Ignoring the tier faggotry, I'm going to say that I like Roy and am sad to see him go, because the FE fandom hates him. The FE fandom also hates Micaiah, even though she's one of the few females that actually has a shot in... as a matter of fact, it's not looking good for most females not named Krystal, which makes me sad that SSBB will still be a sausage-fest.

So maybe that link above will help for those who understand Korean?

And it seems Lyn is not loved enough to make it as a complete character. Smash needs more girls, but Fire Emblem is the game with most candidates, and since it's not as famous as a Zelda or Mario game, the chances for them are reduced. I will also miss Roy (and Marth).

I agree, Smash Bros. need some more females to fill out the character roster. However, Nintendo has hardly made an effort to create identifiable females -- with only a few exceptions: Peach, Zelda, Samus and Daisy. There are other females in the world of Nintendo out there, Paula from EarthBound, the purple-haired bat-girl from Daigasso! Band Brothers, Marin (or, Malon) from Legend of Zelda, etc. I think Nintendo has shied away from this since games starring females tend to not do as well at retail.

Lizardcommando Dec 4, 2007 08:54 PM

I don't even get what's so great about Krystal anyways. She was annoying in Star Fox Assault and she was even lamer in Star Fox Adventure. Besides, what kind of moves would she have?

Zeta26 Dec 4, 2007 11:57 PM

Anyways. For music composition. I've been wondering about the piece that Yoko Shimomura will be doing. To me, it seems that she will be doing that up beat version of the main theme. Which shows in this trailer;

YouTube - Super Smash Bros. Brawl Ultimate Trailer

Which the theme starts at 2:34.

Acro-nym Dec 5, 2007 12:11 AM

Praise be to Brawl!

It shall show the tyrannical Xbox the Wii's importance and its superiority! Because sales aren't enough.

Zeta26 Dec 5, 2007 12:18 AM

Um okaay? Didn't you see my question?

Lizardcommando Dec 5, 2007 12:24 AM

What exactly are you trying to ask? I don't see your question.

I am opposing the new tyranny of this board.

Be that as it may, I did see your comment. Do you actually have a concern, though? I like the music that you linked to, but if Shimomura is willing to give us something else of equal or better caliber, then that's good, too.

Cheezeman3000 Dec 5, 2007 02:39 AM

Look at the update (i'll let someone else post the info).

I'm really happy you'll be able to knock the smash ball out of someone... it's gonna make things really hectic. :)
But I wonder if you'll also be able to knock the "final smash" out?

It can be knocked out of you before you use it (in Smash Ball form), but I doubt when they're in the middle of their Final Smash.

Anyways, yeah, Smash Ball, attack it repeatedly to get it. It's enabled by pressing the B button (varies with each Final Smash), and if you're hit before using it, it flies out of you and probably gets caught by someone else. Also, there's a Pity Final Smash when the losing player is down by a large amount of lives/KOs, and when revived, they'll have a Final Smash ready to use. Also, it's an item, so shut it off if you want to.

Also, music (Tunnel Scene) from a Japan-only game called "X".

Dalkaen Dec 5, 2007 03:16 AM

Why aren't the new updates showing up on the main page? Is that just me? I can only access it by going to the "list posts by date" thing..

Anyhow, excellent update. Final Smashes sound like they're going to be really fun. That X track sounds really cool, too.

The Plane Is A Tiger Dec 5, 2007 03:18 AM

I really hope that there's a seperate option to turn off Pity Final Smashes or at least set an outrageous point limit for them to activate without turning off the Smash Balls. If a player sucks, they suck. Don't give them something to turn the battle around that required zero skill on their part.

It's why I never understood why the game needed handicaps... But even if the player has the Pity Smash, it still doesn't change the fact they suck. Even with that, a horrible decision will be made and roffles all around when the player with the Pity Smash executes the move on the side nobody is on.

Pity Final Smashes can be likened to Mario Kart, I think. In Mario Kart, the players in last will receive all the uber (a.k.a. bullshit) items like the blue shell and the lightning bolt on a regular basis, merely because these items become pity items of sorts for the players that lack skill.

