I'm surprised you managed to get that much out. Look more like Broadway street lights. LOL.

From what I've seen in the demo, he certainly acts competent.

Yeah, from the impressions I've seen so far from the ACZ demo, he's leaps and bounds ahead of the wingmen in 05, to the point where the guy says he simply tells him to use special weapons and sends him off... and he actually uses them effectively.

Though he's bad-ass simply going from what the solo-wing part of his name means.

Whoops, looks like Namco forgot to pay Famitsu off like Square did for FFXII.

Yep, exactly. Nothing new here.

Alright, so I went out yesterday and bought AC04. I'm a couple of missions in.

Pretty dope so far.

I also like the narration and animation stills. Very nice stuff.

Can someone tell me why I would ever want to land manually when I return to base to re-arm. Is it just for fun, or will this skill be important later on?

Megalith Mar 19, 2006 04:39 PM

Landing is only relevant in AC5, because you get a medal for doing so.

RacinReaver Mar 19, 2006 11:00 PM

Landing is in there to make you hate Top Gun that much more for having the hardest landing/in-air refueling system ever.

Stealth Mar 20, 2006 12:26 AM

Jane's F-15 wins that. Though I have a feeling Falcon 4.0 will be worse. (Nevermind that AC04 doesn't even have mid air refueling)

Timberwolf, landing let's you re arm your plane. Though if you're playing on Easy, I don't see how you'd ever need to.

Hey buddy, I dare you to do a Falcon 4.0 flame out landing on highest realism rating and land the bird without breaking any part.

I'm playing on Normal.

I know the point is to re-arm the plane. But the game gives you the option to press "Start" and skip the landing sequence. I was just wondering about that.

Right now, I am on Operation Bunker Shot.

Stealth Mar 20, 2006 12:52 AM

Oh, probably because people suck at landing.

There's nothing to be gained by landing (or taking off for that matter) in AC4. It's basicly just a waste of time, which is why they give you the option to skip it. In AC5 however there is a medal to be earned by succefully clearing all landing and mid-air refueling 'missions' within a certain timelimit.

Thanks Megalith and seanne.

I've been skipping the landing sequences, after doing them for the first couple of times. Now whenever I return to base to re-arm, I'm just amped to get back out there.

Spatula Mar 20, 2006 01:36 PM

It'd suck to have a MISSION ACCOMPLISHED and then having to manual land right after, then CRASHING, MEANING YOU FAILED MOBIUS ONE!

Yeah, thank god for the option of skipping the sequence. Landing isn't very difficult, but a lot is riding along with landings. I'd like to try to take off sometime but not pull up at the end of the runway.

Rock Mar 20, 2006 02:02 PM

I hope the manual take-offs and landings will be a lot harder next time around.

I'd love to see them being mandatory, challenging and plot-relevant. Starting in the midst of a battle, landing safely with a damaged plane, landing on a carrier in bad weather and the like ...

It's possible to fail at landing?

Megalith Mar 20, 2006 02:07 PM

I heard a rumor that you could crash your plane in the process.

Timberwolf Mar 20, 2006 02:09 PM

seanne is saying it isn't possible to fail a mission despite crashing a landing.

Because there is nothing riding on these landings at all.
