Look, you either buy it regardless of Revo features, or you don't. If you don't, you can wait another 3 years for the next Zelda.

I'd rather get it regardless of TP having TP features. And if the launch of Revo is weak, hell TP would be a bonus. Nicely, that.

i just hope this doesn't indicate that the launch is weak! "hey, our launch sucks. let's help it out by making zelda compatible!"

i would say, "nintendo would never do that!" ..... but the gamecube's launch wasn't exactly good either :) i hope they release a good game other than zelda as well.

I was being sarcastic here, silly.

Do it again, and you're getting a formal warning.

RABicle Mar 17, 2006 12:35 PM

Which I did. But hey you pressed control v 90 times, I'd feel dirty if you gave me your pity.

But you don't need to bring pure stupidity here with the intentions of being an ass. Fair trade. Lets have a truce.

New Twilight topic!

Boss Fights

They mentioned making things more difficult. Do you think they'll just "have more HP" or require difficult attack combos or what? I'm intrigued to know what they're doing to make these more of a challenge.

In my ideal world, the game makers sat down and played Shadow of the Colossus, and said to themselves "Hey, we should do something like this."

I just want something to live up to the term "Zelda boss fight". I really enjoyed the bosses in Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker (GASP). Long as they don't make them too short or easy, I'll be perfectly pleased.

Zelda games just need a fascinating world you want to explore and inventive ways to explore them (and I don't just mean travel).

HostileCreation Mar 17, 2006 03:13 PM

The forest dungeon boss, the one boss they showed, looks very complicated for a first boss, and pretty fun. I suspect they'll only get harder and more complex (like any Zelda game), so I think I'll be satisfied.
I love Zelda boss fights, and have no doubts that they'll be good in this game.

RushJet1 Mar 17, 2006 04:19 PM

harder boss fights:

1. they must do more damage. the bosses in wind waker did minimal damage with huge attacks, hell, i could fall 10034209822 meters in wind waker and only have a quarter of a heart taken off. i'm pretty sure i beat ganondorf with like 5 or 6 hearts, max as well- too weak.

2. smarter bosses. they need not to just go on a certain pattern, but try to guard the pattern when players get smart enough to kill them.

3. bosses that require skill. most bosses just require you to figure out how to kill them, but i want a boss that, when you figure out how to kill it, makes you go "oh shit, that's hard!" something that you can't lock on to or something that is really hard to hit.

4. bosses should scale with link. in wind waker, all bosses at the end were piss-easy since they all were fought when you had a weaker sword.

5. read if you've beaten wind waker-

Spoiler:
better final bosses. the final boss in ww was a setup basically-- it was too easy. you wait until zelda hits him, then hit him with your sword, etc, then you wait eventually until you can parry and it kills him for you. too easy. they should have made you work for it.

Lukage Mar 17, 2006 05:25 PM

As long as there is no Water Temple.

Am I rite? Huh? Huh?!

I enjoyed the WW bosses. As long as the dungens aren't linear, I'm happy (eg: boomerang to open something in a temple to get the hookshot to get to the boss, etc.)

KnowsNothing Mar 17, 2006 08:20 PM

In Wind Waker, I like to think of Puppet Ganon as the final boss, because that boss actually IS difficult. The real final boss was pretty easy, but that fight was just so damn cool it makes up for it. I view the real final boss as part of the ending sequence after beating Puppet Ganon, and it's like the coolest ending to a game ever.

Sorta like Ganondorf/Ganon in OoT. I still think of Ganondorf as the final boss, and Ganon and the escape as the denoument of sorts- it's just the part of the story that comes after the climax.

chaofan Mar 17, 2006 11:44 PM

IMO OoT's bosses were extremely well done. But I would like to see more outright fights (fights against staflos etc, Majora's Mask forest boss). Puppet Ganon was cool. WW bosses were forced, I reckon.

RushJet1 Mar 18, 2006 12:48 AM

yeah i pretty much hated the earth temple boss.

"oh noes a huge .. ghost.."

the music didn't help, making it sound like a demented merry-go-round.

though i enjoyed the music for the wind temple boss a lot, as well as the boss itself.

HostileCreation Mar 18, 2006 01:24 AM

I loved Wind Waker bosses, and I especially loved the ghost boss.
Though it was obviously inspired by Luigi's Mansion. I loved the style of the poes in Wind Waker.

The fight against Odolwa was quite possibly my favourite boss battle in any game. That or the virus boss in OoT (Baronaid or something). Those bosses are the kind that even after you figure out how to beat them, it's hard to do. They always keep me on my toes, even today. But a boss like the WW forest boss? please, Worst boss battle, ever.

I'm holding out for really epic boss battles. Boss battles that will keep me occupied for half and hour straight (k, maybe that's a little much) Bosses that change their strategy after a while so i have to refine mine. I know this is just wishful thinking, but i can always dream.

The_Griffin Mar 19, 2006 06:38 PM

Baronade is definitely my favorite part of the entire game. That battle... it's just wow. It just flows so smoothly. It's definitely on my top 5 list of greatest boss battles EVER.

J-Man Mar 20, 2006 12:59 AM

I liked the Majoras Incarnation, the second form of Majora's Mask. I loved how it would run around madly and make chicken noises while doing what kinda looked like russian dancing. :edgartpg:

The_Griffin Mar 20, 2006 01:12 AM

After hearing that, I must now pull out my N64 and holographic Majora's Mask cart, load up the old save file, and beat the game again. Oh, and pray that it doesn't overheat and freeze on the Kafei/Anju quest, where you've done EVERYTHING BUT WAITING FOR KAFEI TO SHOW UP AT THE END!

That pissed me off so much... I had like maybe 3 hours to go game time before he showed up, and all of a sudden, the game plays a sound effect of birds flying off. I'm like "WTF?" and all of a sudden, part of the warp animation shows up on the screen and the game freezes. IT WAS THE LAST FUCKING MASK BEFORE I HAD EVERY ONE TOO!

Try here. Start of paragraph 32.

Wishful thinking, maybe...

Wrong. Sorry, but the OoT may be long and tideous, but it's classic none the less, and MM's water temple was perfect for me. Especially the swimming in the Zora form.

That temple took me forever and then some. I think I saw the Gamecube release of Wind Waker finished before that temple. It was indeed a challenge, but god...damn.