The_Griffin Dec 5, 2007 04:12 AM

Even if a pity smash connects and KO's the better player, it doesn't do much to change the tide of the battle. The better player will still win (unless the player was whoring some bullshit tactic that will inevitably come up and be almost impossible to counter... I'm looking at you, Cammy. You and your bullshit combo that ends in a super and can be done over and over again).

I hope there is an option to turn off the pity handicap because fuck if I want Smash Bros to be ruined like Mario Kart. I'll have to try it out. If it's like a one time only for someone is going to game over and not OH I JUST HAPPEN TO BE IN FOURTH PLACE TIME TO RAPE EVERYONE then I might keep it on should there be an option.

And the X: Tunnel Scene music shows us nothing new. We had music from Mach Rider and Balloon Fight in Melee and they didn't have characters or levels in the game; nothing besides trophies. Unless X is a game not made by Nintendo this is kind of meh. I'm glad Sakurai is putting in some personal favorite tunes though.

Additional Spam:
X (Game Boy game - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Hmm... very interesting.

Cool stuff~

Your wiki link is fail unfail quickly. Also, how in the hell did I miss the music from Mach Rider and Balloon Fight in Melee?

Monkey King Dec 5, 2007 11:42 AM

If the player in 4th place sucks badly enough, can't you just run up and kick the final smash ball out of him and then use it to humiliate him even more?

They're alternate songs in some of the levels, Mach Rider is in Big Blue. I think.

Only if they're not the type to use it immediately after being revived out of fear that such a thing might happen. Obviously this will be annoying with the fullscreeners like Iceberg or PSI Starstorm and already even more pitiful with stuff like Galaxia Darkness.

Zeta26 Dec 5, 2007 01:44 PM

And, why would some of you guys think that this is likeened to Mario Kart? Don't think that just because these items get on the battle stages, that it will be almost like Mario Kart. Because it isn't.

And no, the 4th player won't receive all those cool items. All players will. It just depends on who gets them first.

Did you not see the updates to the Smash Dojo site. I think you need to read again with the headline talking about the Smash Ball. And I quote;

"Now, if you don’t want to use Final Smashes whatsoever, you can restrict the appearance of this item in the Item Switch. If you just turn Smash Balls off, you’ll be set."

And I'm pretty sure that you can turn off the handicap. You can do it in Melee, having no handicaps.

Fixed the link. Seems the autoparser fucks up sometimes on parentheses.

The Mach Rider and Balloon Fight themes were hidden tracks on certain stages. You just have to get everyone to hold L or R before those stages started to get them to play.

- Infinite Glacier: Icicle Mountain (Retro theme from Balloon Fight for NES)
- Termina: Great Bay (The theme of Lost Woods from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for N64)
- Hyrule: Temple (A remix of various themes from Fire Emblem titles)
- Yoshi's Island: Yoshi's Island (Stage 1-1 and world 1 map remix from Super Mario Bros. 3 for NES)
- Kanto: Pokémon Stadium (The Trainer Battle theme from Pokémon Gold & Silver for GBC)
- F-Zero Grand Prix: Big Blue (A theme from Mach Rider for NES)
- Eagle Land: Onett (The theme of EarthBound)
- Mushroom Kingdom OR Mushroom Kingdom II (The Fever theme from Dr. Mario)
- Special Stages: Battlefield (The theme used in Multi-Man Melee fights)
- Special Stages: Final Destination (The theme used in Event 51, The Showdown)

Sometimes, the music will change automatically (12% chance).

And I think you need to read that same update again. We're talking about Pity Final Smashes, the kind that the player in fourth can spawn with. The question is whether or not regular Final Smashes can still be on while Pity Final Smashes are turned off.

Anyways, I'm hoping they're only likely if the player in fourth is far enough behind that 3 ko's wouldn't make much of a difference. Either way, they'll probably be annoying but not tide-turning.

I would think that if the Smash Ball gets vetoed out of existence, then all Final Smash opportunities are vetoed along with it.

StarmanDX Dec 5, 2007 02:45 PM

Except some of us might want Final Smashes on without having the Pity version on.

Damn, how many times does this have to be said before people understand?
