Except that it's pretty ugly. Well, the ones with colors aren't bad (the red especially) but the thing is awfully chunky. The Lite is a better overall design, aesthetically speaking.

Is it so bad to own both guys? Not everyone has a DS so having an extra on hand would be excellent for multiplayer.

Oh and I guess this is good enough reason as any as to why the GBA cartridge sticks out:

Where did you get that awesome see-through bottom for it? =o

FatsDomino Mar 17, 2006 03:19 PM

lol it's called pile stuff on top of DSlite and pretend you have x-ray vision. Silly Qwarky. =P

Disagreed. It's a matter of taste, but I prefer the pseudo-metal design of the original DS over the Lite's "breakable plastic pile of Apple shit" design. =D

JasonTerminator Mar 18, 2006 02:51 AM

The DS is one bulky POS, I'll give you guys that. I don't think it's as incredibly ugly as many others do, but it's pretty big.

I'm considering getting a lite for the nicer screen, really. I don't really care about other stuff (The nicer d-pad sounds good though).

Hey now, that was uncalled for ='D

I like the fact that I might be able to have the DS with me in my inner-pocket.
Right beside my wallet, phone, keys, camera, headset, GB Micro, iPod, usb key...
Where do boys seriously put all this crap in the summer, it's a mystery. Every year ;__;

I'm not too fond of all these white gadgets though. I'm afraid it would become grey-ish and look smudgy after a while. I'm gonna wait for the black edition (2008).

Kimchi Mar 18, 2006 09:01 AM

Lol black edition at 2008? Are you fucking serious> Abyways DS lite looks better but what's the new feature? (WEll, I am picking one myself soon.)

Infernal Monkey Mar 18, 2006 09:38 AM

There are no new features. =o It does everything the old DS did, it's just smaller with much better screens.

Elixir Mar 18, 2006 10:51 AM

So far, the DS Lite offers the following:

- Brightness adjustments
- Bigger buttons, spaced
- Bigger screens
- Bigger and more thicker dpad
- Smaller unit
- 3 BRAND SPANKING NEW IMPRESS-YOUR-FRIEND COLORS.

Annnnnnnnd that's it, really. I saw a picture over at 4chan about the Lite, and according to somebody who purchased one, the GBA cartridge sticks out of the DS Lite, making it obvious. Oh well, good thing I have the original chunky DS so I can enjoy my perfectly fitted GBA cartridges and arthritis at the same time.

Grubdog Mar 18, 2006 11:31 AM

Bigger screens? I wasn't aware of that.

Hahaha so true! But you wouldn't want to carry a purse. =D

Well now you are! You can just tell by lookin at the touchscreen that it's bigger.

surasshu Mar 18, 2006 01:07 PM

Uhm, I don't know where you're looking, but Nintendo says they're the same size. I doubt they would lie about something like that.

Kimchi Mar 18, 2006 01:45 PM

Lol, if it WAS bigger screen it would so unfair.

Sepharite Mar 18, 2006 02:01 PM

It's an optical illusion - he's comparing the screen area space of the lite to the DS Fat. But he obviously missed the mic relocation. =/

nazpyro Mar 18, 2006 03:04 PM

Ah, I like that. The "DS Fat." I don't mind the DS Lite having GBA cartridges sticking out. It's cool though that they provide you with a cover for it though. In my current DS, I always just keep a game in though. When I get the Lite, I'm not sure which way I'd go with.

Nah, not serious - I just pulled a year out. It wouldn't surprise me though, but hopefully they'll make one, and a lot sooner.
The Navy one comes close, but I'm not too fond of it. Hmm... unless...

I'd rather have it be white, especially if it's going to be shiny like that. Dark shiny plastic is a fingerprint magnet, as my PSP can attest.

Question: Is it really necessary to purchase those protective screens for the DS/DSLite? What I mean to say, is the bottom screen easily vulnerable to scratches?

Regarding DS Lite: If you've been breathing on this planet long enough, you'll know Nintendo Co. will always come out with a sleeker, portable, version of the preceding GB system. To those who claimed they were screwed by Nintendo for not knowing of the impending newer, shinier DS: a little patience will go far.

It all depends.

If you're retarded and completely abuse your touch screen, yeah, you'll want a few screen protectors.

I'll put my two cents in. I've been playing Ouendan on my DS (up to hard,) and I haven't come across any noticeable scratches. There might be tiny scratches that I'd need to find with a good source of light and looking at it from different angles, but those don't count.

Kimchi Mar 20, 2006 04:55 PM

Yea, the screen protector works pretty good I heard. This saturday I am picking lite ^_^

Seconded, I've owned 2 DS'es (I gave one to my parents for their birthday) and I've played Ouendan on hard on both of them, and they are both perfectly okay. Putting downward pressure on your stylus (beyond contact) just hampers your ability to play.

Screen protectors can be nice (certainly beats buying a new DS after you fucked up your screen I'd say), but I've heard it's a bitch to put them on the screen without making air bubbles.

True, I have a screen protector on my DS, but I hardly notice, or feel them.

Well, on a different note, Tetris and Metroid Hunters should release tomorrow.

TornadoOfSouls Mar 21, 2006 11:26 PM

All I know is that I want one, and I can hardly wait until they are released here.
