I don't even know about that. Both GameSpot and IGN have complimented as to how smooth the PS3 games ran, even the ones that don't release until like Q2 '07. They both said that they never experianced any slowdowns at any time during TGS. GameTrailers said the same thing on their weekly report too.

Yup. It's getting to the point where you can see people who are walking around with some sort of agenda in their hands versus those that report what they saw and played. We've even got folks that went firsthand over on GAF and their reports came well before these writeups and essentially said the same thing.

With all this in mind, it's easy to see those who are intentionally spreading FUD.

---

Anyway, it looks like we'll get online details the 19th, after that news from RadiOPM basically confirms its existance. As for that Wipeout news being true, I doubt it, but you never now. It's from the same person who took those PS3 shots so it's just something to keep an eye on.

Hey, I know you guys already talked about this a while ago, but up to 7 controllers on one console? I thought the pictures of the controllers only showed the option for 4, with a light indicating what player you are?

Are there only 4 lights because they believe this will be the standard?

Slayer X Oct 6, 2006 12:02 PM

Good point, however Sony has said time and time again that it can go up to 7 BlueTooth components (i.e. 7 controllers) if the developers make a game that actually supports 7 players. In other words we're going to have to wait and see. If it's said at all before the system comes out it will be at the Sony conference Oct 19th.

Cobalt Katze Oct 6, 2006 01:30 PM

Maybe it starts lighting up 2 lights if you're player 5, 6 or 7 :p

4+1, 4+2, 4+3 *shrug*

Maybe the LEDs are different colors? Or it could be that they're simply indicators to show which player you are when plugged in via USB. Heck it may just be the charge status indicator.

Man that's a LOT of stuff. It's going to take me a bit to get through all that. However, thanks for the great finds ;)

Metal Sphere Oct 7, 2006 01:42 AM

No problem, I was just surprised how far this thread slipped down. It's probably because edit/automerge doesn't function as a regular post. Another interesting thing to note, is that OPM (U.S. OPM), has the review copy of Resistance and confirms 1080p native.

Soldier Oct 7, 2006 01:49 AM

I really hope Resistence delivers as something beyond a decent FPS or a mere Halo clone. I'm placing bets on making it my premiere launch title, and there will be problems if it ends up mediocre. Motorstorm looks fun, but I really don't want a racing game to be my first experience with a next-gen system. And Oblivion is guaranteed to be good, but it's just a port that probably will look no better than the 360 version.

I want my first game with a new system to be something to show off, visually. But it has to be fun to play, too. I'm not exactly confident that an FPS can do that either (since your player is always invisible, due to the camera view), but with Heavenly Sword and Lair delayed, Sonic reportedly another disaster, and Genji 2 looking like a PS2.5 game, then everything rides on Resistence for now. Sony probably came to the same conclusion, thus all the marketing toward it.

Malmer Oct 7, 2006 03:17 AM

Wow, that childish booty call video was some biased bullshit.
I'll never touch anything 'Gamesradar' again. I should thank you.

From the top of my head, I would personally go for MotorStorm. Definitely.
Other than its obvious stunning visuals, it looks like a ton of fun! Vehicles rummaging all around in chaotic frenzy, smashing to bits, while struggling towards the finishline. Hell, I could see myself buying two copies.

New info on White Knight Story from the headhoncho of Level 5, Akihiro Hino. This man's statement at the end rings true, it's no wonder why L5 is so damn good with someone like this at the helm.

Quote:

Speaking with Japan's Weekly Famitsu magazine, Akihiro Hino, president of developer Level 5 and producer of White Knight Story, said that he hopes to make a game with a 50 to 60 hour play time, which he referred to as a typical play time for an RPG. "With White Knight Story, we don't want to release a half-way product," said Hino. "We want to have a big title that surpasses the volume of the RPGs we've made in the past."

So White Knight clearly won't be some rushed first generation RPG project. But Level 5 apparently had pressure to do just that, with Hino revealing that there was some talk of attempting to get the game out around the time of the PS3's launch. In order to meet the launch, Hino says, Level 5 would've had to cut the story short, which is something he didn't want to do.

While Hino didn't share any new details on White Knight with the magazine, he did provide some insight into his personal gaming tastes. When asked what games he's paying attention to on other hardware, he responded with Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey, citing the need to match the "extremely beautiful visuals" in those titles.

