Shining Force and Shining in the Darkness, but no SF2? :(

nuttyturnip Apr 12, 2007 08:58 AM

Wow, Shining in the Darkness? Talk about obscure. I remember playing that on my Nomad with a map, and still didn't finish the game. Still have the cartridge, too.

Omnislash124 Apr 12, 2007 09:39 AM

Whoa, wait, Shining Force?!

AWESOME!!!

Now only if Shining Force II and Shining Force III made it there too....that would kick ass on so many different levels.

Elixir Apr 12, 2007 11:33 AM

Shining Force III is for Saturn though, so looooool you ain't getting it.

I don't know if thats true...Wii is supposed to be getting Neo Geo games so ya never know.

If they were smart they'd relase SSB

DarkMageOzzie Apr 12, 2007 04:06 PM

If they did put Shining Force III on virtual console. I wouldn't care unless they gave us part 2 and 3 which we were gyped on originally. I know Saturn sales were low but giving us what is basicly 1/3 of a game is just ridiculess.

The difference is that Nintendo has confirmed that there will be Neo Geo games available on VC eventually, whereas as far as I know they've given no indication that Saturn games will ever show up. There was that rumor, but nothing substantial. Maybe eventually (hopefully).

This would be stellar, although since they were never released outside of Japan, Scenarios 2 and 3 would have to be translated. I wonder if that much effort would actually be put into a VC release.

As much as I would like that, I think Nintendo shot those hopes down when they said that the Virtual Console was to be region specific and that any game that didn't originally come out in certain areas will not be released on the VC in those areas.

But one can still hope....

FatsDomino Apr 12, 2007 07:40 PM

I don't recall them saying that. They might have said something along the lines that if a game was released in a region that they would be getting that version of the game.

Slash Apr 12, 2007 08:27 PM

I don't know, I think if there is a big enough uproar nintendo would release them...unless you know..they're one of those companies that don't want to make any money

What? Shining Force III? I'm not sure if it would get that kind of uproar. I personally would contribute to it, but I'm not sure if there are enough people who loved the game that much and still love the game to this date.

I'd also like if they bring the Fire Emblem series here, before their GBA/GC iterations. I don't think Fire Emblem 1 - 6 ever made it to the US. Of course, that'd be a bit more work because translations are needed.

Australia and New Zealand's VC service has the TG-16 games completely removed because they weren't released here originally. :(

To now disprove this,

Battle Lode Runner is set to release for sometime this month, Battle Lode Runner was NOT released in the US but only released in Japan

SuperSonic Apr 23, 2007 01:26 PM

Battle Lode Runner and Wonder Boy in Monster World on US VC's today...man, I don't know either of those but I'm sure some people will be happy this week.

CloudNine Apr 23, 2007 01:34 PM

Gradius III, as well, according to Wikipedia. Nintendo's press page isn't working.

FUCKING

YEEEESSSSSSS

Download and play now, SS. Earth commands it.

Guru Apr 23, 2007 03:16 PM

Wonder Boy is pretty awesome, I just downloaded it because it looked cute.

Additional Spam:
I'm stuck in Wonder Boy. I figured out how to use the ocarina to play music, but I can't get him to shoot his dang fireballs. I imagine it's similar, since you can assign magic to the A button, but when I try to do it, no luck.

I'm not really sure I've got the control scheme down. Anyone help?

Slash May 13, 2007 12:40 AM

Just went on WiiShop today and found out that Final Fight in on VC! HELL YEAHS!

SuperSonic May 14, 2007 11:12 AM

This week on Virtual Console for the US:

Ninja Gaiden (NES)
Ninja Spirit (TG16)
Pac-Man (NES)

I await patiently for Ninja Gaiden 2. :D

nuttyturnip May 14, 2007 11:26 AM

It's amazing how much dreck they're trotting out without giving us the good stuff (like Mario RPG or Super Metroid). Maybe if the Wii wasn't doing so well, Nintendo would be motivated to take it up a notch.

SuperSonic May 21, 2007 11:10 AM

Today's Virtual Console in the US (5/21/07):

Blazing Lazers (TG16)
Streets of Rage 2 (Genesis)
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest (SNES)

Awesome! DKC2 just got downloaded! :D

The Plane Is A Tiger May 21, 2007 11:39 AM

YES. OH HELL YES. I've been debating on whether or not to download Wonder Boy in Monster World for weeks, but today has made me very happy that I didn't. Streets of Rage 2. <3

I didn't even know a sequel existed until naz told me after Streets of Rage came out on the VC, so I can't wait to download and try this.

For your information, there's a Streets of Rage 3 as well, but I never really liked that one. SoR2 is the best, in my opinion, and it has the best music, too.

That is a pretty solid line-up. Blazing Lazers is supposedly the be-all-end-all shooter on TG16. Streets of Rage 2 is a great addition. I would download DKC2 if I didn't own the SNES cart; I'm kind of waiting on DKC3 at this point.

Let's hope they keep up the quality uploads like this!

Slash May 21, 2007 03:22 PM

Also with the release of DKC2, theres hope that Perfect Dark will be released as well as Goldeneye
