Well there was always this:

They asked for the serial number on my Wii and said they could link it to the one they were shipping out. When my new unit was shipped out, the first time I accessed the Wii shop channel it deleted the games I had already downloaded. When the new system got here, I went into the shopping channel and it had all the games I got before as "downloaded," had my existing points left, and was still linked to my nintendo.com account.

Since your country ACTUALLY HAS a Nintendo holding, you should phone them and tell them about this. Ask them if it applies to Australia and what would happen if you exchange it.

Or you could just uhh, reset everything to defaults or something. I dunno, this is exactly why I don't have one (actually, I was waiting until component cables were available here) because launch consoles are pretty sus.

There were people earlier in this thread talking about sega games and the dreamcast and such and I was wondering if anyone new if some sega saturn games were ever going to make it to the Wii. My cousin had one back in the day and Panzer Dragoon was pretty sweet so I'd love to see that. Also could anyone tell me where abouts the dreamcast would be in terms of other consoles (spec wise) like is it as good as the N64 or is it just better than the PS or what. I remember seeing a few at Westfields when they came out but thats it

I'd get a replacement from the store, but I was a stupid cunt and bought VC games which are only linked to the console itself, so I'd lose those and have wasted money on the cards. Duuuunno, duuuunno, the joys of launch hardware.

Call Nintendo of Aussie's bathroom stall office and send it into them for repairs... that's all you can really do at this point. :(

Alternatively, you could move to Seattle and just take it to NoA's corporate headquarters! =D

One question: Aren't there plans for releasing third party sensor bars?

Disaster. While vacuuming the house, my girlfriend's mum sucked up the sensor bar cord and caused the sensor bar to crash, taking the black casing off the right side of the bar. It still works fine, actually, but looking at the sensor bar with a bit of sticky tape leaves a lot to be desired...

DjMeas Dec 13, 2006 10:54 AM

Super Swing Golf is out today!

Anyone heard any news on how it plays? Or did anyone import it?

I'd really like to know~ If it's good, i'll pick it up since Wii Sports Golf's 9 courses
are getting a bit boring ^_^''

http://www.wirelesssensorbar.com/ Try that. I hear it works wonders.

Also, at you guys who have Super Swing golf, I got an uncle who's really, really itching to play a decent golf game, and Wii-golf has got boring for him. Would Super Swing appease his golf appetite, or is it not realistic enough?

Lacerta Dec 13, 2006 12:26 PM

The only thing unrealistic about Pangya is the power shots, at least I think so.

It's enough to hold someone over until the next Tiger Woods game.

Unfortunately I can't play it since it doesn't come out over here until the 14th.

The Nintendo sensor bar cost only $10 off their online store (in the U.S., dunno about Australia), as opposed to that $25 thing Turbo put. =/

That golf games looks like fun. I saw it in the store during GFFMD, but didn't think much of it other than that HOLY CRAP IT'S PANGYA!

However, a wireless sensor might be what some people need to extend their reach.

nazpyro Dec 13, 2006 08:34 PM

Ah. Okay. ^^ Need for wireless wasn't mentioned in chaofan's post. :p

Anyway, I finally got my component cables! Now my BIG DAMN TRUCKS can be BIGGER and DAMNER!

DjMeas Dec 13, 2006 09:48 PM

I am here to say:

PLEASE DO NOT BUY or RENT FARCRY- Vengeance!

IT IS THE DUMBEST THING I'VE EVER PLAYED! I JUST PLAYED IT!
Plesae don't waste your money on this! PLEASE!

I'd rather look at the Wii Menu than play this piece of JUNK!

This is a warning!

Grubdog Dec 13, 2006 10:15 PM

What's wrong with it?

Amayirot Akago Dec 14, 2006 12:08 AM

Indeed, something I'd like to know too, seeing how the IGN preview and vids made me very interested to play it.

Considering the release of Crysis is very near (I hope), I've already given up on any Far Cry game and hopes of it being successful.

What? Far Cry sucks? Damn it! I just finished Zelda...and Rayman was finished a week ago. Hmm..

Big surprise. No matter if it's a Nintendo, Microsoft or Sony platform, Europe gets screwed.
Hurry up, will ya! Elebits is the FPS I have great hopes for!

