Just in case anyone missed it or wants to relive it:

YouTube Video

I still can't stop getting a chuckle or a smile on half these plays, I'm still amazed at what I saw.

I'm currently downloading (very slowly) a torrent of the Fiesta Bowl. It's 2GB so hopefully it's a good quality.

I hope Charlie Weis is happy with his career move.

Drex Jan 4, 2007 02:18 AM

That was a very disappointing game of football. I gave up shortly after the 3rd quarter started and went back to playing FFXII. To think I gave up a road trip to watch it. :(

Being an Auburn fan, I don't really care for Florida too much. HOWEVER, when it comes to choosing between rooting for an SEC team that I don't like and rooting for a non-SEC team in the National Championship game, it is a really easy choice: SEC all the way. Talking about the game this afternoon with a coworker, I mentioned a couple of reasons why I thought Florida had a legitimate shot at winning this game, 1) with all the time between games, the coaching staff would be able to put together a solid game plan to combat OSU, and 2) OSU doesn't get to see defenses with the kind of speed all over the field that Florida features.

This is why SEC football is the best football in the nation.

Another college football season over, another situation arises where the BCS looks stupid for its rankings and selection process. How much longer will college football be without a playoff? Boise State must be bullshit, thanks to Florida slaughtering the Buckeyes tonight.

There, is that better?

nazpyro Jan 9, 2007 02:06 AM

Man, it wasn't even close. The start was quite exciting though. But then THE Ohio State University couldn't do shit. I was kinda cheering for Florida anyway, but I didn't really care. College football done.

Um, go Florida. The entire city got tanked. ...And this is probably the only post I will ever make in the sports forums. :)

(But man, winning the basketball championship and the football championship, one right after the other? It's a shame the school is being wasted on non-spirited students like me.)

IdleChill Jan 9, 2007 05:34 AM

Of course the SEC is the best conference, duh.

Ah haha I agree with pretty much every single thing you've said. I never thought of myself as a "spirited" student, but the athletics department, I must say, really earns the good rep for this season. I just hope they'll shut up about it eventually. To me, as a Fine Arts/Liberal Arts major (and we know how those schools are doing financially...-_-lll), the attention and overshadowing that the Athletics department gets/does over just about everything else even slightly commendable about the university is just darn stupid.

It's interesting how annoyingly unifying sports is. I never cared much for football, but mid-season (and thanks to one of my new roommates), I found myself caught in the excitement that built up in the city throughout the season and even watching a few games. Football, to me, is still an uninteresting sport, but I felt the slightest twinge of school pride for the first time ever last night when UF won. It'll go away soon enough. Go Gators for the time being and all. whee...

Florida just rocked everything I knew and loved by winning both the Basketball Championship and the Football Championship.

I have to give them props though, I though Ohio State would just take it easily, but Florida just took it to them and beat them.

russ Jan 9, 2007 10:40 PM

Pretty nice how Auburn beat two of the top three teams in the nation this year, including the National Champs, but wilted against Georgia.

Drex Jan 10, 2007 11:34 PM

That was worse football than the Notre Dame game. What a letdown. I was watching with a die-hard Ohio State fan, too, so that was even better. Plus Urban Meyer is not well-loved in my neck of the woods, having coached the University of Utah over us for a while. Oh, well. Now that the season's over I can start turning to college basketball again.

Oh and go BYU! ^_^