Hino didn't have anything bad to say about any of the current and upcoming hardware. "The Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3, the DS and the PSP... I think this will be the most exciting year end period ever."

oh? Are they really that cheap?

I guess I'm just suspicious of something I can't push... I happen to like buttons :)

Yes, contrary to popular belief, little things like that really don't add that much cost to a product versus the image improvement they receive as a result of their inclusion. That's why it was laughable when people said to drop the card readers/usb ports in the PS3 to get the price down.

Oh, here's what the Japanese PS3 model comes with in the box:

Scroll down a bit and you'll see it.

- PS3 Hardware
- 1 x Controller
- 1 x USB Kabel (z.B. für Anschluss von PSP)
- 1 x Stereo AV Kabel
(Stereo AV, Component, D-Terminal, Multi-Terminal)
Ein HDMI-Kabel ist separat erhältlich
- 1 x LAN Kabel
- 1 x Stromkabel
I see:

Edit: Well, the AV cable thing's been clarified. It's the typical Playstation cable with the proprietary plug at one end, but at the other end it has all those connections (Stereo A/V Composite, Component, D-Terminal, Multi-Terminal). In the U.S. we'll probably just get a version of this with only composite and component at the connection end.

1 Controller
1 USB cable (probably the charging cable)
1 Stereo AV cable (This is confusing since it lists a ton of other stuff. Are they all on the end of the same cable, all you German folk?)
1 Lan/Ethernet cable
1 Power cord

Wow, lots of stuff!

Avanent: lol, that's ok.

MetalSphere: You should also post that White Knight Story infor in it's thread in the RPG area.

Alright, I'll go and put it up now. I'm sure there's some more news to put up here anyway, I've been gone a bit.

There's word going around that pre-orders are finally going to start this Monday or Tuesday at Gamestop. However, it also sounds like the pre-orders will be one day ONLY, so you'd better check early morning for both days. I know I'll be doing that.

Quote:

Again I would STRONGLY suggest that you keep a hawkeye on EBGames on Monday and Tuesday. Call them monday morning then call them monday before they close. Call them tuesday morning and the key to the magic kingdom should appear.

EBGames/GS stores have GOTTEN there pre-order items and flyers (Ive seen them with my own eyes). Pre-Orders ARE happening no matter what your store is saying at this point.

Here's one of the first PS3 ads seen in New York City. The font is terrible in terms of showing the date, but the PS3 is pretty clear there. A rather "meh" advertisement.

And, again, for my fellow New Yorkers, it seems like the PS3 will be playable at DigitalLife (Oct 12-15th).

Source

HOLY SHIT. The code INSIDER2006 works, just got free tickets now.

Quote:

For anyone living remotely close to NYC, there's a HUGE gaming and technology event, DigitalLife, taking place at the Javits Center from October 12 - 15. Sony is one of the main sponsors (along with 175 others).

Rumors are that they'll have a few PS3 for people to play, like they did at E3.

Tickets are $15, BUT, use this code and get 'em for free: INSIDER2006

digitallife.com

Enjoy!

Slayer X Oct 7, 2006 09:22 PM

Unless your GFF bio is incorrect, why would you need free tickets to something you can't go to??? lol

(still cool that the code works though)

Eh? I'm a student, but I don't have classes on the first or second day. Or do you mean something else? I haven't updated my GFF info in a good bit.

Yeah, he PMed me about it. I can see why it'd be sort of confusing. On the heels of the interview with Akihiro Hino above, we've got a ton of new White Knight Story art:

Sup, Black Knight. He'd be my new avatar if I wasn't going fanboyishly gay over Death Note right now.

Also, I just called my Gamestop to confirm the rumor about pre-orders being this monday or tuesday. The guy said he hadn't heard anything, but he's confident pre-orders will start this month. He also said it wasn't likely to start monday, but I'll check again tommorow regardless.

Holy crap. <3 Concept art! :D

Metal Sphere Oct 8, 2006 02:00 PM

Thanks to BlimBlim from Xboxyde and Playsyde, we've got a nice glimpse at non-God mode gameplay of Resistance from TGS. I don't know, but it seems like the reports of it being a bit on the difficult side look to be true watching the video.

Here it is.

Pfff. The guy playing it looked completely incompetent in FPS' for chrissakes.