DjMeas Dec 14, 2006 11:01 AM

Sorry for the odd post earlier, i was just really frustrated with the game.

Here's why i think Far Cry is terrible:

1) The controlls feel clunky. Moving the Wiimote to the left of the screen
or right of the screen will make you turn. If you want to stay focused without
turning you'd have to hold A down. But even there's a sensetivity setting
in the options, the controls don't ever feel comfortable and precise.

2) The framerate is TERRIBLE. If you're not in a dense jungle area (like
a building with not much inside) the graphic are fine. But once you hit
areas with grass and trees~ Goodbye Smooth Framerate. I mean it's
terribly choppy.

3) Since slicing with the knife is done by swinging your Wiimote and
aiming is by pointing the Wiimote- Sometimes when i want to slice,
my view will go down since the swing is registering as pointing downward
quickly on the screen. Annoying.

4) The openning movie when you start a new game looks like they ripped
it out of some cheap quality YouTube stream. There's little glitches and
bad rendering with lines running across the screen. They were too lazy
to actually use real-time graphics for this so it looks like they took a video
from a really old previous version of the game. You have to see it for
yourself, and when you do, you'll understand why it kills this game even more.

5) Some websites say the game is 4 players, some 2. Well, the game is
only 2 Players (i was hoping for 4). When you play versus with a buddy,
the split screen is horizontal. It's too bad the frame rate is terrible again.
Not only that, when you kill a person and gain "Predator" status,
the "Animalistic" view sort of looks like you're looking through a fish bowl...
I can't see CRAP when the sides are blurred and you're running twice as
fast as you normally do PLUS the framerate DROPS drastically.

I've never played a Far Cry game before but... This feels like something
i'd play on the PC back in the 90's. No Joke. Rent it for yourself and see.
If i seem bias, well i just spent $50 on this junk hoping it would be ok.

Amayirot Akago Dec 14, 2006 11:58 AM

Well, that certainly ends my hope for Far Cry to be the first decent FPS on Wii.

Ubisoft seems to need to get their act together for the Wii, Rayman or not.

I'm not arguing with you, especially because I don't have the game, nor have I played a FPS on the Wii yet, but:

1) Isn't that how every FPS on the Wii works? You move the cursor to the side and your character turns? It's better in Far Cry because you can stop the screen from moving by holding A (something the other FPSs haven't done, as far as I know).

3) Couldn't you just quickly hold down A and then slash to stop the screen from going down?

pofcorn Dec 14, 2006 12:56 PM

Meh, not surprised about Farcry. It was pretty terrible on the Xbox.

Got my component cables yesterday. Now all I need is an actual Wii ;_;

It's not better at all. It still fills terrible and suffers from the same problems Red Steel does. Apparently Metroid has found the perfect middle-ground, which is good because right now FPSs on the Wii need help. He's right in that the controls feel clunky, and holding down the A button does nothing to solve it.

No because it still wouldn't register a slice. It would just move the cursor. Either way it's irrelevant since it shouldn't happen. The controls should just work, simple as that. And in the case of Far Cry and Red Steel, they don't.

Beyond that, the game is fucking ugly as hell. Anyone who had hopes for this game was just being silly. It looked terrible from the get-go, and surprise, it turned out terrible. I mean, this is what, the fifth version of the PC game? It can only be ported around so much. The Wii needs a game built for it with obviously a lot of time put into the controls. Launch titles didn't do either.

same here. I cant believe people still line up every morning outside EB...after how many weeks? My chances of getting one before xmas dont look good. Especially with all those stay at home mom's getting in line, they have nothing better to do..and I do!

Elixir Dec 14, 2006 02:45 PM

Got my Wii. I'd post pictures but it's been bragged about into infinitum already so it isn't really necessary.

How does the Ethernet -> USB cable work for getting the Wii online? It isn't wireless, I know, but it's a lot cheaper than to turn around and buy a wifi dongle. Which I suspect I'll just have to do anyway.

Which sucks, because I have like, 1 DS game out of 17 that actually uses wifi. But I'm not too worried about that. I'm worried that my regular shitbrick router won't let anything connect because it's known for having it's problems.
