Keep us posted. :) I'm actually a little worried about my in-store preorder after some information from an ex-GameStop employee who let out some info on preorders and their policies... :( |

Hopefully it gets here soon so I can let you guys know. I don't have a camera though. =/ Quote:

So basically if you've got an in-store preorder then it's best to pick it up ASAP or you may lose out altogether. |

With online orders shipping already, why can't in-store reservers pick up their game?
I was just in Gamestop today too--to trade in my Halo 2 CE and Silent Hill 4 for this game--and the clerk didn't say anything about picking it up early. |
Can someone answer my question? :3
I have work on Tuesday, so I can't pick it up til like, 4pm. Should I be worried? : / |
Blue discs are PS2 CD-ROMS, so no... It definitely is not. They only hold about 700MB of data.

It'll be fine, that much is certain. |

Either way, they have to respect your reserve. Even if they give away your copy, you're still in tact for the next shipment and whatever you paid for, so there's really nothing to worry about. On top of that, they'll probably have craploads of copies. I remember looking at my Gamestop when Kingdom Hearts II came out. At least three rows filled the top counter area completely filled with that game alone. |
Yay thanks for the replies. I wasn't expecting several though :D
Yeah, I did reserve at EB. I wanted the Collector's Edition. Only four more days to go :3 |
So I suppose I should check with my GS tommorow then, just in case. For the record, I was all set up to try the game today, but the folks came in literally at the last second, and I ended up painting the rest of my room instead. What is this, Tom Sawyer? :(

My copy should be pretty safe I mean I've only been in there twice and I've held my copy so it's no biggie really.
Hot on 1UP's review comes IGN's and.... http://ps2.ign.com/articles/741/741991p1.html Quote:
I went ahead and updated the very first post in this thread with review scores and quotes along with refreshing alot of the character bios and information etc. |
Man the IGN Review is so stupid, the closing comments really pisses me off:
Closing Comments Final Fantasy XII is a fantastic RPG. It blows all of its PS2 competition this year right out of the water and is among the all time elite role-players ever made for the system. Kingdom Hearts, Devil Summoner, Xenosaga III, Tales of the Abyss... none of them are on the same level as Square Enix's bold and riveting move in a new direction. Whether you're a fan of the genre or not, FF12 most certainly deserves a special spot on your PS2 game shelf... put it in the front. Pleaaase i have more fun playing Tales of the Abyss which has a kickass story, better character dev., etc etc....it's things like this where i question ign's credibility...aargh tfoe (spits*) and ohyeah 9.0 Gameplay The new gambit system, full-camera control, license board upgrades, and enemy AI make for a Final Fantasy like no other. Best of all, it's fun AND challenging. Fun?...no...challenging? Def Not...spits again* 10 Presentation Lightning quick load times, one of the best storylines for any genre on any system for the entire year, and a gigantic fully-realized world is yours right out of the box. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME!!!!!! OMG! |
Well, people are entitled to their opinions. It isn't hard to see why someone might prefer it over a game like Abyss, given Abyss is very anime inspired, has horrifying load times and one of the worst world maps ever to grace a console RPG. It has plenty of flaws, same as most any game.
'Course, despite that little bit of trashing, Abyss is probably my favorite RPG of the year. Been playing around in FF12, and I like it just fine but I can already tell I am not going to like these characters even half as much as the cast of TotA. |
Yeah but claiming it's one of the best storylines for any genre on any system for the entire year is going overboard...

Hell, have you even played the game yet? |
So are gamestop stores selling this in store yet? I only ask cause there are people posting they received their copies in the mail already.
|
I called mine today, but they still aren't budging. Monday night at midnight is the earliest they'll allow, no exemptions.
I almost had the chance to play it earlier today, but my sister was taking a nap after her 5am run-a-thon, so I decided not to. Maybe it's a sign to wait until the official release, but those guys are changing the carpets that day, so I just don't know what'll happen. Quote:

Without spoiling it obviously was it akin to FFVII where it was open ended and left you with a bad taste or just bad in general where it was cliche and felt rushed?

To each their own I guess. It's good to see more reviews coming out with the game at an average of 91.7% so far on GameRankings and with each review I get more pumped. 2 days!!!! :) |

So yeah. |

I mean maybe it is a each to their own thing, but I still find it hard to believe that the one FF the reviews all hail as perfection has flaws in battles (gambits plays by itself), Licence board (Need gil and LP to get cure along with the right to use equipment?),mob hunts (as if running around to find it and kill wasn't bad enough, I have to run and find the guy who wants it dead to start the hunt?) and story? ( Poor character developmend along with uninteresting plot, and don't get me started on Basch's "betrayal" twist, its a soap opera cliche) Basch spoiler: Spoiler:
FF12 may be a great game to some, and mediocre for others, or even bad, but is it perfection and does it deserve such high scores? Not really, more like reviews either jumping the bandwagon, waited so long that they take whatever they can get, bribed, or just plain fanboys. If people love this game then great, I just think that it doesn't derserve the praise as being the game of the year or perfection or some other review over glorification. |
