Trailer for SSX Wii on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOkZUioh6Us Looks damn good if you ask me.

Rock Dec 5, 2006 10:04 AM

How can people judge what's looking good or bad from a fucking YouTube clip?

SuperDK Dec 5, 2006 12:20 PM

Well, I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about so yeah, sorry. About the TV channel, that is. :(

You mean while you're playing a GC game? Yeah, and my above post is all screwed up, so what I really meant was while you're playing a GC game. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Wall Feces Dec 5, 2006 12:22 PM

Got my component cables today. Came in a nice box that's different from all the other Wii accessories. The cable is also much thicker than I thought it was going to be. Can't wait to try them out!

Oh, no, not while you're playing a GC game. Didn't know that's what you were talking about.

IGN's put up an Elebits preview today, looks like an awesome game. Huzzah for gravity guns!

Indeed, the videos look pretty awesome. What's even more awesome is that you can build your own levels :D

Please tell me you didnt order them after the cut off date.
I still havent gotten mine and I ordered them before....if I'm getting mine after cut off date people something is fucked up.

Elixir Dec 5, 2006 02:32 PM

So. Wii is released at midnight here.

I dunno, I have this feeling that the Freeloader won't work and I'll shit bricks. All of my GC games are non-PAL.

No websites have confirmed that the PAL Wii actually supports everything the american one does, which sucks.

I ordered mine a day before the cutoff date, and mine are already shipped and scheduled to come in on thursday this week. Did you check your nintendo.com account to see if they have shipped? I never got a shipping confirmed email.

Kostaki Dec 5, 2006 03:33 PM

I ordered mine on December 3rd (only got my Wii Sunday before last) and right now my status on the order is "Preparing Order" (and my card was charged) so I have no idea what's going on with Nintendo's store myself.

I'd like the cables, and I'm saving Zelda/Trauma Center for when I get them, but I suppose I can wait.

Ah ok... that makes em feel better then. I ordered mine the same time. When I try to track it with the order number I get a 404 error page, so I thought something might have been screwed up. But if you ordered yours the same day and dont have them yet....well then I guess I should calm down a bit =P

Edit:
lol .......shit.

OMG I got my e-mail saying my component cable was shipped.

Gamecube becomes completely obsolete in T Minus 3 days.

TheReverend Dec 5, 2006 04:43 PM

immp.....

Dude, that might be the worst news ever. Sorry about that man. I'll let you know how much of a difference they make.

This is amusing. Nintendo released this to compensate for the negative press from breaking TVs.

Well at least they're warning people now...even though they shouldn't need to in the first place.

I don't see why it won't work, but yeah. I'll be pretty annoyed if I ever get the urge to play Skies again and have to drag out the GasCube.

Wall Feces Dec 5, 2006 05:33 PM

I ordered my cables ON the cut-off date. I think I just got lucky!

The difference is nice, but the only places I truly notice it are on the HUD for Zelda. The icons are EXTREMELY crisp and I can make out even the most minute detail. Other than that, it's still an incredibly beautiful game, it's just a bit more crisp now. I don't get these people who say "omg it looks liek a blob lol" because it never looked THAT bad to me with the composite cables.

Either way, happy with my purchase, because now it can also be hooked into the 5.1 system :D

Turns out Europe gets Classic Controller support for playing Gamecube games instead of requiring an actual GC controller:

"As with the Virtual Console, you can either play your 'Cube games using your old GameCube controller, shoved into the Wii via the ports hidden under the top flap, or - if you're a style-minded 'Cube newbie - Nintendo's shiny white Classic Controller (sold separately, obviously) does the job equally admirably."

Dude, all of that shit is in the manual.

Not only that, there's constant warnings in the game to ensure that you're wearing the wrist strap and you aren't near anything you could potentially break.

People are breaking TV's due to their own stupidity. Honestly, you shouldn't be using the Wiimote so hard you'll break a TV (Or a wrist strap even).

If anybody honestly thinks Nintendo is at fault in any way, they are fucking WRONG.

They'll still blame Nintendo for making "weak" wrist straps though, kinda like how people would complain if a car company's seat belts break. Honestly though, I still don't understand how people can let go of the mote.

Kostaki Dec 5, 2006 07:25 PM

Maybe we should blame TV makers for making weak TVs. Stupid cocksucker TV manufacturers. SUE THEM! SUE THEM ALL! WITH DAMAGES!

lol no

People shouldn't be getting that much into the games, and under the duress of having really sweaty palms they need to just take a fucking break and dry off their hands.

I should take the Power Glove (with cord removed) and go punch people in the face with it, then blame Nintendo.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING"
"Now I'M playing with power, bitch!"
"OH GOD"

DjMeas Dec 5, 2006 07:52 PM

Wait, so the European Wii has Classic Controller Support for GC games but the USA one DOES NOT?

IS THIS TRUE!?! I haven't tried a Classic Controller on my Wii yet.

Or something.

FatsDomino Dec 5, 2006 08:27 PM

I see little point in this being a plus unless using the classic controller enables use of the home button to return to the Wii menu which I've heard when playing cube games is impossible. This can't possibly be anything big in hardware differences between the US and EU versions of the console besides NTSC/PAL. This would have to be something that could be added to the US version via a firmware update. That or this could be NOE shouting crap again.

velocity7 Dec 5, 2006 08:49 PM

They've shouted crap before.

Anyways, I ordered my Wii component cables yesterday, and they just shipped today. I'm waiting for the post office to update their records before being able to track the shipment. :3
