Prone dudes offer combat advantage to people attackin' them (that's a +2 to your attack roll yup yup).

Wanna say the condition that grants auto-crits is Helpless

Hey, let's revisit the concept of player narrative empowerment!

The answer is whatever the fuck you want, provided you don't dinker with the mechanics. Think of the attack names as helpful suggestions, not restrictions. Maybe Stonum doesn't actually have radioactive eye beams, but rather an old magic wand handed down to him by his forefathers (and, unfortunately, post-Mistake, Cure Light Wounds manifests itself as radiation sickness). Stuff like that. Whatever works with your character concepts.

Little Brenty Brent Brent Aug 11, 2012 06:09 PM

Ahh okay. I'm used to playing with DMs that are more literal with rules and skill applications. Now that I think about it, maybe the people I've played with in the past are sort of boring. And they've made me boring oh god what-

Also, is slowing a vehicle to a halt and putting it in park (or turning it off, or whatever) also a move action?

The unmovable stubborn Aug 11, 2012 07:06 PM

Yeah, anytime you control the vehicle (even if it's just to shut it down) that's going to cost you a move action.

Alternately, just bail out while it's still moving!

nuttyturnip Aug 11, 2012 07:17 PM

Ok, another stupid question(s). If I'm trying to persuade someone, is it Interaction vs. Willpower? Do I have to be adjacent to them to persuade them? Is that a minor or standard action?

The unmovable stubborn Aug 11, 2012 07:28 PM

Interaction vs. Will, yeah. Bearing in mind that if the target is hostile, Interaction checks are at +5.

Standard action, and, hell, no reason you need to be next to somebody to persuade them.

I assume that means I'd have to be 5 over their Will to succeed? Also, they may be hostile, but we've also killed several of their comrades, and you said their bravado was receding. Surely they might be open to a chance to beat a hasty retreat?

The unmovable stubborn Aug 11, 2012 09:19 PM

Yeah, maybe. I'm gonna level with you, the rulebook isn't super concrete about combat diplomacy so it's going to be handled pretty fuzzily. So, anybody who makes an in-combat persuasion attempt like this, just be aware that your success is going to be down to a lot of fuzzy-wuzzy situational stuff because the handbook doesn't include a modifier for "hostile, but all his friends are being fit for sausage casings". So be all means give it a try if you want but, say, don't hinge the rest of your turn on it unless you get a nat 20 or something. I have to go along with the nat 20. That's just ethics.

Exhibit A:

Feeling a bit left out that he's the only one not on the Bobcat, Skittles decides a bit of self-preservation is in order.

Move action 1: Shift to F7
Move action 2: Move as far to the right as possible (it doesn't appear that F7 is actually adjacent to a wall, it's just where the current map ends).
Exhibit B:

nuttyturnip Aug 12, 2012 08:33 PM

I hate you so much right now.

Sousuke Aug 13, 2012 01:36 AM

INHABIT CORPSE? That... sounds interesting. Is it like a Ghost Trick thing or something?

Stop Sign Aug 14, 2012 01:51 PM

So now that combat is over, what are the rules for my character coming out of the KO state?

The unmovable stubborn Aug 14, 2012 06:18 PM

I said HP RESTORED, didn't I? You're fine. It's fine.

YouTube Video

(PS all the new mutations are on your sheet 'n all. Inhabit Corpse is open to some interpretation I s'pose.)

Stop Sign Aug 14, 2012 07:15 PM

I knew I was missing something! Post coming after I get through the hundreds of patents I have to look at tonight raarrrr

nuttyturnip Aug 16, 2012 11:24 AM

So does one of us just say, "And then they all set out for Denver" and Pang throws the inevitable ambush at us, or is there more to it than that?

The unmovable stubborn Aug 16, 2012 11:36 AM

Well, after all that trouble to get the Bobcat nobody seems to be driving it, so I thought I'd wait for Sousuke to chime in before I gave things a kick in the pants.

And it's not like you have to go to Enver, anyway. There's nothing stopping you from being irresponsible jerks and ignoring the incredibly vague adventure goal I gave you. Whee, sandbox

nuttyturnip Aug 16, 2012 12:39 PM

If Sousuke doesn't take the Bobcat, I will. No point in leaving it behind.

Little Brenty Brent Brent Aug 17, 2012 10:54 AM

In a way it's fitting that he drives it. We did break into his home to steal it, after all.

nuttyturnip Aug 17, 2012 01:43 PM

So where are we off to? I vote that Diss make the call, since he did the most damage in our last encounter, in spite of his failures.

Little Brenty Brent Brent Aug 17, 2012 03:20 PM

Damn it, Nutty. I'm a scientist, not a navigator.

Master of conversation. This guy. Right here.

loooooooool running we left the pristine Bobcat behind for you

The unmovable stubborn Aug 19, 2012 08:04 PM

In fairness, the Bobcat has a top speed of about 5 km/h. Running is almost certainly a better bet if he wants to actually catch up.

Sousuke Aug 19, 2012 08:24 PM

Regardless, I'm running. And screaming.

That said... sorry about disappearing, we've had some troubles with the car and insurance and getting pulled over and getting ticketed and having the car TAKEN OFF THE ROAD so I've been busy working on that shit the past couple days and haven't really thought to check the thread.

I'm back now. :3:

Even though I didn't say it in the thread proper. If we want to leave it behind fine too.

Little Brenty Brent Brent Aug 20, 2012 09:16 PM

Can we just go around and off-road it for a couple miles?

The unmovable stubborn Aug 21, 2012 03:40 PM

Why wouldn't you be able to? Dang, stop asking if you can do things and just do them, if something goes wrong you'll find out. Just give me a general idea of your heading if you decide to abandon the roads.
