The ladies there were photoshopped onto a picture of a barren Gamestop storefront with no one there... Look at the edges of their heads. Doesn't match.
The photo of the people with folding chairs is real though. Edit: Sleep time... I'll report back with the results of my quest later tomorrow, hah. |
Was it confirmed that the $500 model will also ship with HDMI inputs installed on it, or was that a Japan-only thing as well as the price drop?
Edit: Ah, nevermind. According to CNet, "...a $600 model with a 60GB hard drive and built-in wireless networking and a $500 version with a 20GB hard drive but no Wi-Fi--HDMI was originally absent from this model but was added in September." I can live without the built-in WiFi, as I don't even have a wireless router at the moment. I'll pick one up whe it becomes necessary. |
Got to my gamestop 3 hours before opening and there were like 13 people camping outside it to pre-order. I didn't really expect mine to get a line that big this early since I live in a pretty small town full of people who don't know much about gaming. I decided not to stick around since I know my gamestop probably won't get any more than 6. =\

One of my roommates drove all around San Diego county this morning to reserve PS3s. I asked him to preorder one for me.
That, coupled with the one I'll be picking up from GameCrazy on launch = $$$ |
Metro Detroit area over here, All 6 EbGames and Gamestops are booked out on pre-orders by 1:25PM. Shit. There goes my money that I was going to get by putting it up on ebay. Should have skipped school to wait my ass in line.
|
Wow, none left in my town, at either EB or GameStop. I called them during the break from my class around 11:00 AM and there was one left. That kind of shocked me. Eh, oh well. I'm gonna bank on there being some online pre-ordering happening sometime soon. 6 systems per store is an insanely low amount, despite the shortage.
|
Yeah, they've run out of PS3 pre-orders around here. Oh well.
|
Success :) Showed up at the mall EB at 8:40 or so. Met some rather nice people, and ended up as number 5 out of 12.
First person showed up at 7am, followed by the second at 8. Then after 8:30, people started trickling in. Apparently at the downtown Seattle EB, there were over 100 people lined up outside, with only 3 systems to preorder. I smell BS! But yeah, glad I chose the location I did. |
I just called the local EB: uuhh... we don't have any details on that. Can you call back in about an hour when the manager returns?
WTF... |

So I call back twice and nobody is picking up the phone. They must be tired of "Are you accepting pre-orders for PS3s?"
|
Well I called the three EBs in my area and all of them said the same thing. First at 10AM that their managers were at a meeting, and then I called again at 1:30PM and they all pretty much said the same thing once again, which was "There are currently no plans of doing PS3 pre-books and that it's more then likely going to be a first come first serve thing."
My friend who works at EB Ajax said the same thing too. |
I just called again and encountered ANGST.
"So they told me to call back in an hour regarding..." "WE AREN'T TAKING PRE-ORDERS. THAT'S ONLY FOR THE STATES." "Uhh... ok." click They must be getting a bajillion calls. They've never been rude to me like that before. |
Never eh?? lol
Guess you wern't trying to get Guitar Hero when it first came out eh? It came out in the states fine... but like always Canada gets shafted and we didn't get it until a month later. Therefore whenever you tried to get an update from EB on the status of the game they would just say next week and hang up. Yup, that's (generally) EB for ya. |
Wow. Your EB needs to get some new staff.
|
I opened up this morning and I had more people waiting in line to get in than I had pre-orders available for them. I told all but the first six they weren't getting one, and unless they wanted something else, they could go home. Effectively stopped that rush before I even opened.
I pre-ordered mine when my boss got there, and he pre-ordered his as well, making all 8 reservations officially done. We were the last two. |
I'm sure that they appreciated you telling them that they were wasting their time. Did they cry?
|
well on ebgames website for the ps3 they already said that due to high demand and limited quantities that they close the in-store pre-order...
I hope the pre-order for Canada will soon begin I really want one at the launch date XD if not I hope that it's true that there'll be 1.5m other console by the end of the year... |
The only reason why I want one on launch day is to sell it on eBay and make easy money.
|
Or you could be nice and sell it to me... lol
No, really... |
Yup. That was the exact reason I wanted to pre-order it. I saw a chance with the 360, saw a chance with Subsistence, but god be damned if I was going to let the PS3 slip away without me doing something about it.
|
Subsistence?

It's sad because people don't grasp this concept. You aren't guaranteed to resell a PS3. The same thing happened with the 360. |

So, did my sister come through for me?

And although I can't resist some guys getting screwed from their little "easy money" plot, I feel inclined to warn some of you like Metal Sphere about the online rumblings concerning a new policy. Spoiler:
