i'm definately looking foward to the movie. if nothing else except for an "action" rendition to the manga. i hope toda erika plays misa well; she's one of my favorite actresses at the moment.

RYUK!!! I have a feeling that, compared to the 'real' actors he's going to look fake, but still...from that 2-sec clip he looks very, very close to the manga. And the music (up until what I'm assuming is the RHCP song) sounds very good as well.

Now I'm all hyped for the release! Hopefully the subbers get on it as soon as they can.

So far.. All of the Actors are showing me a good impression of the DN characters. Ryuuku on the other hand...will be on top of'em all.. Ryuku's face up close scared off my little brother lol

Wow, that trailer looks amazing.

I haven't read Death Note in several months now, but I read up to about issue 40, and a lot of the key moments I remember from the manga were shown in that trailer. Everything from the scene on the subway, to when Light (formerly Raito, I guess) hides the TV in the chip bag... very cool.

My only concern with making a movie would have been whether or not the actor for Light could come off as creepy and pull off those sinister facial expressions. I am satisfied with his live action counterpart. =)

Speaking of Light/Raito, what's the deal with the change anyways?

Wow....that's good. Can't wait to see the whole movie now. Not to mention see the rest of the Shinigami and see what they look like, moving and in CG. So...lets hope that by the time the second movie comes out in Japan, this one will make it over here, if not in theaders, then DVD....

I'm on volume 3 of the manga right now and ...I can't believe how awesome this manga is.



As for the movie trailer, I'm actually kinda pumped. Ryuk's brief appearance at the end was cool, but I hope they improve the CG for him. Other than that, as long as the acting is good and the story told well, I'll probably be satisfied with it.

Why did they switch from Raito to Light, I mean. The scans I have just said they were switching, and didn't really give any reason.

Maybe cause they wanted to ? I guess the same would go for Megaman Character Dr. Light. since his name is also pronounced as Dr. Raito...u.u.

They switched because the 'official' English spelling came out in a promo that was run in an issue of SJ. Before, the scanlators were going by the way it was spelled in japanese, which because of the famous R/L thing, came out to "raito." Of course, it's spelled with the Kanji for moon, but pronounced as the english Light (go figure). The official spellings also meant that Ryuuku went to Ryuk, Raito to Light, and Remu to just Rem.

It appears that Dani California's not going to be the only song featured in Death Note. I checked out Suga Shikao's site on a whim just now and found information on a new single of his to be released on June 21. Apparently it's going to be an insert song for the movie. The song itself is titled "Manatsu no Yoru no Yume" (A Midsummer Night's Dream), which happens to have the same title (though not necessarily the exact same kanji reading) as the xxxHOLiC movie.

No i don't think it ended because jonen jump usually announces when it's manga is over and when a new one is starting
