Emery has looked much better than a lot of people expected him to, I think. Also... my god. Phaneuf is a machine.

Man, I can't believe Vancouver lost to San Jose!!! Grrr....

And the Canucks had the classic jersey going too...

I was really surprised Luongo wore matching pads; most goalies are really picky about that kind of thing, and I know how weird I feel wearing pads that I'm not as used to. I wasn't surprised at all when he switched back after the first period.

We just lost that game because our defense wasn't that good (ie: Rory Fitzpatrick sucking a huge cock as always) and Luongo wasn't amazing like he usually is. But whatev, every goalie's allowed to have a bad (or in his case, normal) game.

Ottawa looking OK against the Habs but I'd still say that Montréal is outplaying us. 2-1 so far, but that was a very luck goal.

Did anyone else notice Don Cherry's attire in HNIC? I think the hot pink boa was a little much though.

EDIT: Emery is amazing. I loved watching him in the shootouts. Forget Gerber, Emery #1. We really need to work on our power play thougyh. We'gone something like 17 PPs without a goal and considering how strong we were last year, I don't think Chara being gone could make that much of a difference.

Wojo Oct 14, 2006 09:01 PM

Well I guess I should feel fortunate that the Hurricanes aren't in our division. What a horrible game tonight.

Why is it that every time we play in Mellon Arena these days, someone has to get seriously hurt?

They said last night toward the end of the broadcast that Trevor Letowski was responsive to doctors and could potentially be cleared to travel with the team to Tampa Bay, but I haven't heard anything further than that.

At least we picked up the win. We needed it.

Still don't have power. Bomb went off. Just went up to school to say 5-0.

Para Oct 15, 2006 02:42 PM

Lol No one is going to talk about Mats Sundin's 500th of his career, shorthanded, overtime, hattrick, game winning goal?

No. No one cares about the Maple Leafs.

^ This man, he does not lie.

TheKnightOfNee Oct 15, 2006 06:34 PM

Yeah, ever since Toronto left the Western Conference, I don't pay them much attention.

That's a pretty good way to get #500 though.

Dopefish Oct 16, 2006 06:19 PM

Evgeni Malkin must have special powers to come back from the dislocated shoulder 3 weeks early. Either that or he's just going to be a waste of a bench spot for the next 3 weeks.

No thats not it at all. A dislocated shoulder will keep you out of action for a long period of time IF you need surgery. In this case Malkin did not need surgery at all.

And what the hell do you mean by a waste of a bench spot exactly? Malkin can have his whole left arm broken and still would player better than some of the Penguins players. (ie. Leclair, Malone)

Dopefish Oct 16, 2006 06:48 PM

I like how you went from serious to silly in one post. Either way, most players who come back from an injury before it is completely healed are ineffective. Just playing the pessimist here.

So, Dope and Wojo, you still gonna be a fan when Crosby is playing for the Halifax Tragically Hips?

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Oct 16, 2006 08:39 PM

We'll get the slots. If not there will be shootings.

Dopefish Oct 16, 2006 09:36 PM

I like how GFF is doing a tribute to the Penguins on the banner image. TOUCHING.

Unless you actually live in Pittsburgh. Then it's ok to forget, apparently.

Team is moving to Ontario...

How have they been playing? I haven't been able to catch a game yet.

Last game vs Buffalo, we lost it in shootout but we kinda deserved victory because we pushed in the second and third period for goals and they never came. Too bad it didn't go our way.

The habs, have been pretty consistent sonce the beginning of the season which was not the case in previous years. Let's see what the future holds for them.

I do live in Pittsburgh, actually. And there are a ton of Pens fans here. Don't talk shit about something you know nothing about.

Apparently not enough to warrant a new stadium. WHAT?

YO PITTSBURGH MIKE HERE Oct 16, 2006 10:54 PM

That's not up to the fans.

If you loved your team enough, you could will it to happen. Did you learn nothing from Angels in the Outfield?
