Wolfenstein 3D

Duck King Jan 29, 2007 10:04 AM

Yes, but no. Look closer.

TheKnightOfNee Jan 29, 2007 10:08 AM

Not Wolfenstein 3D? Spear of Destiny, then? If it's not that, then I'm not sure.

Duck King Jan 29, 2007 10:12 AM

Spear of Destiny it is. Yeah, Wolfenstein 3D didn't have those green ammo crates. Welcome to the scoreboard.

Okay, here goes. I don't think this is an incredibly hard one, but it might be a little tricky.

Wow, I think I know that one, is it Adventures of Bayou Billy? I remember playing that way back when, the voice on the title screen was always funny since audio clips on the NES came out so crackly.

map car man words telling me to do things Jan 29, 2007 10:36 AM

That's Bayou Billy alright, I remember watching the speedrun a while back.

TheKnightOfNee Jan 29, 2007 10:37 AM

Yep, Adventures of Bayou Billy! It's one of the driving stages in the middle of the game that some people don't see because the first level is so frustrating. A point for Solis.

OK then, continuing in the "tricky but not hard" tradition, here's one which should be recognizable by at least a few people:

Another World.. 2? Is that Heart of the Alien? Cause I've no recollection of him walking in that direction with Lester with the dragon present in the first game.

Malmer Jan 29, 2007 10:55 AM

Another World =o

EDIT, nvm.

Solis Jan 29, 2007 10:57 AM

Qwarky is correct, Heart of the Alien. After posting it I realized it wasn't even released outside of the US. In the US the first game was called "Out of This World" instead of Another World as well.

Yeah, that's one game I've always wanted to try. It's a shame the sequel never got ported for other platforms and I've had no luck finding a good image of the game to try on an emulator.

Let's go older.

Heart of the Alien? Gain Ground?

I never get to this thread in enough time to get the games I actually DO know. ;____;

map car man words telling me to do things Jan 29, 2007 11:25 AM

If it's any comfort, I couldn't even see the Gain Ground picture.

Elixir Jan 29, 2007 12:11 PM

Why do I get the feeling there's only 3 people actually playing.

Anyway, this will be hard.

Chaotic Jan 29, 2007 12:37 PM

Because all three of you are all posting half-impossible screen shots. Give us something mainstream or something. Give others a chance. T_T

Dopefish Jan 29, 2007 12:41 PM

Out of all the screengrabs in this thread the Spear of Destiny one is the only one I have recognized. As Chaotic suggests, more familiar games would make it more interesting for everyone who isn't the same 3 people.

Jurassic Park Chocolate Raptor Jan 29, 2007 12:46 PM

But it would make it boring for those of us who can do the harder stuff.

How about a second thread, Chaotic? "Guess the screenshot: Mainstream edition", or something and people can only post games that sold at least 25k copies and were only released in the US or something.

The only reason I participate less is because I never get to this thread in time. :gonk:

Edit: Scratch that, I'll make it. You guys feel free to do your thing in it though.

map car man words telling me to do things Jan 29, 2007 12:50 PM

While I agree people shouldn't go out of their way to post the most obscure games, to be perfectly honest, if you don't recognise a game like Akuji, Liquid Kids or Shadow of Memories, I feel that says more about your very limited knowledge of games than anything wrong on the poster's part. Posting Mario 64 and Final Fantasy 7 samples does not make things interesting, then it's simply a race on who refreshes and types fastest.

A good sample can be from an obscure game, so long as it includes details that people can investigate in order to track down the correct answer. I admit Stealth Force was a very bad choice on my part since it's so indistinguishable.

That said, I think lix is trying too hard to stump people here >:E
