Alright so this is coming out in 10 days. Who else is excited as heck?

Does anyone know if they're going to be releasing it at midnight?

Congle line of abuse. Or is that conga-line. Or congaline. Jan 2, 2008 05:46 PM

OH, I can't believe I forgot it was January =o

I've been following this movie intently for a while now, up until they officially named the movie Cloverfield. I can't wait.

Divest Jan 2, 2008 06:15 PM

Wait, sorry, it's coming out in 16 days, which is more than two weeks away. *sigh*

For some reason I tricked myself into believing it was coming out on the 12th. =/

guyinrubbersuit Jan 2, 2008 07:31 PM

I'm still anticipating this movie but the hairs on the back of my neck are suggesting that it's going to have a great build up but a horrible climax. I certainly hope that my instinct is wrong and that it turns out great all around.

Dark Nation Jan 2, 2008 08:37 PM

Wow, its so close now. I can hardly wait!

As an added bonus, there's going to be a teaser trailer for the new Star Trek movie that's going to be shown exclusively before Cloverfield.

Quote:

"Way back, J.J. was like 'When Cloverfield comes out, Star Trek will be on it,'" Reeves said of his mysterious monster flick, which will hit theaters on 1.18.08 with the Star Trek trailer attached. "I was like 'That's a terrific idea; that's exciting'. So, I've known for a long, long, time that was their plan, and I've just recently seen bits of the teaser. I think it's amazing, and it looks pretty incredible."

"I think people are going to be very excited," he said, offering a sneak preview. "It's a teaser, you know, it's a teaser trailer. But still, I was like 'Wow!' Just the scope of it, the scale of it, you just look at it and it's so elegantly done."

Opening day for me! Teaser and damn fine looking movie. What a damn good way to start 2008.

Zephos Jan 3, 2008 03:28 AM

Damn right!

I'll be very interested to see the ST teaser. I have no idea what the new vision will look like at all, having only seen one blurred pic of Kirk and the two teaser posters.

Sian Jan 3, 2008 12:26 PM

Is this the one filmed with the home camera? I saw it yesterday before I Am Legend (probably due to a later UK release date). I was very very impressed by it, I love films that have that sense of realism whilst still being formalistic.

Divest Jan 3, 2008 12:52 PM

Yeah, this is definitely one of those movies. The camera seems realistic but at the same time it's still steady enough to where you don't get a headache.

Sian Jan 4, 2008 08:24 PM

And it's grainy enough to make special effects not look like shit either. Can't wait to see this.

dagget Jan 5, 2008 06:50 AM

Wish I hadn't moved.. was planning on seeing this with Willow way back in July when we saw Harry Potter. :| It's still looking interesting each and every time I see a spot on TV.

As far as the ST trailer goes, it seems cool that they're releasing the trailer with this movie instead of before Indy 4... however, I'd be more excited for it if Lucas/Speilberg would already release the damn Indy 4 trailer instead of crying about how everyone hates the movie already.

I think the Cloverfield monster has pretty much been revealed. I really hope this isn't it but it looks like the monster from the trailer.

Majin yami Jan 8, 2008 12:39 PM

Christ, I didn't realise it was coming out so early. Is it a global release date or do us in ol' Blighty have to wait longer to see it?

I think that's a big negative on that image there Divest. A few pages back you posted a .gif of that cleaned up image from the trailer of the beast. I can't see it cause the bandwith was exceeded, but I distinctly remember that the beast had a completely different body structure than what that picture had.

Whereas the thing above seems like a hunchback of sorts, the beast in the .gif was more upright, meaning the head I believe was held up higher than what its back would be.

Still, awesome image :tpg:

Edit: Now that I think about it, the image leads me to believe that the creature would have a HELL of a time throwing anything with the way it's arms are structured. Just my two cents though >.> so who knows.

Divest Jan 8, 2008 01:55 PM

Yeah, I posted the cleaned up image. ;___;

I don't know where to get it from to repost it but eh.

I figured that was the reason it looked like the monster.

Grail Jan 8, 2008 02:11 PM

Have any of you seen the new image at 1-18-08.com and the new videos that have come out in 3 different languages?

It all involves some oil drilling structure out in the atlantic becoming totally and completely destroyed/submerged under the water, and the footage is of it's destruction.

At the end of the english news report it shows footage from a bunch of people inside a lifeboat getting away from the collapsing rig...and as soon as the entire thing falls underwater, a few seconds later, several HUGE peices of debris shoot up out of the water and easily fly 100-200 feet into the air.

This beasite is big, this beastie is powerful, and from that image you linked Divest, it seems kinda too rhinoish ;____;

It's Lavos. Why are we even still discussing this?

That's not the creature.

Thank God.

I really didn't want it spoiled for me, you know?

I saw that clip just then, I really wanna see this film =o

Divest Jan 9, 2008 11:26 AM

Oh man, as the day gets closer I'm freaking DYING to see this movie. I'm definitely going to be there at midnight when this whole thing releases because by god this movie has to be good.

I read the site about the possible Cloverfield monster, Grawl, and he even says, he suspects it looks pretty close to that. That might not be it, but I would go so far as to say, we probably wouldn't even be able to tell the difference.

I just wish the monster wasn't a reptile. ;___; I really wish it was that huge sin looking thing.

Dark Nation Jan 9, 2008 12:06 PM

There's talk at my work about everyone going as a group on Friday to see the movie, so I might do that :3: If I do, I'll be sure to post a spoiler-free quick review on how the movie was for the thread.

Divest Jan 10, 2008 11:06 AM

8 DAYS GUYS. 8 DAYS.

It's Lavos nine years too late. Looks like his arrival wasn't stopped after all, just delayed.

BUT THE FUTURE REFUSED TO CHANGE, IT JUST GOT LAZY.
