Any word on if they will be holding online reservations as well?

Eventually but not tomorrow. 10/10 seems it'll be the first and only day for in-store preorders given the supply and demand so I'm wondering how they're going to make online preorders work if units are so limited.

No kidding, I thought the Xbox 360 launch was "bad" (as in for the consumers), I might actually want to drop by a mall on November 17th JUST to see people running in and out and probably see how long the line ups are, with all the :( faces of whomever not getting their hands on a PS3.
Then I might do the same for the 19th, cause I've got not much else to do with my time ^___^.

Come to Montreal on the 16th and you can camp out at the local Best Buy with my friend and I as we wait for the PS3. Then watch us sell them on eBay for mad profit. Cha Ching.

Studying university stuff by flashlight and drinking Tim Hortons tea all night FTW.

Spatula Oct 9, 2006 09:27 PM

Pay for my airfare? Do we get to play with the merchandise before we 2nd hand sell it? :tpg:.

Hell! I might go the 16th and see how the line ups are like in my city. I really don't know, but I don't think I've seen with my own eyes a line up that was more than a few hours in advance in my life. I don't think I'd ever do that, actually. Staying in line more than even 30 minutes gets me on my nerves, think of how I'd be the next morning. LET ME IN LET ME IN!

Maybe Hantei is interested too, LOL.

Miles Oct 9, 2006 10:09 PM

It's funny how the guy working at my gamestop tried to play dumb at first. Then after talking to him a bit he said "Oh.... so you got the email huh?" He wouldn't tell me how many the store is gonna be getting though. I live in a small town so I wouldn't expect more than 7. I plan on getting there a few hours early tomorrow morning with a friend to wait for the opening so we can get our name first on the list. I just hope I don't show up 3 hours before they open to find a line of 10 people. >.<

SouthJag Oct 9, 2006 10:12 PM

Sigh. Goddamnit, I have to open tomorrow. Please, forum-goers, don't be assholes. Please? For the sake of video game employees nationwide, please don't be rude shitheads.

Slayer X Oct 9, 2006 10:15 PM

LOL, I work at a game store too and I have yet to have a day without assholes. Yo all you pre-bookers out there the real secret is to be nice to the person that's helping you otherwise they'll shaft you to the back of the line (or at least I would). Also don't talk too much, because you come off as a know it all.

Alright I'll stop there before I get into a bottled up rant ^^;

Wall Feces Oct 9, 2006 10:27 PM

My college town is filled with friggin idiots, so I doubt any of them know about tomorrow. I'm banking on being able to go after my class around 2:00 PM. I will likely end up calling beforehand just to make sure so I don't waste a trip.

Slayer X Oct 9, 2006 10:35 PM

Same here. Except I get out at Noon, Mwahahaha... lol

Does anyone have an idea how much EB/GameStop gives for games? (based on age & system). Even a ballpark would help me organize my stuff that I want to trade in.

Thanks ^^

That's bullshit. Nintendo does help out 3rd parties. Check out Ubisoft.

Slayer X Oct 9, 2006 11:15 PM

I didn't mean that they don't at all, I just meant in comparison. Sony works with Insomniac, Atlas, Capcom, Square, Nippon-Ichi Soft, Konami and Namco. Where Obviously everybody is trying to kiss Ubisofts ass right now because they make solid marketable products which is key to releases of new systems. But how many companies does Nintendo really work closely with?

Metal Sphere Oct 9, 2006 11:23 PM

Well, I'm in NYC, so I'm in a unique situation. There's 3 EBGames/Gamestops around where I live, so hopefully no one will BS me about preorders and I can get it done.

I say this because my parents just agreed to preorder 10 $500 PS3s units to sell on Ebay. So, wish me luck.

The hell is wrong with people. Damn.

SouthJag Oct 9, 2006 11:30 PM

Where I live, there are 5 EB/GS stores in the same city, with two being within an hour's drive. With a total of seven stores in the nearby area, there will be approximately 80 PS3s available for pre-order, because a few of the stores are getting 16 instead of 8.

Soldier Oct 9, 2006 11:32 PM

I wonder how news got around so fast. The only forum I've seen this info from is GAF, and I doubt that many people got the information by e-mail (I didn't even get an e-mail, and I signed up for the damn thing).

SouthJag Oct 9, 2006 11:40 PM

Gamespot.

Slayer X Oct 9, 2006 11:43 PM

Exactly. Also GameSpot should be reliable, seeing how they own EB and GameStop.

Well Nintendo has set up Brownie Brown which has worked on Seiken Densetsu games. I'm sure there are plenty of times where Nintendo has helped out third parties. I don't know in what ways Sony helps out third parties but even if so Nintendo might not help as much as Sony considering they have their own games to worry about, but to so blatantly say they don't is a bit much.

Oh and as a future warning the next time I find you posting with Microsoft as M$ I will ban you from that thread.

I find it hilarious that people are asking grandma and grandpa to camp out for a PRE-ORDER that they might not be able to get on launch day anyway.

Quite a lot considering a huge chunk of Nintendo licensed titles over the past few years have been co-developed by third parties. Sega (AV) on F-Zero GX, Namco on Starfox Arse Fault, Capcom on the GBC Zelda's. Hell, the developer of Blinx is making Yoshi's Island 2. They're also publishing more and more games by small time third party developers themselves now. CiNG (Trace Memory, Hotel Dusk), Agenda (Clubhouse Games), so forth. But I'm going completely off-topic which is shit so the end. http://img105.exs.cx/img105/9195/j5bmutantbaby.gif

Good thing there seems to be a Vitamin store nearby!

Cobalt Katze Oct 10, 2006 12:29 AM

Btw, that's a horrible photoshop that was posted on NeoGAF. Just thought you should know.

Metal Sphere Oct 10, 2006 12:33 AM

So... none of those pictures are real, eh? Hopefully they aren't, because I don't want to try to get there early only to find people have camped out.

What? Says who? EB/GS is owned by Barnes and Nobles, but if it goes much further than that I wouldn't know. As far as I know, GameSpot's not affiliated with GameStop though.

Elixir Oct 10, 2006 12:54 AM

Shit, those were fake? Nevermind.
