I'm gonna be sad if Jill dies. I'm currently playing all the RE games so I'm ready for 5. I just beat RE0, RE1 for gamecube, RE1 for PSX, and RE2. I just started three. I'm gonna play Code Veronica X, then # 4.
This RE5 trailer is sick. Gametrailers.com - Resident Evil 5 - TGS 08: Alternate Trailer (Cam) |
woah! I like the RE series but I never really been a big fan, mainly because for some reason that I don't know, I really really suck at them lol so I never finished one game.
My friend is really a big fan, so I watched her a lot play the game, but this trailer just totally sold the game for me. It might even be a day 1 purchase even though I know I'll have trouble playing it lol |
Regarding Jill being possibly alive due to Wesker etc etc theory that some people have? Well the PS3 trophy list for RE5 is up, and one of them caught my eye.
SPOILERS in trophy list and the spoiler tag below! Spoiler:
Full Trophy list: Resident Evil 5 trophy list! - PS3 Trophies Forum Thoughts? MAJOR EDIT: Just found this. This gamefaqs post confirms Jill's status in the game. It contains a full list of hacked info from the demo, including full list of weapons, items, enemies and bosses. full list All Weapons , All Characters , All Enemies, etc. (Dangerous Spoilers) - Resident Evil 5 Message Board for Xbox 360 - GameFAQs In case it gets deleted cause Capcom said so, here's the spoilers regarding Jill. And regarding Sherry: Spoiler:
Here's a copy of the full list in case the gamefaqs topic disappears. Spoiler:

For all its worth Jill could be alive, and that Chris, upon hearing the destruction of Raccoon by a nuke, presumes Jill dead.
Because you know these types of shenanigans gets pulled up all the time. |

Either way, can't wait - the plot looks ace so far and I'm totally digging the soundtrack (the track here at 1:59, for example). |
wow seriously am I the only thinking that the graphics of RE5 are almost better than the movie? (degeneration)
Capcom surely improved in that department, some facial expression of Sheva was really stunning. |

Umbrella Chronicles debunks that theory of yours, since Jill and Chris found each other and then, with a large team of people, infiltrated a Umbrella Base and took them down at the end of that game. That event took place way after RE3. They then both join the BSAA, hence why the group name is on her gravestone. She must have "died" in one of the missions. Quote:

For those who wanted to see the TGS trailer on their PS3 it's available for download on the JPSN. Not sure how long it's been on there for, but it's definitely recently since it never came up during TGS.
Oh, and NECA is releasing RE5 figures. No surprise considering they made figures for RE4 and did a RE10th Anniversary line. I'd say the RE5 line is looking to be the best in the series, although Sheva looks kinda weird (something up with the face), especially now that they've finally added some articulation to the legs (elbow, torso, hip and knee joints). From what I can tell the articulation will be on par to NECA's TMNT line or Dom from their Gears of War line. Check out the end of this interview with Randy Falk to get a glimpse of an unpainted prototype Chris with the new articulation in motion. Is it just me or does this game seem to be looking more like a Metal Gear Solid type game instead of Resident Evil? Don't get me wrong, its a good formula but its just not Resident Evil's. From the trailer it seems as if we get cut scenes showing the antagonists together plotting and planning. Has there ever been in a Resident Evil game...scenes that took place that wasnt around the character you were playing?
Spoilers about certain former STARS member... Spoiler:

RE4 had a couple of scenes like that, namely the ones where Saddler sends Krauser out after Leon and where Krauser is talking to Ada.
|
Yeah I forgot about those, it's been a while since I played it. I guess it makes sense, RE4 was kind of a change in direction from the original RE formula. It was one of the rare instances where the change helped the series. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy RE 1-3 and CVX.

Have they announced what will be in the North American collectors edition of RE5? I know Japan is getting the art book and USB thumb drive. Gamestop is giving some shitty art cell. I'm guessing the collectors edition will come with an additional DVD containing previous trailers which they could just fit it in the blu-ray disc for the PS3 version.
|
Whatever it is, it needs to be worth the $90 Gamestop is touting. I talked myself out of getting the SF IV Collector's Edition after seeing this, but an art cell is NOT worth the extra $30 imho.
|
Well I hope they announce what's going to be in the collectors edition besides a damn DVD and tin case which will get dented easily.
I also need to play the other RE games before 5 comes out. The only one I've beaten is RE4. I like the games but all the ones before 4 have horrible controls that stop me from continuing the game. |
The demo is coming to the West in the next couple of weeks:

Hmm, I wonder what the delay is for? I mean, I'm guessing it'll be as simple as "We wanted to treat our Japanese audience to it before you western heathens" but either way, I'm hoping for the possibility of an added scenario since I played the shit out of the Japanese demo.

Gamestop posted the Collector's edition goodies for RE 5:
The Resident Evil 5 Collector's Edition comes with: * Chris Redfield Figurine * Tricell Messenger Bag * BSAA Patch * Kijuju Keychain * Bonus Disc * The game and bonus disc come packed in a Special Collector's Steel Book Case. http://www.ebgames.com/gs/images/bon...01_bonusLG.jpg $89.99. I'm probably sold on this. |
Ahh, dagget beat me to it. Nice extras there, I like the Bag and Shoulder patch the most.
I haven't kept up with the thread, what's in the bonus disc? Also, this is only tangently related, but I came across something that Resident Evil fans might be interested in. The Umbrella Umbrella: http://www.thinkgeek.com/homeoffice/gear/b4e7/ |
Damn, that CE looks sweet. If we had this over here I'd actually be laying down an order. Since all we get is a steelbook and DVD for an extra £15, they can take a running jump.
|
How nice, the collectors edition comes with a manual.
I don't know if I want to get the collectors edition or not. The Bonus disc is probably just a DVD and not even a blu-ray disc. I might end up getting it since I won that kijuju spamming contest Capcom has where the top 100 sharers get their names printed in the manual and I got first place. It seems the contest is still going on with the latest videos but w/e I got first place spamming the first video. So instead of just getting the regular edition I might as well get the collectors edition and get the extra goodies which don't really interest me other than the steel case and the kijuju necklace. |
Yea, I'm with Dagobert on this. The CE looks nice, though content-wise there's nothing there that I'm dying to have. I'd probably never use the Tricell messenger bag, BSAA patch, or Kijuju necklace/keychain (they say it's one thing, but looks like another). The bonus disc contains some short 20 minute making of featurette. And the Chris figurine, well I'd rather just purchase the NECA one (articulation). I'm actually rather surprised Capcom didn't do something similar with figurine as they have done with Street Fighter IV (PS3 CE got Ryu and 360 CE got Viper, could have done something similar with RE5 had there been a Sheva figurine as well).
The price is kinda steep too, the bag is probably to blame for that. If they had included a soundtrack (like SF4, whose price is 10 bucks cheaper) I would have been much more inclined drop a pre-order for it. On well, in the end, I'll probably cave in and purchase it anyway because it's a collectable. At least the steelbook packaging has a pretty nice design. Oh yeah, the live marketplace has the second TGS trailer available for the download. You know, the one that showed Jill's tombstone at the end (it's no secret now, everyones blabbed about it). Interestingly, Chris has an alternate outfit in one of his confrontations with Wesker. I'm guessing Chris must have met Wesker once more after Code Veronica. The location they were in looked similar to the one where they showed the old man in the wheelchair in (probably Spencer). This could explain Wesker's line in the TGS trailer (the first one), "we last met at the Spencer estate, wasn't it?" Cause I seriously doubt that was in refernce to the mansion in the first game otherwise that would retcon his confrontation with Chris in CV, assuming that line is directed to Chris. |
Holy shit, the LE pack looks awesome. Bag will have its use.
Can't wait actually. Preordering mine as soon as I have the money. Quote:
Or actually dead. EDIT: Spoiler:

Demo is out or has been for a while. Finally got around to playing it on PS3, and I have to say that I enjoyed it. It plays similiar to RE4, but I feel like its more fluid. Im not a fan of the over the shoulder type action games but Resident Evil executes it really well.
I tried Co-op with some random people, and I have learned two things. First of all, its fun as balls to pop someones head off and then start unloading onto the flying BoW that comes out of their neck. Secondly, there are some very very bad players who act like douches on Playstation Network. One partner ran right into the chainsaw boss and got one-shot decapitated. Another one just ran around back and forth and kept hitting his "Call partner" button. Hopefully one of my friends gets this for PS3 so I have someone decent to play with. Oh heres a neat gameplay video for those interested. This is the Kraken/ Spoiler:
Oh well anyway story wise a couple things were brought to light. Spoiler:

I got around to trying the PS3 version as well. I gotta say I prefer the Type D controls for this version rather than the Type C. Oddly enough the shooter type controls I felt worked much better on the the sixaxis/dualshock 3 than it did on the 360 controller. It's probably because I played a lot of MGS4/MGO, also could have been that the L2 worked better than the LB for the knife. The reversal of the Square and X buttons from RE4 made things kind of confusing as well for the Type C. If you remember in RE4 Square was to run/reload while X was to fire/melee/action, now it's reversed for 5.
Differences in the versions, well I noticed there was practically no screening tearing in the PS3 version. When I played the 360 version it often screen teared during the cut scenes. If it did happen during gameplay I didn't notice though, since I was too busy concentrating on not getting hit. The online coop over the PSN wasn't too stable for me. I kept getting connection lost errors when either trying to connect to host or right in the middle of the combat (like 3-5 minutes into a hosted room). Though, it not a big deal to me since I plan on getting the 360 version anyway. Playing the offline again, I noticed that Sheva's AI is really good when you set her to Attack. She makes taking out the Executioner and the Chainsaw guy so much easier. All you have to do is cover her and she'll focus potting headshots on the big guys (best to give her the rifle, she's awesome with it). |
