I also got the "call" from EBgames today. So close.

That's true. I'm pretty quick on my rpg's. Just go in a kill everything in sight as you get from point a to b. Although with XII, supposingly there are a lot of side missions so if they say what is true on about doing everything to clock in over 100 hours, it surely will bring back memories of my Xenogears days. What a 85 hour rush that was.

lordo Oct 30, 2006 06:38 PM

You took 85 hours on Xenogears and you call yourself quick :P

I've been playing the leaked version though it has started locking up in Ozmone Planes when I try to use magic damnit :( Gonna download the US version when it's released to see if it helps :D

rpgcrazied Oct 30, 2006 07:06 PM

My eb is having a midnight release, but i think ill wait to get it in the morning. Hopefully no big lines then.. lol :)

Soldier Oct 30, 2006 07:31 PM

It seems fortune smiles upon me. Those carpet guys have rescheduled for Saturday, so I can take it easy for the next few days, and should be able to enjoy FFXII first thing tommorow.

I might pick the game up on midnight, since the store is a bit out of the way from work.

Also, I was hoping someone would handle my FFXII avatar/sig request in the aforementioned thread. Anyone got any illustrations for the game that haven't been used as an av/sig here yet?

Back then yeah I was slow, but rpg's of today I'm pretty quick with. Xenosaga 3 took me 29 hours. Grandia 3 took me 28 hours. I suppose the 30 hour rpg is standard? Either way, I'm looking forward to XII for some long play times. With the side of Okami and Gears of War. Then of course Demeber is next with Zelda.

Slayer X Oct 30, 2006 09:33 PM

Yeah, FFXII then Gears of War, then the PS3... man what a crazy month it's going to be for me. Nevermind an expensive month at that.

I've got this PNG image of Penelo you could use where all you need to do is crop and resize it to board sig limits and change the background to that of the board so it'll appear transparent:

Avatar you can work with:

If you need or want something else then let me know, I've got all sorts of renders and promotional stuff for FFXII.

Soldier Oct 31, 2006 12:06 AM

Well, I was more hoping for Basch, Balthier, or a Judge/Judges, but I don't have a real preference. I tried to convert a ping image once as a sig, though, and the results weren't very good. Also, I was hoping more for drawn illustrations, something that hasn't been seen much here. Maybe I'll wait for the bonus DVD and rip whatever artwork is present.

Also, I haven't seen the LE guide on Amazon, just the standard one.

http://www.amazon.com/Final-Fantasy-...e=UTF8&s=books

I am interested in buying it, but I really want to save my cash for the coming onslaught in 3 weeks.

Mucknuggle Oct 31, 2006 12:11 AM

No LE guide on Amazon? I ordered it fine on Amazon.ca

Spatula Oct 31, 2006 12:29 AM

That reminds me, I don't even know if my EB has the LE guide in stock for tomorrow. I know 100% for the LE game, but the guide, meh.... it'd be nice to get them right at the same time, plus enough of them for me to choose which cover I want. I doubt that though ;__;.

ashaman Oct 31, 2006 03:31 AM

Can't wait to pick up my LE game/guide tomorrow. While searching for reviews I found this interesting pic:
http://ps2media.ign.com/ps2/image/ar...7031023025.jpg
Can anyone explain this? Is it a joke or an homage. I know FFXII is in the same world as FFTA but I thought they were unrelated. And for the game to switch to the FFTA style, there has to be a reason. If it is a major spoiler then I guess I will have to find out on my own when I play the game. Otherwise, I am curious has to how this game relates to the previous ones if at all.

And just in case my direct link doesn't work, here is the picture on the website:

I'm not exactly sure if this is gonna be in a sub-section of the menue, or perhaps accessed from the start-up screen, but it's just a neat, charming, pixelated room that keeps up with your various achievements throughout the game and rewards you some stuff.

The pic almost makes me wanna have the entire game in sprites. 2D sprites can be so captivating when they're lush and richly detailed.

The Sky Pirate's Den is just a screen (accessed from a sub-menu) for which you are awarded images of different characters from the game when you achieve certain things. For example, if you complete a 50-chain, you get the cute moogle Montblanc.

You won't be able to choose what cover though since the whole thing is shrinkwrapped and I doubt EB will be happy if you started opening several of the guides just to get a cover you want. :P

Well then how about one of Inhert's unused and excellent sigs?

I'm off to work in 15 minutes which means this will be my last post before getting the game! Man, I haven't been this excited and pumped for an FF title since FFVIII.

Maybe the scan of this book can satisfy you. It will cover more than hundred illustrations with comments.

Gosh today is gonna be a long day waiting till 4 P.M. Hopefully this game will join the ranks of FFVIII as one of my favorite and most memorable games.

Ditto. Well, actually I never did play FFVIII until after a few years it was released. I think this is the very first FF game that I will get ON RELEASE DAY! =o JOY OH JOY.

Well, there is going to be a Nintendo DS spin off of FFXII.... don't think this would be a screen cap though..

Spatula Oct 31, 2006 09:30 AM

It might be a new screencap of Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings for the DS. The characters sure do look like it, all chibi-ised.

Taisai Oct 31, 2006 09:36 AM

Nah, it's from FFXII as seanne says.
I really hope RW will be like this, but sadly the resolution of DS is very low.

Slayer X Oct 31, 2006 10:08 AM

If people were still wondering why the character development is a bit shallow and the story is more based on the world then it is the actual characters then here's your answers.

http://ps2.ign.com/articles/742/742013p1.html

It would seem that FFXII was originally supposed to be an MMO just like FFXI, except at some point in development they decided to change directions and make it totaly seflf contained.

The interview also contains many other interesting facts about the game.

Inhert Oct 31, 2006 11:32 AM

so in some wayt FFXII was suppose to be FFXI-2 :o interesting... I see why the gameplay has a lot in common...

ArchesFan Oct 31, 2006 11:44 AM

I'm slowly waiting for my copy to get here via UPS. It's kind of interesting to know that it was going to be a MMORPG before, but they decided to change it. Despite the non character development, I still think, based on reviews and experiences, it's good enough. The only thing I'm worried about is how I'll screw up every character by getting the crappy licenses first.

rpgcrazied Oct 31, 2006 12:11 PM

lol.. i just got the CE edition.. i had the regular one preorderd. The guy said, they sold more of the regular edition. The wall behind him was full of CE's, so i just paid the extra 10 an got it. woot

God YES. Is that out yet? I can't wait to see all the non-spoilerartwork.

I'm off work in 2 hours. It'll be another 30 by the time I get home, but I think I'll avoid this thread for a while. I want to go in fresh.

And I'll go further than your excitement by saying I haven't been this excited for an FF since FFVI. I really hope this game will rekindle the feeling of wonderment I experienced when I first saw Terra plow through the snowy plains to the tune of her excellent theme. :)
