

Libby -- “What was his name?”

Hurley -- “I don’t know”

Libby -- “His name was Robert, I buried him Hurley” “I buried a lot of people” ”Your didn’t know that because it happened to me” “Stop saying you made me up it’s insulting”

She and Hurley kiss and he returns to camp with her.

Flashback
Different angle of Doc taking Polaroid at the Mental institution. It shows Hurley putting his arm around an imaginary person in a chair and when they pan around a nurse is giving another patient their meds.

The other mental patient is LIBBY.

As for our friend Henry Gale,

He’s tied up and makes up another story about being part of the search party for the real Henry and he was already dead with a broken neck in the basket when he found him.
Sayid had also found a letter from the real Henry written on the back of a bill to his wife Jennifer. “How could he write if he was dead?” Sayid about to kill him when Anna moves his arm and Sayid nearly misses Henry. Henry says the guy with the beard is nothing.

Later Locke wants to talk one on one with him and still wants to know his real name.

(not verbatim)

Henry - Just call me Henry I’ve gotten used to it.
Locke - God only knows how you got caught being one of them.
Henry - God doesn’t know anything about this place he can’t see this place.
Locke – Were you trying to find this place.
Henry – This? This is nothing when I crawled through the vents to the computer and it
was counting down the timer reached zero. Red symbols that look like hyroglyphics came up I don’t know I’m no expert but then there was a noise like a magnet and generators, it was scary end then all of a sudden the numbers flipped back to 108. I never typed in the numbers. I didn’t do anything.
Locke – Your lying.
