I hear actually playing the game might be a good way to generate interest.
Seriously, when this pack hits, I'm all for getting back into it. I've not really taken Gears 2 online at all aside from the occasional round of Horde. On that note, I've not actually played anything with you lot yet |

Therein lies the problem. A lot of people have already thrown in the towel since it took them about oh, five months to fix all of the rampant problems in the game? Stanbying, people quitting mid-match, various weapon glitches and horrible map balancing. It's no small wonder that this thread has been so dead. I've been playing the game since launch still but this is because I am: a) a masochist b) significantly better than most of the gears playerbase So all the rampant bullshit hasn't affected me too terribly, but I can understand why everyone else called it quits. Why play a game that the developers obviously didn't bother testing enough prior to release? I'd be more than happy if everyone picked it back up, but come on. Also Edit: While I am glad they are indeed bringing over WM, it hardly counts as a new map. EPIC. |
Let's just switch back to the first Gears since we all just want to play on the old {read: good} maps anyway.
|
Gah, I just bought this game because I actually wanted to play with some people.
Hopefully some people are still up for it. |
Yeah you might be on your own on that one. Eleo and I still play but uhhh... that's about it. Everyone is on L4D these days.
I think Joe Bloggs plays it too, I've seen him on occasion. |
Oh well, this is what I got people on the Backloggery for, but no biggie.
Ironically, I've never played the first one despite owning the second one. I'm trying to see if I could borrow it off a friend so I could just see what the whole story is about and stuff. |
Guy is in prison, guy leaves prison, bugs attack earth, guy kills bugs, guy meets other guys, guys collectively kill bugs, guys cross city at night despite the presence of insta-death bats in the shadowy areas and nobody having thought to bring a flashlight, guys visit a powerstation, brief detour for no discernable reason to guy's house, bugs are found living in big cave, guys try to set off a mapping bomb thing in cave, guys manage it, bugs attack train, guys kill bugs on train, the end with ominous shots of more bugs.
Shakespeare it ain't but that's pretty much the gist of it. I might have got some things in the wrong order though as I only played through it once. |
No, they had to go to Marcus' house to pick up his jacket. It gets cold during snow levels of sequels you know.
|
Actually the detour was because they ran out of that purple drank and Cole wasn't going any further until they got some more.
Obviously all the remaining DRANK on Sera was at the mansion. Act 4: Ima Grip and Sip |
So the Dark Corners map pack and additional Road to Ruin stuff is out tomorrow on the Marketplace, any one planning to grab it all for 1600?
|
Eh, I only grabbed the Dark Corners portion, since I already had the first 3 map packs. Gotta say, the deleted campaign scene was kinda short, even when played both ways.
As far as the maps go: Well... not much to say, other than Nowhere's a bum of a map, and making THAT the map to get through waves 1-50 for an achievement was pretty damn stupid. The other maps are pretty sweet and better thought out. But anyway, if anyone's ever up for Horde on the new maps, gimme a notice. I'm always up for some co-operative play. |

Sim, I'll try linking up with you for some Horde co-op when I can. You usually come on when I'm about to head off :p |
Guys, is "road to ruin" worth buying? I'm in two minds about'em...
